Description

Lingering casually before you is a well built human male. Warm sapphire eyes seem soft and inviting, their depths shining brightly with flash of quiet amusement. His shaved head showing countless creases and scars, while his well defined features now look aged and worn. From the lines of his face, to the high cheek-bones, and the determined set of his mouth still give this aging man an overall ruggedly handsome appearance. Adorning his evenly set ears are a pair of mithril studs which pierce the lobes. His aging body covered with old custom fitted armor, but still looks to be well cared for.

Role

General background

Added Tue Apr 4 10:15:23 2006 at level 35:
It wasn't long past my 4th birthday that my father started to
teach me little things. How to spot an important person, a
rich one, royalty, etc. He also taught me how to spot the
people that guarded them. Their stances with concealed weapons,
shifting eyes, the feigned ease at which they were always at
the ready. These are the things he said I would need to know
if I was to ever follow in his footsteps. He showed me how
to survive in the cities. He'd also take me out into the wilds
and give me lessons on concealment and evasion. Its almost as
if the point of my birth was merely to create the perfect
weapon with which to battle his enemies.

He was a hard man in his prime, but he was also very loving
and understanding towards me as a youth. I had very few friends
and the majority of my time was spent in his company. He taught
me to read, and write, to think and devise. "You must always
think ahead my son, think about your options and think about
theirs. Anticipate theirs moves and you will always come out
on tops." I learned as best I could from that old man before
he sent me out into the world to do my duty. I spent everyday
of my life praising the glory of the light, and listening to
tales of our Lord the honorable shokai. I say honorable because
that's exactly what he is. Honor doesn't necessarily play a role
in my life though. I use what I have to my advantage and I
have been known to be quite devious at times in the manner in
which I act. My intentions and my heart are always pure, but
I can come close to that line I think. I will never cross over
it intentionally however. I know my boundaries and I know
what is expected of me.

I am not a warrior. I am a scout. I help others stay strong
by guiding them to the unseen, and by giving whatever help I
am able to. I don't generally make my battles out in the open.
I tend to lurk about and pick off targets of opportunity. I
am willing to take risks, and willing to give my life for my
duty and for others. While that is true, it doesn't necessarily
always have to be that way. I do what I can to survive and to
bring strength to those around me. My only hopes are that when
all is said and done, I will have earned my place amongst the
fallen before me in the azure fields.

My father told me many great stories of victory and loss in my
youth. Told me about the warriors and paladins he would fight
next to on an almost constant basis. Showed me his scars and
told me of the many demons faced in an almost impossible manner.
All these great and courageous warriors that gave their life in
service of a greater good. That was me. That is what I would
do and with any luck I would be successful.

My goals is simple. Be the best I can be. That is all.

Kavan the Old Man

Added Sat May 6 21:44:26 2006 at level 51:
If only his father could see him now. Named Captain of
the famous brigade of the phoenix. While he knew his
father loved him as a child, the older man was not very
compassionate with Kavan. He chose to teach him the
harder lessons in life by letting him experience the pain
and harsh reality of things to come. In his youth Kavan
was a nice young fellow, often times shy in his way with
people, and often times choosing his words in a way that
would not appear rude or demeaning to the people who heard
them. As he has aged though, Kavan becomes more like his
father. The only role model in his life. He looks at the
squires as if they were his children in a manner, but he is
also somewhat harsh and demanding with them. His words can
come out as hard, rude, careless or any number of things to
them, but his heart is aimed in the right direction. He
loves them all as though they were family, and while some
might not agree with him, that doesn't stop him from letting
people know his views or ideals.

He seeks to do everything in his power the watch to make
sure that the fortress flourishes under his and hyzin's
command. He demands a lot from his squires, and seeks a
way to bring about quality in them, rather than a mass
quantity. In this manner he will be strict in his abilities
to bring new squires into the fortress as he expects them
to be up to his standard to begin their trek along the path
of the maran.
