Description
Before you stands a tired looking middle-aged man. It is apparent from first
glance this man is dangerous, his stance, equipment and heavily defined
muscles hint that he is no stranger to combat. Dark shadows can be seen
filling the hollows beneath his brown eyes, which glare out with an intensity
unbecoming to his weary appearance. His shoulder length, dark-brown hair
hangs loosely in an umkempt mess, matching the heavy, unshaven shadow that
grows across his face. Despite his disheveled appearance, you can tell this
man is still quite handsome for a human. Unlike his personal appearance, his
belongings are all well kept, the leathers of his armours well maintained,
and whilst the metal doesn't shine, it clearly cleaned regularly.
Role
A Spark in the Rough

The Tribunal guards gripped their weapons nervously as they gazed upon the
seemly ordinary house. "Ya been sure this is the place?" whispered one of
them.
"That's what the rat said, now shut up before you give us all away" came the
gruff reply from their Sargent
Moving quietly but swiftly the guards fanned out and surrounded the house.
They were almost in place when a warning shout came from one of the windows,
and a crossbolt slammed home into one of the guard's chest.
"Alright boys you know the drill!" yelled the Sargent "Group one in the
front! Group two in the back! Group three you stand watch for any rats trying
to scurry their way out! MOVE!"
As a well trained unit the guards moved in as one. Breaching the front and
back and flooding into the house. Sounds of clashing metal erupted almost
immediately, followed quickly by the screams of the dying. The battle was
over as quickly as it had begun, cutthroats were no match in open combat
against fulled armored soldiers. Soon the guards had survivors manacled and
lined up out the front of the house. Most of them were whores, but among them
was one young boy.
"What'll ya want done with this one Sarg?" said a soldier as he roughly
kicked the boy forward "Slit his throat and be done with 'em?"
"I ain't havin' no bloody kid's death on my mind" barked the Sargent.
"Can't let 'em bloody go, Sarg, ya know he'll be like the rest o' 'em in five
years!"
Frowning deeply, the Sargent rubbed his unshaven chin in though. Suddenly a
grin broke out accross his face. "Take 'em to temple! Maybe 'em priests can
find a bloody spark in 'em!"
Laughing loudly, the guard grabbed a handful of hair and unceremoniously
dragged the boy towards the temple of Marcatis.
Priesthood
Added Fri Jun 10 23:58:00 2011 at level 18:
When Jere was first brought before the Priests of Marcatis, they had little
hope for the child. Many believed that the atrocious acts he had commited in
his previous life as a member of a crime family would forever tarnish his
spark and that he would never reach perfection. One Priest by the name of
Danad believed differently. He took the child in like one of his own, and
personally raised him. Instead of commiting the child to the Priesthood, he
used the child's unique skillset and sent him to train with the Assassin's
guild. The other priests thought Danad mad, that the Assassin's guild would
only further corrupt the child, but Danad had hope. Each night Jere would
hone his craft with the Guild, but by day he would return to the temple for
prayer and rest. Whilst he became an expert in death, his morals were that of
a Priest of Marcatis.
When Jere finally came of age the Priesthood let him go, for they knew his
place was not within their walls. Jere's place was that of a zealous warrior
of the shadows. To spread the word of Marcatis, whether by voice or blade, to
stem the tide of chaos and darkness, and to strike down all the undying so
that they meet His final judgment.
Seeking Marcatis
Added Fri Jul 1 06:47:38 2011 at level 38:
It has been many years since Jere left the Priesthood, years which have been
long and hard. No longer a boy, Jere walks the lands as a bloodied hunter,
the death of many weighing heavily upon his soul. For nearly a decade Jere
believed his faith in his Lord to be strong enough to handle such a burden,
that his actions would be Judged as just and right, but along with the
wicked, have come the death of friends. Though they were marked as criminals,
the guilt of his actions still linger.
There is another matter that bothers Jere. Though he was raised by Priests of
Marcatis, he still remains a member of the Assassin's Guild. He understands
what it is his Lord expects from his Priests, but he is unsure of his own
place.
Originally Jere had no need to seek out his Lord, knowing that the day would
come when he would eventually meet him for his Final Judgment. Now he knows
he must seek him out, lest his action stray from the righteous path, and he
be Judged accordingly.
Depression.
Added Sat Jul 23 22:14:03 2011 at level 50:
Years have passed since Jere first sought out his Lord for guidance, but for
all his prayers he has heard nothing. Jere has continued as always, striking
down the corrupt, bringing justice to the guilty and striving to forfill his
duty as a Magistrate.
However all is not well. Jere still feels lost, the guilt of those he
delivers for final judgment builds upon him. He spreads the word of his Lord,
yet is unsure whether this is what his Lord wants of him. Whether he walks
the path of the righteous warrior of light and order, or whether his actions
merely bring about more chaos.
Jere's place in the Spire seems uncertain as well, as his off-duty actions
hinder his career. Already Jere has had a disagreement with the new Provost
Kalarius, something which does not sit well with Jere as order and chain of
command must remain paramount. The Provost asked Jere to stop hunting the
Imperial Mummy Cotzibue, burdening Jere with a further moral dilemma of
obeying command, or destroying the abomination that defies his Lord.
Jere has not given up and remains faithful, yet his strength gradually
falters as a deep depression begins to sink in.
