Description
This diminutive creature stands before you looking to almost have to stretch
to reach three feet tall. His stature expresses confidence and peace with
where he is at in life.. upright with no sense of fear. Earth tones color his
garb from the deep browns of his leather, to the earthen tones of sown tweed.
He caresses an unetched silver badge between his thumb and his forefinger as
you look a little closer at him.
A full head of brown hair seems to have been unkept for years upon his large
circular head. It wisps with his movements seeming to outline his facial
features perfectly. A large forehead sits upon the top third of his face,
wrinkling and uncreasing with the expressions of his face. Directly below are
two jade green eyes that sparkle with even the slightest glint of light, and
two large brown eyebrows right above them.. almost seeming like two
caterpillars. His nose is almost disturbingly large as the nostrils flare
with each huff he takes. Last but not least, a smirk is smeared from ear to
ear with his pale lips with a looking of knowingness.

Role
The Awakening

Kagriel awoke slowly as the thick gray fog of dreams dispersed in his mind.
His vision finally realigned into a physical sense forcing him to squint his
eyes from the glowing moon above him. Realizing he laid upon his back he
attempted to sit up as excruciating pain disagreed with his action
immediately. Falling down to his original position, he tried to collect his
thoughts.
Feeling as if locked into combat with his mind, he jabbed at it...
"How did I get here?" ... ECHO eCHO ecHO echO echo...
"Where am I?" ... ECHO eCHO ecHO echO echo...
"WHO THE HECK AM I!? ... ECHO ECHO ECHO EcHo echo...
The last scream forced him in violent coughs, reminding him of the forgotten
memories of a shattered and beaten body until he slipped into unconsciousness
once again.
Almost as if in an out of body experience, he pushed through the almost solid
fog of his dreams. Trying to figure out even the smallest hint, trying to
even catch echoes of the slightest noise, he could get nothing. Determined,
he pushed through until the repetitive motion made all the time seem like not
even a second.
His eyes opened once again as his aggravated gnomish growl was immediately
drowned out by a hungry wolf.. which was joined by another.. and another..
and another.
Saved and B(a/e)ttered

Kagriels' large nostrils ceased flaring as he calmed his breathing to almost
non-existence. Ravenous growls closed in on him as the slight odors of wet
leaves and earth wafted over his face, though he had time enough to realize
how foreign that smell really was. Closing his eyes, he prepared himself to
face death with hundreds of unanswered questions...
"Be calm..." whispered the wind.
To Kagriels' amazement the wolves all stopped around him and laid down as if
waiting for more instructions.
"He is a chosen one.. nourish him as your kits.. make him well" it whispered
again.
Weeks passed as the wolves never faltered in obedience. The earth had
embraced Kagriel as it's new child yet he had no clue as to why, or even how
real it truly was. His broken limbs were straightened and encased in vines,
his bruises yellowing, his gashes itched with healing. Through all of it, the
wolves were always faithful in providing meals from the land... from raw
rabbit and mushrooms, to nuts and grains... Kagriel depended on them.
After months passed, the vines wilted away as if only being alive for him,
and he was finally able to rise to his feet...
Step into the Cycle

Looking over his diminutive stature, he tried to remember anything about
himself. Clothed in leather breeches and a leather vest, he had nothing else
to invoke memories except a small steel badge. It was rubbed smooth as if
years of cherished possession erased anything it stood for. He held it
between his stubby fingers after meditating on it for some time with nothing
but a subconscious caress of it over and over.
Snapping out of his meditation, he glanced about himself, finally realizing
the wolves laid upon their stomachs around him... waiting for his next move.
After locking eyes with the leader, the wolf almost seemed to speak to him as
it rose to it's feet and motioned it's head as if to follow. Kagriel took his
first step forward as the other wolves rose...
Moonlight, Sunlight, Dying Leaves, Budding Branches, Blankets of Snow, Flower
Filled Fields, Rotting Trees, Still Standing Monoliths, Bugs to Berries,
Delicious to Poisoned...
A full year had passed, and he far from regretted that first step, nor could
he stop thinking about it. It meant everything, the catalyst to any epic
journey... the sprout that started life... and he took it with friends he had
come to love dearly.
The haunting truth of his lack of memory taunted him, but that fear was
quenched by Creation. How could something with no voice speak so loud? He
began to hear those whispers to the point of feeling them. Rooted life
sounded so beautiful, but beginning life was his favorite.. and the Earth
seemed to reach into his soul to begin teaching him how to create that
melody...
Departure and Guidance

Continued lessons from the Earth and Wolves led Kagriel to come to terms with
his present state. How could he be exposed to this life and not want
everything to do with it? Unsureities always floated in the mist of his mind,
but the moment he made that decision, small spaces in that mist disappeared.
It was dispersed by something that seemed to matter, and it was nothing but a
good feeling.
Primal feelings and actions took him over more and more by the passing days.
He felt a fight in him, yet the fight of the wolves was what inspired him. He
wanted to strengthen their fight, to preserve it, and the sound of that
preservation is the role he knew was his.
After that realization the Earth almost seemed to channel through him, he
could feel it's power teaching him how to preserve life. It was complicated
by the paradox of truth between what needed to heal and what didn't through
the cycle of life, but he was learning.
The winds finally spoke to him one evening, it was his time to move forward
alone, for the wolves had played their part. Their nomadic journey led him
out of the uncharted land to a place called Thera, as guidance filled his
mind..

