Description

The giantess you look upon has the pale white-blue complexion of a snowy sky. An avalanche of white hair tinged with the subtleness of gold is barely contained by having been woven into numerous braids. You notice the braids have been bound with a combination of simple leather thongs and crudely carved bone fetishes. Blue eyes the color of rich sapphires peer out from beneath the hood of her heavy fur cloak. She appears vibrant, with the rose tinge to her skin betraying a swollen belly that is well protected by her coverings. Little else of the giantess appearance can be seen as her form is obscured by the many layers of hide and leather she uses for protection. The hafts of several weapons reveal themselves by hanging below the trim of her cloak as she moves about.

Role

Part Two - The Fracture of the Great Clan

Added Thu Apr 10 21:53:14 2008 at level 51:
For years beyond counting the varied Totemic clans of the Cloud
Giant peoples had dwelt within one great steading where the
strongest amongst them ruled as Chieftain. They hunted the rich
forests of the valleys and foothills and bartered with the barbaric
humans as well as the learned High Fey. They raided distant lands,
fought when they could, cast their voices and prayers to the Old
faith, and met at great moots where they fought each other to raise
leaders amongst them. Life was good. Life was constant. Life was
about to change.

The crusaders whom had fled from the southern city of men, and
then again from the towns of the settled human clans, came to
high passes and sought shelter from the forces that sought them.
In audience with the Chieftain of the Clans they convinced him that
his people should shelter them and fight the forces of Loke as a
shared enemy. They spoke that Loke had all intent of claiming the
land of the clans as his own to mine for stone and minerals to
build higher walls, cobble roads, and fashion as gilded treasure.
These words inflamed the Giants and soon the horns sounded the
call to war. It was not in answering the call to war that began the
fracture of the Great Clan , for the forces of Loke were worthy of
fighting by any Giant's standard, but in so listening to the crusader's
impassioned oratory.

Over the next forty years raids and counter raids occurred as the
forces of the southern city strove to drive their way into the passes.
During this time the Chieftain of the Clans came to admire and trust
elvish commander of the crusaders. Slowly during this time the
Chieftain had started allowing the crusaders to preach the word of
their godlings to the gathered clans. When opposition to this grew
and the Chieftain's leadership was questioned the leader of the
crusaders advised that the many clans could only be unified and
know lasting strength if a measure of order was brought to them.
The many clans need a King, not a Chieftain, they advised. Only
by this show of strength could he quell discontent and disorder.
Pleased with their words the Chieftain declared himself King at the
next Winter's moot.

Seven of the twelve gathered clans refused to recognize any
permanent King. They declared that in so proclaiming himself King
the Chieftain had turned from the Old Ways that guided them all.
The Totem clans of the Hawk, Timber Wolf, Snow Hare, Elk, Snow
Bear, Raven, and Badger all departed and claimed lands and hunting
grounds of their own. By seeking to secure their ally in a lasting
position of power, and the ability to preach the words of their Gods
openly, the crusaders had sundered the bonds binding the Great
Clan with no malice or ill thought. Good intentions harkened the
fall of an ancient people and their way of life.

+ Part One - The Rise of Udgaard Loke

Added Thu Apr 10 21:46:13 2008 at level 51:
The many clans of cold north all dwelt within the protection of
the redoubt of the great chieftain for years lost to counting.
Giants grew, learned the old ways, hunted, mated, fought, and
died generation after generation and nothing changed till the
coming of the soldier men. To the southeast, in a temperate
valley by a river that flowed quick and clear from the snowmelt
a city of men had risen. Doom had grown quietly in the shadow
of the frigid peaks.

A rift had formed within the city of men as a leader emerged
amongst their number. In a night of slaughter the streets grew
grew slick with the blood of rival factions and the wails of the
dying seemed the music of an abyssal choir. When the sun
crested the mountain peaks Udgaard Loke had risen to power
and those of the paladin's guild had been butchered or driven
to the wilderness.

The humans bread like rats under Loke's leadership and like
any vermin they new an all consuming hunger. They boiled forth
from their city and brought ruin to all they touched. They
subjugated the mountain passes to the south and used them
to raid the fertile southern lands as well as force favorable terms
with the leadership of the City of Arials. As well as their conquest
was going Loke forgot not any enemy so he turned his sight west.

Loke was not content to just drive the crusaders away. Elements
of their number continued to infiltrate the city and sow discontent
and rebellion amongst a largely cowed citizenry. For this he would
see all he could capture nailed to the cross. He sent his men west
and pillaged the town of settled barbarians there who had sheltered
some of the crusaders. The remaining crusaders fled to the high
passes and peeks of the northern range where their charismatic
leader gained safe passage to and shelter within the steading
of the Cloud Giant chieftain.

+ General Comments

Added Thu Apr 10 21:39:09 2008 at level 51:
Part of me wants to say the role is long overdue, but I am not
sure that is true. I wanted to have a character that developed
on her own from a very basic concept instead of following a
tightly scripted role, and I think Jhoqu has managed that. She
has become a composite of all the characters that she grew
close to and each helped in her development. The first two
chapters of her role will follow detailing the backdrop to which
her clan dwelled. I will follow with more updates in the next
week. Thanks for the great game.
