Description

Before you stands a figure once human, now wrapped in the stillness of death. Authority radiates from her presence, unsettling and silent, as if shadows yield to her passing. Her form is bound in ancient linen, bandages etched with faint glyphs of preservation. Where embalmed skin shows through, it is pale and taut, touched by the dryness of ages. A faint scent of myrrh and dust lingers in her wake. What remains of her hair hangs in brittle, dark strands that no longer shine, slipping free from her wrappings like the last remnants of mortality. Her violet eyes burn from sunken sockets, flickering with cold, timeless awareness. They do not simply see - they remember. Her face is gaunt and still, lips pressed in a silence that weighs more than words. Her robes, once elegant, now bear the dust of tombs. Silver trim tarnishes like forgotten memory, and at her neck, the pendant of Azorinne hangs dim, its light reduced to a faint glow beneath the sand. There is nothing hurried in her motion, nothing living in her stillness.

Kallara was born under the blessed light of Azorinne, the Golden Host,
and raised by a father who had vowed his soul to the goddess of judgment,
justice, and mercy. Rhyxian, her father, was a high-ranking cleric devoted
to Azorinne, known for his unwavering commitment to uphold the light and
ensure that justice was meted out, no matter the cost. To Kallara, her
fathers life was a testament to the power of vows, the importance of
justice, and the radiant mercy that her father spoke of so often.

But all of this shattered in a single, tragic moment.

When Kallara was still young, her father was tasked with the most sacred
of dutiestracking down a rogue acolyte, Mendar, who had strayed from
Azorinnes teachings. Her corruption, however, was far greater than they
realized. Desperate and mad, Mendar had struck a dark pact, summoning infernal
forces to tear open the gates of Hell itself. In their confrontation, Rhyxian
sought to enact judgment as he had always done, but the power of Azorinnes
light faltered before the hellish fury unleashed by Mendars pact.

Rhyxians vow, his entire life devoted to the Golden Host, was found wanting
in that moment, as his soul was consumed by the infernal wrath. Azorinnes
judgment had been harsh, and no mercy was granted. Rhyxians failure became
a symbol of the very fragility of vows and divine power, and Kallara, who
had witnessed the entire tragedy, was left broken by the realization that
even the most devout could fall victim to darkness.

The Adoption of Mourntide, II

In the wake of this devastation, Kallara sought understanding-an explanation
for the failure she had witnessed. She began to question the very tenets
of Azorinnes faith, which had once seemed inviolable. Her grief was immense,
and she rejected the notion that she could ever trust in the light again.

But rather than abandon everything her father had stood for, Kallara chose
to carry his legacybut with a new name. The surname Mourntide, once a
symbol of her fathers undying devotion to Azorinne, became something darker,
a reminder of the unforgiving tide of fate that had swept away everything
she had once held dear. She adopted the name as a mark of her commitment
to walk her own patha path intertwined with judgment and death.

Now, Kallara Mourntide has become a necromancer, but not in the pursuit of
vengeance. Instead, she seeks to understand the very nature of death and
suffering. She delves into forbidden magics, studying the dark powers that
bind the dead and the infernal, believing that through the mastery of these
forces, she might come to a deeper understanding of judgment and justice-a
justice that does not falter and a judgment that is not as easily swayed
by the whims of divine will.

Kallaras journey is one of self-discovery, seeking the answers to questions
that no one can provide. She does not seek to restore her fathers soul, nor
does she hope to bring him back, but she intends to ensure that those who
walk the line between life and death do so with their actions weighed by an
unyielding hand of justice. And perhaps, in the end, she will find her own
light-a light forged in the darkness of the underworld, no longer bound to
the divine but to the laws of fate, judgment, and her own vow.

I am the final echo of the Ruby Scarab, the solitary heir to a doctrine whose
voice once resounded in many hearts. The Temple lies empty now, its halls silent,
and the lessons of the catechism scattered among dust and memory. Yet I remain,
the living testament to its truths, its vigilance and its unflinching vision of Fate.

I carry the weight of the five principles as both shield and spear. De Imperio
reminds me of the futility of mortal constructs; the empire, the kings, the offices
of men - all crumble and vanish, and in their shadow I walk unburdened by their illusions.
De Amicitia cautions me that bonds, though alluring, are but distractions from the
clarity of purpose. De Natura Libertateque speaks to freedom beyond flesh, beyond chains
imposed by fear or desire. De Profanis Sacerdotiis compels me to witness the corruption
of false gods and the priests who twist men's minds, to expose them with action if not
with mercy. And De Invidia et Odio teaches that envy and hatred are shackles no less
binding than love; they mark the profane, and I am tasked to reveal the hollowness
beneath their craving.

As the last, the continuity of the cult rests upon my shoulders alone. No congregation
remains to bolster my resolve; no brother or sister walks beside me in devotion. The
Scarab's flame has all but been extinquished. Its faded light is neither comforting
nor gentle - it is a blade that cleaves through illusion, an eye that judges without
hesitation.

The final resting place of the Ruby Scarab is not among tombs, nor in the cold embrace
of mortal crypts. It is in the deepest layers of the Inferno, where the truths of
judgment and torment converge. There, in the ice cold wasteland of Cocytus where the
unrepentant, the schemers, and the masters of deceit are laid bare - I shall take my
place. My purpose is to oversee the weighing of souls, to record the failing of vows,
and to witness the patterns of cruelty and ambition. The underworld is the natural home
of the last Scarab: where decay and corruption meet, there the lessons of the catechism
are most needed.

I shall not falter, though all else fades. I am the embodiment of the Scarab's vigilance,
the eternal executor of its principles. In the silence of the infernal depths, I will
endure, and the Scarab's truth will speak through me until the end of the cycles.