An Overview

-Kagriel has not one memory of his past. The clouded fog of them annoys him
to the point of anything resembling it makes him anxious, angry, and
loathing. From smoke to mist, even faerie fog.
-The beauty of Creation has drawn out, what he believes, his destiny within
him. After hearing the wind, knowing how real it truly is, he feels nothing
can change that destiny.
-He holds his badge dear, hoping one day, it could at least lead him to what
he once was. Losing it would be a destructive day on his emotions.
-Knowing the Earth has granted him a small bit of healing power, he cannot
help but want more. The winds directed him to a Great Ancient named
Jasthrean. Praying a deity so great could lead him into greater power,
Kagriel has began seeking him out.
-Groolth, his family name, yet completely unaware. Perhaps he will someday
remember who his Father really was.. or perhaps he shouldn't..
-Let the inquisitive soft natured spirit of Kagriel Groolth begin, and may
the Earth lead him to the narrow trail that is his, and only his.
Defiled

Kagriel strolled through the trees admiring the shadows the afternoon sun was
setting as it all grew much dimmer suddenly. Whirling around he caught gaze
of an Imp swallowing a giant bite of the blazing star. The Imp cackled and
disappeared suddenly as Kagriel stopped in his steps with caution. Trying to
listen to the wind, loud screams of agony and ecstasy started all at once...
the voice no doubt that of a water nymph.
"Wh-wh-what is this thing!" he exclaimed.
Blending in deeper with the woodland, he tentatively waited.. not knowing
whether this was friend or foe. Nodding to himself, he ran to the refuge of
the Great Tree and waited.
"Nothing can get me here!" burst from his lips, "But what could he have done
to make the nymph utter such sounds!"
Before he was finished with his next blink, his feet were ripped from the
earth and whisked away to the feet of Lyristeon. "I will show you!" cackled
the diminutive Imp.
Completely frozen, Kagriel reverted deep into his mind with helplessness over
his own body. The Imp darted and dashed around him for a moment before
latching onto him, ripping chunks of his flesh away with a gaping maw. It
lasted an eternity to Kagriel until he finally regained control of his
body...
Falling over in gruesome pain, he nearly passed out before the Imp started
laughing and filled him with the most pleasureful healing rush he had ever
felt. Casting Kagriel out of the Eerie Cavern they dwelled in, he found
himself in the Tree once more. Clutching his knees to his chest he did not
know what to even feel until his exhausted form slouched over into sleep.
A Spot in the Fog

The thick murky fog of his dreams plagued him once again. A desolate
wasteland with nothing but himself as usual, but this time was different..
"Wh-what is that clear spot ahead!?" he exclaimed in his subconscious.
Bursting into a full sprint, for a gnome at least, he stumbled into an
opulent room. Blinking with curiosity, Kagriel looked at the five guards
sitting around a table with an overly familiar face at the head.
"Provost Groolth! You cannot stand for this madness! He is of the damned, the
forest talks to him!" echoed around the walls so lightly that Kagriel
wondered if he made it up trying to hear.
The so called Provost sobbed with a hanging head as two men held his arms to
the table. Kagriel rushed beside the man to try and get a better look until
he realized he was standing next to himself, shackled under the table.
Blinking with disbelief he watched himself yanked from beneath as the other
two men began to bludgeon him repeatedly.
Screaming out in terror, he was powerless as he watched himself cry out in
pain. Blood burst from his mouth from the force of the blows until he did not
breath anymore and nearly every bone looked to be broken in his body.
"His twin will be the heir, get rid of the body!" yelled one of the men as he
poured a vial of red liquid into the mouth of the beaten gnome. The fog of
Kagriels' dreams swallowed the entire setting just as fast as the body
disappeared into nothingness. Screams of "My son! My son!" faintly vibrated
until Kagriel woke up back underneath the Tree shaking.
Renewed Strength

The nips of laughter coming from the Imp in the sky suddenly were irrelevant
as Kagriel tried to piece everything together. It was like the entire forest
could feel his newfound realization, even Lin-Ha was giving him extra
attention.
"An heir to what... " he shamefully whispered under his breath. "Was I.. was
I a... city person?"
The soothing presence of the Harbinger became apparent as Kagriel whirled
around to meet her gaze. Feelings of shame and embarrassment filled him as he
looked at the soil. "Where you there the whole time Harbinger?" he uttered as
he looked up to her.
"Your path has been set Kagriel, and your past makes no difference anymore.
You were chosen by the Earth, and you were called to this Tree. You have to
be at peace with your spirit, and know how you feel now reflects nothing of
old feelings. Live free, Fight free, and Heal free. This is your life now."
as she calmly nodded at him before moving to aid the Huntress.
"B-b-but, what if the past still hurts?" he whimpered, yet she was already
gone. Clutching onto his staff, he gritted his teeth. "Not dying to the past
is the same as any code or law! It will only change me, and put me into
bondage! I AM FREE!" he cried with vigor.
Taking a deep breath, he felt like he had conquered a stumbling block. "I
trust in this Tree, and I trust in you Lord Jasthrean.. be the moonlight on
my true path..."
