Role
The Child

Kardir was just a small child when their village was raided by a group of
bandits. They were taken from their home and their family, and brought to the
bandits' camp, deep in the forest.
Kardir was terrified and confused, and they cried out for their parents, but
no one answered. The bandits saw the child as nothing more than a burden and a
mouth to feed, and they were ready to leave Kardir behind to die. But one of
the bandits, a woman named Jolie, took pity on the child and decided to raise
them as her own.
Jolie was kind to Kardir, and over the years, she taught them how to survive
in the forest and how to fight. She also taught them about the bandits' code
of honor: to always look out for each other, to never betray a comrade, and to
never show fear in the face of danger.
Kardir grew up among the bandits, and they became skilled in the art of combat
and stealth. They learned to use a variety of weapons, but they had a
particular talent for longer weapons, staves and polearms. As they grew older,
they became a valuable member of the group, and they participated in many
raids and skirmishes.
But even as they embraced the life of a bandit, Kardir never forgot their
past. They often dreamt of their home village and their family, and they
wondered what had become of them. They also had a nagging feeling that there
must be more to life than just plundering and fighting.
The Bandit

Years later Kardir, was a member of a group of bandits led by a brutal captain
named Raze. They had been raiding villages and towns for years, and Lost had
always been a loyal and skilled member of the group.
But one day, Raze led the bandits on a raid on a small village that was known
for its wealth and resources. Kardir had participated in many raids before,
but this one was different. As they ransacked the homes and businesses, they
saw the fear and desperation in the eyes of the villagers. They saw children
crying for their parents and elderly people cowering in fear.
Kardir began to feel a sense of guilt and disgust for the actions of the
bandits. They had always justified their raids as a way to survive and to get
what they needed, but now they saw the true cost of their actions. They also
realized that they had no real attachment to the village or its people, and
that they were just using them for their own gain.
After the raid, Kardir couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. They started
to have doubts about their life as a bandit, and they wondered if there was a
better way to live. They began to dream of a different future, one where they
could use their skills to protect and defend others, rather than to harm and
plunder.
That was when Kardir made the decision to leave the bandits and search for a
new purpose in life. They set out into the world, hoping to find a place where
they belonged and a cause they could believe in.
A new life

Kardir had been traveling for weeks, trying to put as much distance as
possible between themselves and their old life as a bandit. They had no idea
where they were going, but they were driven by a sense of restlessness and a
desire to find a new purpose.
One day, as they were making their way through a dense forest, they heard the
sounds of battle up ahead. They approached cautiously, not sure what to
expect.
As they emerged from the trees, they saw a group of paladins of Baerinika
fighting against a horde of
goblins. The paladins were heavily outnumbered, but they fought with determination and courage. Kardir
was impressed by their skill and their conviction, and they felt a sudden urge
to join the fight.
Without hesitation, Kardir drew their weapons and rushed into the fray. They
fought alongside the paladins, using all of their training and experience to
take down the goblins. When the battle was over, the paladins looked at Kardir
with gratitude and respect.
One of the paladins, a woman named Selene, approached Kardir and thanked them
for their help. She asked them who they were and where they were going. Kardir
hesitated, not sure how much to reveal.
"I'm Kardir," they said finally. "I used to be a bandit, but I left that life
behind. I don't know where I'm going, but I know I don't want to go back."
Selene looked at Kardir with understanding and compassion. "We all have a
past, Kardir," she said. "But it's not our past that defines us, it's what we
do with our future. If you're looking for a new purpose, you might find it
with us. We are the paladins of Baerinika, and we fight to defend the innocent
and the weak. If you're willing, you can join us on our quest."
Kardir looked at Selene and the other paladins, and they knew that they had
found their new home. They nodded and joined the group, embarking on a new
journey as a paladin of Baerinika.
The Paladin

Kardir had been traveling with the paladins for several months, learning the
ways of the goddess Baerinika and fighting alongside them to defend the
innocent. They had grown close to their comrades and felt a sense of belonging
and purpose that they had never known before.
One day, the paladins received word of a goblin invasion in the jungle, and
they set out to confront the threat. As they made their way deeper into the
jungle, they encountered many dangers, but they remained undaunted, driven by
their faith and their duty.
Finally, they arrived at the Shrine of Baerinika, a hidden temple deep in the
jungle. It was a place of great power and mystery, said to be protected by the
goddess herself. The paladins hesitated to enter, fearing that they were
unworthy to stand in the presence of the goddess.
But Kardir felt a strong pull towards the shrine, and they stepped forward,
determined to pay their respects and seek guidance from the goddess. The
paladins hesitated, but they saw the conviction in Kardir's eyes and they let
them go.
Kardir walked alone into the shrine, feeling a sense of awe and reverence.
They saw a group of Priestess praying and attending to a large altar and they
joined them, bowing their head in prayer.
As they prayed, Kardir felt a sense of peace and clarity wash over them. They
knew that they had found their true calling, and they vowed to serve the
goddess and defend the innocent with all their strength.
When they emerged from the shrine, the paladins looked at Kardir with respect
and admiration. They knew that Kardir had been touched by the goddess, and
they welcomed them as a full-fledged paladin of Baerinika. Together, they set
out to continue their quest and to spread the light of the goddess to the
darkest corners of the world.
Righteous Rage

***** An excerpt from the journal of Kardir ****
Today, I was confronted with a difficult decision. I came upon a group of
adventurers terrorizing the city of Darsylon, and I was torn between my duty
to protect the innocent and my desire to punish the perpetrators.
At first, I felt a surge of anger and a desire for revenge. I wanted to strike
down the adventurers and make them pay for their crimes. But then, I
remembered the teachings of Baerinika and the virtues of the paladin. I knew
that unbridled anger was not the way of the goddess.
So, I took a moment to calm myself and to focus on my purpose. I remembered
that my rage was not just for myself, but for the sake of the innocent and the
weak. I channeled that rage into a righteous cause, and I fought with honor
and conviction.
In the end, I was able to defeat the bandits and protect the village. But more
importantly, I was able to control my emotions and to use my rage for a noble
purpose. I am grateful for the guidance of Baerinika and for the path of the
paladin, which helps me to stay true to my beliefs and to use my strength for
good.
