Description

You see before you a tall handsome man, stretching to six and a half feet in length. His hair is thick and light colored, much as it was in his youth. It falls about his shoulders and covers a face that you imagine was once dashing and full of youth. He is still remarkably handsome, but lines have begun to form at the corners of his intense blue eyes. He has the look of a seasoned veteran of many battles, yet there are no scars anywhere on his face. His large hands however, have many scars and callouses. He is still barrel chested with broad shoulders and thick arms. His armor and weapons, though mismatched, appear well used and well cared for.

I am Kale Jast.  I remember the day I left Udgaard for her like it was
yesterday.  The rain slapped the Galadonian streets as I walked to the bank.
The lightning cut the night air and the thunder made the beggars cower under
the eaves of the buildings.  I had sent porters to Udgaard to clean out my
humble dwelling there and move it to Hamsah Mu'tazz.  I had purchased a home
in the southeast of the city, one that looked out over the wall into the
Tahril Mountains and onto the mouth of the Khalid River.  There I will start
a family with her.  I am in danger of becoming a good man.

I was in love.

I am Kale Jast.  I remember the day I gave in to her like it was yesterday.
We were on the Goddess Neltouda's mighty ship.  The rain swirled about us,
the lightning and thunder snapped in unison.  She wanted me to change, to
show restraint in war.  I couldn't do it.  I left in anger.  She wouldn't
accept me for who I was, the woman I had loved since the day that I saw her.
I am a soldier, a warrior.  But I am nothing without her.  I fell into a
murderous rage.  I fought everyone, I slaughtered the Darsylonian citizenry.
I didn't care whether I lived or died.  I just wanted to kill.  Something
inside me left when I left her.  I had to have her, she made me whole.  I
went to her.  I would try, I would show restraint.  I would bypass, instead
of cutdown my obstacles.  I was in love.

I was speechless.

I am Kale Jast.  I remember the day I met her like it was yesterday.  The
rain outside the Inn was so thick I barely noticed the trail turning off of
East Sumner's Road.  Only the clap of thunder and flash of lightning raised
my head from the ground to see the sign.  A warm fire, a pint of grog.  Would
be nice.  I saw her near the bar, smiling and joking with another herald.  I
couldn't even speak.  I didn't seem to notice at the time that she was both
an elf, and a paladin.  My father, the bastard, would be so dissapointed.
She was and still is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.  I was
speechless.

Kale will not seek out Neltouda.  The storms are a part of his life, but
there are too many other things going on with the character to make an
effective Neltouda follower.  Kale only spoke to one Theran about it.  He
will cite a devotion to the dark gods, particularly the dark gods of war as
his reason for giving up this path, if it ever comes up.  Arriku began as
just another woman on his long list of women, cause you know, hes handsome
and stuff.  He does have feelings for her.  Where this will go, with him
being loyal to Udgaard, her being a paladin?  Who knows?  It will play out
the way it plays out.  I would put my money on him using her to his own gain
somehow.  But I wouldnt rule out a redemption action in the distant future
either.Only the gods will tell&.  He will remain loyal to Udgaard, and the
Village in any case, leaning more and more Village as time goes on.

I am a murderer.

I am Kale Jast.  I killed my own father.  I remember it as if it were
yesterday.  The rain fell as hard as his beatings on the flagstones of the
parade square.  The lightning lit up his face, the thunder boomed with his
voice.  I wasnt even being punished, for he was also my commander.  We were
flogged when we were punished.  He was just being a bastard.  He hit me with
his fists, my lips were split and my nose bleeding.  I was bigger than him
now.  I was fourteen.  Enough was enough.  I rose to my feet and he screamed
at me a challenge.  He stepped towards me and my blade came out.  Straight
through his mouth and out the back of his head.His body fell limp.  I ran.
I prayed for the dark gods to cover my trail.  The storm responded in kind.
I am a murderer.

I am Kale Jast.  I watched my brother burn by the wrath of the so called holy
gods.  I remember it as if it were yesterday.  The rain was so heavy that the
ground we stood on was washing away beneath us.The world exploded with
every flash of lightning, and I thought the thunder would crush my head.  I
was following my brother up the hill, carrying the standard of Udgaard Loke.
He slaughtered many men that day.  But he met his match near the top of the
hill.  As we ran, I slipped in the mud, the standard fell before me and I
scrambled to grab it up and carry it on.  As I regained my footing I looked
up to see a holy knight smash my brother to the ground with his hammer.He
raised his hand in triumph and a different kind of lightning split the air.
I can still hear my brothers screams.  I skewered that paladin through his
throat with the standard of Udgaard.  The dark gods must have been watching
over me, guiding my hand.  He was a mighty hero.  I was twelve.

I was a soldier.

I am Kale Jast.  I killed my first man at the age of eight.  I remember it as
if it were yesterday.  The rain spattered on the bloodstained stones and
thunder rattled my brain.  The lightning cut the air, I could feel its heat.
The jaette slapped my back with a grin on his face and pressed the knife into
my hand.  He said to me. Here. He was drawing his finger across the mans
throat.His face was twisted in gleeful malice.  I plunged the knife in and
drew it across.  Blood sprayed and splattered all over my face.  I drew back
and cringed.  The jaette simply chuckled, passed me a dirty rag and told me
to clean up.  Two cups of grog for me tonight.  That is how they make you a
killer in Udgaard, that is when you become a soldier for the immortal Udgaard
Loke.  We humans are to become commanders of his armies, soldiers to carry
his banner beyond the Farm.  I was a soldier.

I am Kale Jast. I was born in the mountains north of Udgaard, to the most
hateful bastard to ever grace Thera, and a beautiful woman he would beat to
death in front of me.  I remember my mothers death as if it were yesterday.
Rain dripped through the roof of our poorly thatched hut.  The thunder and
lighting were so intense I thought the world was going to end.  I thought the
gods were tearing Thera apart from the outside in.  My mother tried to stop
him from beating my brother and I.  He was twelve, I was four.  He crushed
her skull with a cast iron pot.The soup got spilled everywhere, we took the
beating for that.  I remember laying on the floor in tears, staring into what
was left of my mothers sapphire eyes.  I remember when they went dark.I
was only four.

Kale Jast. Loyal to Udgaard above all else. He sees that city as the pinnacle
of law and order, believing other orderly institutions to be corrupt and
inefficient. Fears and respects the gods, particularly the dark ones. Raised
outside of the city. Son to a soldier who beat him mercilessly until he
murdered him at 14. Killed his first man at 8. It was storming. Just part of
the training to be a soldier in Udgaard Loke's army. Left Udgaard after
killing his father. Evaded the bounty hunters sent after him during a
thunderstorm. Born during a thunderstorm. Will seek Neltouda because of his
kinship to the storms, as well as his tendencies towards fame and fortune.
Will seek the Village because he believes magic to be the providence of the
gods, and only the gods.
