Description
A proud and haughty looking dark elf standing at roughly feet in height.
His lean body is protected by light but strong looking armor. It appears
well cared for and looks of fine make. Thick white, almost grey hair is
pulled back behind his head in a warriors braid. A contrast to violet eyes
and dark skin of his angular face. The nose however is slightly bent, looks
to have been broken at some point and it otherwise ruins the symmetry of his
features. Several small interconnected rings adorn his pointed ears. Various
insignia adorn his armor but you do notice that his arms, that which are
visible, are covered in small scars. Could be battle scars, but it is
difficult to tell.

Chapter One.

Kalanzt's lot was decided for him on the day of his birth.
The fates decided he would not be born female and have power unearned.
Instead he would have to strive for it and earn his place in the
Underdark. Though the heights he would reach would be limited indeed.
Kalanzt of course did not think of these things as a youth. As soon as
he was old enough to hold a dagger, one was thrust into his small hands.
The training in the dance of blades would soon follow. He quickly showed
competence and a natural skill with weapons, though many of the other
trainees did also. But when Kalanzt focused there were few that could surpass
him. Unfortunately that focus did not always come easy.
As much as Kalanzt enjoyed bringing pain to others, he began to realise
that it was after he was hurt in a fight that his true skill would shine.
Everything seemed to slow as he gained a clarity of focus, like never
before. He started to self harm before his training bouts, drawing a knife
across his arm, somewhere that would be hidden by a bracer or such.
Now there were none that could best him, and he easily put aside opponent
after opponent.
But it become an addiction, a story simply told by the unexplained cuts
upon his arms if anyone was to look. Victory was all that mattered, at least
that was how he sought to believe it. Clarity was needed to win, a little
bit of blood was a small price to pay.
Chapter Two.

With Kalanzt's clear ability now on display, he dreamt of greatness and
power. So when it was he was granted a position as a Patroller of the city
the despair and anger engulfed him. Surely he was far better than that.
It was compounded by his younger sister, now training in the Priesthoods,
she had done nothing to earn it of course, yet he was forced to bow to her
whenever she passed in the streets. The Matron Mothers were one thing,
but this was beyond reason.
Kalanzt started to forsake his duties, finding himself in the slave pits
more and more. Their pitiful cries putting the despair at bay for a time.
His superiors made note of it of course and his punishments were severe
but even that did not break him out of his melancholy.
However it was through one of his frequent visits to the slave pens that he
learnt of the overland Empire. That anyone could rise to the greatest heights
and that power there was earnt not freely given by a quirk of fate.
He knew where he had to go.
