Description
This tiny fellow has a ruddy-brown complexion and very fine,
sandy brown hair. His face is smooth and childlike, his eyes
a faint pale green. His clothes are simple and unassuming,
well worn but clean. This gnome looks to be of about average
height and build for his race, and shows no signs of having
anything other than a reasonably comfortable life. Other than
a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles set low on his nose, he is
a very unremarkable sort of character.
Role
Jopenstanruk
Added Mon Oct 24 21:04:32 2005 at level 5:
Driven to pursue knowledge in all subjects, Jopenstanruk is especially
fascinated by creatures and the workings and mechanics of the body, man
or beast. Combat injuries, transmutation magic, the effects of poisons
and herbal medicines; all arts affecting the body and the way the body
responds to these things are Jopenstanruk's favorite pursuit. He considers
shapeshifting to be the most challenging and rewarding study of form and
body, the culmination and drawing together of many similar but seperate
crafts. Interests outside the pursuit of knowledge range, in Jopenstanruk's
opinion, from dull to foolish to blatantly counterproductive.
Chaos
Added Tue Oct 25 22:49:02 2005 at level 11:
Jopenstanruk is not naturally chaotic for the most part. Rather
he has during his quest for knowledge over the years come to
the conclusion that knowledge cannot be advanced through comformity
or stagnation. That it is only through novel experience that
progress is made, and to this end he makes a conscious effort to
thrust himself, and to some extent any around him, into new situations.
He believes this is absolutely necessary for the discovery of any
truely original insights, and he believes that chaos and unpredictability
are the best facilitators of these novel experiences.
The society of mages
Added Mon Nov 28 16:22:33 2005 at level 47:
Jopenstanruk is very excited to join and work with the other magical scholars.
He thinks it an excellent opportunity to advance magical knowledge, both his
own and in general. He is somewhat wary of the other scholars who are calling
for a more exclusive society which would only accept selected candidates.
Jopenstanruk is a bit worried such a policy could close off some avenues of
learning and hinder the pursuit of knowledge, but he can appreciate a desire to
form the society from the very best scholars, and right now it is only a minor
concern for him.
Empire
Added Wed Nov 30 18:11:02 2005 at level 49:
Jopenstanruk does not care for the empire much. He is wary of the few
who have decided to join the magical society, but he respects their
desire to further their knowledge, and can get along pleasantly enough
with them. But Jopenstanruk considers the vast remainder of Empire to
be mean, brutish characters whose maniacal quest for domination is
a powerful obstacle to the studies of more reasonable scholars.
After being repeatedly bludgeoned by Blades and stabbed by Shadows,
Jopenstanruk has more or less come to view the empire as a personal
threat to himself, in addition to being a general threat to the pursuit
of knowledge. Exceptions are the scholars who've joined the society
and seem to be more devoted to magical study than the empire itself.
Order of the Sorcere
Added Tue Dec 20 14:31:15 2005 at level 51:
Jopenstanruk was pleased with the first meeting of the Order and with the discussions
and ideas contributed. He was glad to see interest from scholars of all different
guilds and ages, each contributing different ideas. Jopenstanruk is also encouraged
by the meeting with Zebulus and his general support of the Order, He hopes to continue
seeking out those mages who share the Order's goals, and to work with the other
scholars to acquire the resources needed to possibly begin construction of a permanent
home for the Order.
Interest in Dragons
Added Mon Jan 16 16:47:23 2006 at level 51:
Jopenstanruk's interest in dragons was sparked by the assault of Galadon
by a large, eight-headed dragon and by the interesting new behavior displayed
by the beast. He's curious to understand the new behavior and how it came
about. Jopenstanruk is generally interested in the various dragon lore and
histories which may be found, but his particular interest is in the biology
and behavior of the beasts.
