Description

Toned muscles ripple the ebony skin that shrouds them, when this relatively tall duergar moves. You see that his hands are covered in callouses and his armor is battle worn. Dark hair is braided in what appears to be a haphazard manner, and left to fall down his back of it's own accord. A dark beard of thin sparse whiskers fails to cover the few scars that can be picked out on this duergars face. And then, as you nearly complete your study of this man, his eyes catch you. The deepest blue gray that can only be described as the worst of bad storms, stares at any and everything about him in pure melevolent angst and what you think might be questionable sanity. Looking away from his eyes you also notice that..

Staggering growth.

Jeik Durr Cevgroo stood just within the recess of the cave mouth, his
heat signature hidden by the edge of cool rock and the vent of warm
air rising from below. Echoes of the mass extermination of his people
bounced off of the cliff face to fade away into the endless spaces
above. Even though he was selfish and nearly devoid of any feelings
of want for the people dieing below him, he couldn't help but frown
as remorse for the complacent life filled him. With a final glance
down at the cavern that held his families kingdom, Jeik Durr turned
and marched quickly into the depths of the winding tunnels. His
journey away from the Underdark began, for none could not survive
the depths of the Underdark without a gathering.

In time Jeik Durr Cevgroo would try to remember his journeys from
the depths of the deepest darkness. Hours would be spent in stolid
meditation, but all for naught. The memories were fleeting and only
surfaced in the deepest of nightmares, but such was the way of that
which was too horrible to be remembered. The vision of that place,
the place where he was born, burning is what drove him on. That
vision is what drove him through the terrors of the wild Underdark.
That is what drove him to find his way, starved and nearly mad, out
of the deep tunnels and onto the surface, stars gleaming and the
wind blowing wildly. And later, that vision is what drove him to
slit the throats of those that had nurtured him back to health. To
take all that they had in their possession, so that he might not
only survive, but grow stronger and strive for everything he would
ever want. Realization that he could take from others dawned on
him soon after, this surface place was relatively soft, the people
frightened to live. He would take everything from those that did
not bother to use it to make themselves stronger.

A path

Perusing a weather worn brown volume, Jeik Durr chuckled to himself
about his accomplishments. He was hardly reading, merely flipping
the pages, as he thought about how easily these pale people had
fallen to him, a mere cudgel in his fist. Oh how quickly the woman
had tried to turn and run, to leave her husband to the worst of
fates that any ma.... there it was, before him. Something of some
substance, finally. He read the words quickly, then went back and
read them again.

It was not five minutes before the Jeik Durr had finished his
complete ransack of the property. A few things of worth and a full
map of what is called the western continent. He packed what he
wanted to take, ripped into the leg of a beast that had finished
stewing as he broke down the front door and strode out. The map
was easy to follow, and soon he was trotting quickly down a wide
packed dirt road towards a place the map named as galadon. There
is were he would find what the book referred to as the ultimate
power..

The promise of power

Jeik Durr rose quickly in the guildhall of the dark knight, willing
to act on even the most dastardly of orders without showing any
signs of remorse. He had just learned the incantation of sight
stealing when his first taste of betrayal was forced violently
upon him. The younger disciple of the dark arts was so vehement
in his aggression, and his lust for ascension within the guild.
Too vehement in fact, that as he descended upon Jeik Durr with
his axe, he lost the cold malice of their training. Jeik Durr
spun the incantation quickly, relieving this fool of his sight,
and then his weapon.. and then his life. The fight did not last
long, for it is difficult for one to defend themselves if they
are unable to see. Jeik Durr, reveling in the blood bath, failed
to notice his guild master at the far end of the room, a smile
of utter delight splayed across his face. Only the strongest
must survive within the guildhall of the dark knights, only
the strongest might have the promise of the ultimate power.

Dark Knights stood along the walls, their weapons sheathed and
their training put aside, as inspecting magistrates of the
Blood Tribunal picked through the scene. Such tenacity they had
in their investigation, the only thing that spared Jeik Durr
of a swift execution were the witnesses whom testified to his
self defense. These men and women held life in their hands, a
simple squeeze of their fist, a downward thumb, their decision
could take a life, so quickly! He wished this, Jeik Durr needed
it, it would complement the savoring of ones soul perfectly!
But he also noticed the way in which these Magistrates would
hold themselves stiffly to their judgement, their simple honor
and degree of righteous duty. This disgusted him, Jeik Durr
realized the power of their rules, but there must be a way
to dismiss this disgusting self control. He would strive
to find it, this he vowed.

The Oath of Blood and Glory

The incessant search for more, more power, more skill, more
strength, more wealth, more more more.. this search led him
to one place, down one road. It was not too many days before
Jeik Durr Cevgroo found himself standing in the center of an
expansive stone square, a large fountain gushing in the middle.
Before him rose the greatest palace of all palaces, the home
of the Emperor, his seat of glory. Though no Emperor sat the
throne just now, this was his place and always would be.
And this was Jeik Durr's place, here he would reach out
and hopefully grasp everything that he has always desired.
That promise of control that was ripped from him as he watched
his home burn, in the deep depths of the Underdark. His royal
family slaughtered and enslaved by the drow. But Jeik Durr
knew that it would not be so easy here, in this place before
him. Here in the empire he was not born into any right..
and would have to be most sinister, and most deadly, to
earn everything that he desired.

And so the Oath was sworn, My heart, My soul, My life for
the Empire. The blood was spilt and the dark deed was done.
And the path of his future was now open before him.

Service to the Empire.

The blessing of the subjugator coursed through his veins,
complimenting the few writhing souls that he had trapped
to serve the Empire. He had found his place, risen quickly
through the ranks, and apparently impressed the dark god
of Imperial Domination, Enlilth. All that stood before
Jeik Durr Cevgroo was the throne itself, to be climbed by
the rightful mortal ruler of the Empire. This throne he
had his sights on, but now it was too soon. He had risen
too quickly within his guild and too quickly within the
Empire. Most would consider such an obvious blessing, and
he did not discount the glory he felt from the faith his
lord placed within him.

Through this reasoning the newly raised Dread Lord realized
he had much work before him, many to slay and many souls
to trap and put to service of the Empire through his hands.
A long road of blood and darkness to walk, if he were to
eventually take the throne. So he decided that he would
let the drow hold it for now. To think, a woman of all things
would be the likely one raised from the council. Let her
keep it warm for him, until he was more then powerful enough
to take the throne as he would eventually take her old
withered soul and put it to continued service to the Empire.
