Description

Before you is a felar so small that its hard to believe hes not a child. He stands no more than eight and a half hands tall and can weigh no more than two stone. He is covered with dark-gray and black stripes that work to break up his outline against the background. This coupled with his diminutive stature makes it hard to follow him as he pads about with amazing swiftness and ease over and around any obstacle. He is armed and armored though the weapons he wield are clearly those that arent an encumbrance to his smaller size.

Role

How his beliefs fit into Baerinika's way.

Added Mon Sep 21 15:47:00 2009 at level 45:
COURAGE: Is not fearlessness it facing down ones fear.

The world is a huge place to Kaskin, given his small stature. Even a large
gnome carries the psychological gravity a normal human would associate with
another human who was taller and bigger than them. So many things and many
people are daunting to him but he struggles to push past his fears, perhaps
over compensating in the process. Courage isnt the absence of fear in his
life, it is how he copes with it. A coward flees it, a courageous man
acknowledges his concerns and faces them.

PURITY: He believes in absolute freedom, even when it comes to opinions he
disagrees with. The exception being those opinions that espouse limiting the
free will and freedom of another who is doing nothing to cause undue harm to
others.

Kaskin is a free willed and free thinking being. He believes all sentient
beings have an inalienable right to their own will. This is center to his
hatred of Conjurers and slavers as they deny a person or being his destiny.
As for lawmen guards, and Magistrates, he doesnt begrudge them their
choices, he just doesnt believe they have any right to tell him what he can
and cant do. That they band together and have a system of laws that are
designed to alter his behavior is what makes them his enemy but he doesnt
necessarily count them as worthy of death because they fear freedom. This
doesnt give him a view of moral relevance. Right and wrong are black and
white to him, but not every crime deserves death. Although he believes some
people need to die he feels that death is a punishment all too commonly
defaulted too.

COMBAT: Fight for what you believe is right.

You have to fight for your freedom, you have to fight for what you believe
in. There is respect in his heart for those who have a cause that is greater
than their own. There is respect in his heart for those who are willing to
die to preserve or promote those causes. He has no time for those who waffle
or hesitate to face down and defend what they believe to be right.

Quirks, Peculiarities and Flaws.

Added Thu Sep 10 14:16:01 2009 at level 12:
Kaskin by and large keeps to himself, traveling with few and is
subconsciously afraid to form strong attachments rarely expressing affection
or referring to people with any terms of endearment.

He has a loathing for Orcs that is embedded deep within his psyche now. He
never passes up the chance to cause mischief for an orc. Whether it be in the
form of harassment or an out right attack.

His macho flaw is rooted in Little Big Man Syndrome and generally manifests
in hurt feelings and an overt reaction when its implied he cant do
something. Its especially apparent when dealing with Orcs or any of the
larger races. Making fun of his size will typically cause him to depart.

His physical weakness and small size is due to his severe malnutrition as a
child. His body never recovered even though his spirit has.

His small statue has also guided his path as a ranger to that of the archer
out of necessity. Avoiding the crushing strength of powerful prey or
opponents is a must for the little Cat-man. After all a dagger is practically
a sword in his hands and a long sword a claymore.

Why so small Kaskin? Part II

Added Thu Sep 10 14:05:01 2009 at level 12:
The Elf whose name was Dalawain, immediately gained his trust and over the
course of a couple years, (Nothing to the elf) he taught the small felar how
to forage and provide for himself. Whats more he explained to Kaskin that
there was a Woman, who would never leave him in death or dead. Her name was
Baerinika and the Ranger drew him a map every day that showed the young felar
the way to her ruined shrine.

Dalawain explained the Dream and the Ancients to the Young felar and the
Outlanders. And he helped assuage Kaskins grief by explaining the cycles of
nature and guiding the small cat-man-child to an understanding of the natural
rhythms of life. But the elf also explained the righteousness of Kaskins
anger as it pertained to the horror that are the orcs. For they are apart
from nature. Demonic creations not descended from the ancients.

After a couple seasons past Dalawain bid Kaskin a heartfelt fairwell and
departed. Kaskin was not overly saddened this time as Dalawain had prepared
him well for the trails to come and Kaskin knew that he would see the elf
again someday.

Why so small Kaskin?

Added Thu Sep 10 14:03:47 2009 at level 12:
Kaskin has no last name that he can remember before he was orphaned. He has
no memory of his natural family only a vague nightmare of a kind felar woman
screaming and flailing as she was pulled from the bushes where she hid with
him before she was brained with a club by a brutish orc. He never saw his
mother again and of course and the trauma of her last moments is the only
memory he has left of her.

that he remembers only fear and hunger and pain as he fled through
briars and brambles. He was small enough that he was able to squeeze through
the brush where the massive orcs could not follow. He was too young to have
any advanced knowledge of survival but managed to survive, albeit in decline,
in a small bog south of the Holy Grove on a diet of insects and rodents
washed down with stagnant water. But it wasnt enough and eventually
starvation and parasitic infection took their toll and he collapsed bone thin
and delirious on a trail.

When he woke it was in the warm embrace of a young human female. She was a
gypsy woman of only 16 years named Cheena, and she had recently lost her
pregnancy and her own husband had never returned from a trading venture to
Aldevari (Orcs sign along his trail had every one fearing the worse). She
adopted him as her own and nursed him back to health with good foods and
herbal remedies that cleansed him of parasites. Kaskin was tolertared by the
xenophobic and shifty Gypsies, only because they took pity on Cheena and
didnt want to begrudge her the only happiness she seemed to have.

Kaskins early trials had taken their toll on him though. Already the runt of
the litter, his starvation had stunted his growth completely, locking him in
a body that would never grow above three feet tall. But like many short
people through out the realms and time, he developed an attitude of extreme
self-sufficiency. He took great pride in hunting and providing for his
adopted mother, and did his best to make sure that neither he nor she was a
burden to the Gypsy Band. And there was no place that he wouldnt go if it
meant making her happy and there was nobody he wouldnt stand up to if it
meant protecting her.

But history was to repeat its self. Tragedy reinserted its self when the
She was killed when orcs from the Uruk-Sulmog clan raided her families wagon
train along the eastern road. Ironically it was not far from where his birth
mother had perished 7 years prior.

Upon finding the burnt and mutilated carcasses of his adopted family Kaskin
fled with his grief back into the wilds where he found his bog and hid with
his misery for a season until he was discovered by an elven ranger who was
passing through on his way to the Drogran Hills to hunt Ugruk. Kaskin had
once again fallen into a disreputable state, though not nearly so bad as when
hed been a small child, and the elf was struck with sympathy.
