Description

The man standing before you is of quite impressive hight considering his human heritage. Long midnight-black hair covers most of his face, but occasionally a hawk-like nose appears and at times even eyes with the dark green color of a pond, deep within a forest, given a second glance one will notice dark rings surrounding the eyes, hinting lack of sleep. Hardened muscles ripple beneath the bleached-white flesh of his arms and his large hands end up in clean, long fingernails.

Role

Homecoming

Added Thu Jun 19 12:00:35 2008 at level 42:
The sounds of the city of Hamsah Mu'Tazz died slowly with the setting sun, as
people moved to say their evening prayers and return to their homes for rest.
lonely creak of a door was that would herald the return of Kehade to the
home of his childhood. His father glanced up, his face a mask of
indifference as Kehade moved whisper quiet into the room.
"You have been using the family name." Kehade's father said without emotion.
"It is mine to use as I see fit, father." came Kehade's similarly flat reply.
"I thought we were clear that you need not return here."
"I have not come for you father, but rather..." Kehade let his voice trail
off as he pointed over his father's right shoulder.
"Nothing here belongs..." his father started, the words dying on his lips as
the vapor trail that he had only incidentally noticed was seeping through the
door took humanoid shape at Kehade's side, and the smell of sulfur, only
half-registered, grew overpowering as a devil from the depths of Hell itself
came through the doorway.
"You..." Kehade spoke past his now frozen father's shoulder, "are no longer
my mother. I have a new mother."
Kehade continued as he strode toward his mother by birth, "A Dark Mother."
The woman did not move, perhaps she was unable, or simply unwilling, as
Kehade pulled her into a Dark Embrace. He bit her and knew the taste of a
lifetime of fear and loathing. Of hate boiling so hot in her veins it felt
like fire, and a despair so cold it brought a shiver to his flesh. Tears
streamed down the woman's face as her lifeblood flowed into her son, and when
it was finished, Kehade rose, wiping a single tear of blood from his cheek,
and strode from this place, his former home, never to return.

Kehade's Vision of Beauty and Terror

Added Sun May 25 13:50:12 2008 at level 41:
The human stumbles into the clearing, muttering curses under it's breath.
The sense of something... predatory... out there, in the darkness wouldn't go
away. It is just the dark, it is nothing, it is my imagination the human
told itself, and yet the feeling remained. The clouds broke apart, and the
moon shown clearly on the clearing, bathing it in an eerie pale light. The
human's face showed relief for a moment, before going slack, mesmerized by
the being standing across the clearing.Pale beauty, fine clothing, features
finely chiseled and sculpted, and power radiating outward
human noticed. The pearlescent fangs, the hunger of it's eyes, and the
soundless advance, the human's brain would not register, the trance was too
thick. The clouds covered in the moon again, and all light was extinguished.
sound was made, no screams uttered, and as the human's eyes adjusted
slowly to the dark, it touched it's shoulder to find the source of the warmth
and wet. The human stares at it's fingers, it's brain trying desperately to
identify the warm liquid there. The being looks on from behind...
waiting... and basking in the sight of the spilled blood in the dark. It's
velvety color, the warmth upon it's lips, the light reflecting so subtly from
the crimson depths. The moment of realization comes, and the human knows a
moment of pure terror as it recognizes it's own lifeblood spilling from it's
veins. The being's lips curve into a cruel smile that shows predatory fangs
still covered in blood before it moves back toward it's prey, silent as the
night which surrounds them, and finishes the meal. Listening to the last
heartbeats of a creature bound up in the terror of a true nightmare, the
predatory being knows true beauty and rejoices in it.

Blood Child

Added Sun Apr 27 16:32:37 2008 at level 23:
After tasting of the fountain's blood, and first feeling the grasp of Lady
Eshval upon his soul, Kehade sought her out with a gift he thought would
please her. This encounter went as well as can be hoped when dealing with a
mad, evil deity, which is to say Kehade lived. Tasked to learn the beauty of
terror, to understand it's uses and applications, to know his own fears, and
to spill the blood of sentients, Kehade meditated deeply on his own past, and
attempt to discern his own true desires.

Kehade thought back, to his father's ways with the mercenaries, slaves, and
pets he would train. Kehade began to realize just how much they feared his
father, in fact, how much he feared his father. He remembered how the slaves
cowered before the lash, even as they begged for death... How the
mercenaries cried over their starving families, even as they refused work...
How his pets would flinch and hide from his father's Voice. But they all
served through the fear, because his father held reward as well as
punishment. To make them truely fear, Kehade thought, he gave them hope.
When one has nothing to live for, there is no more fear, but even the most
meager of rewards could drive a slave to break himself. And the best
trained, the most loyal, be they pets or slaves, or mercs for hire, they all
feared the Voice. The Voice of dissaproval, The Voice of dismissal... It
was just then, during this line of thought, Kehade realized he feared it just
as much, if not more, than any.He gained a new understanding of his
upbringing, and newfound respect for his father. How great a teacher, than
even in realizing the trick, one can't help but admire the deftness with
which it is performed.

Subconsciously, Kehade fears something else more. To become his mother. A
fixture in someone else's life, and yet to be totally eclipsed by them.If
the sun goes out, does the moon even exist? This is not something Kehade
admits to himself, but rather a unseen force, deep in his soul.To become
his own star.

As Kehade hunted for sentient blood for the first time in his life, he felt
as though his blood were boiling with excitement, and yes, fear. He
realized, that the fear comes from the first strike, especially if it is
unseen. He witnessed elves turn and run instantly, but as soon as they
thought they were safe, the fear subsided, only to swell again as Kehade and
his raven tracked them across the realms. This was a thing of beauty, to
chase after fleeing prey, blood running fast through the veins of bother
hunter and hunted. Kehade knew instantly it was here his passion lay. And
yet, the first kill was bittersweet. Yes, his prey was taken, and their
souls and fear a proper gift to the Lady Eshval, and yet, the hunt was no
more. The fear was no more. Ghosts know no fear, he thought, for they
unerringly cursed his name and called him weak, even as he stood over their
rotting corpses. Perhaps their was a lesson here, a way to make them fear
even beyond the grave, but it escaped him.

He decided to return to the Lady Eshval, blood of sentients on his soul, and
learn again at her feet.

Early Life and Family

Added Wed Apr 23 16:21:28 2008 at level 6:
Kehade Barriston was shaped by his home life, which is to say, by his father.

His mother was more fixture than parent, and as such, was a non-factor in his
upbringing. He has never had a true mother figure.

His father was a supplier of mercenaries, slaves and pets. From him Kehade
learned the patience needs to break a slaves will, the coercsion needed to
convince a mercenary to give his life for a client, and the dominance of
personality need to train a faithful pet.

When Kehade turned 18 and it was obvious he had talent for the magical arts,
it was his father that sent him to the academy with these words, "If I here
your name on the lips of others, that will be enough, you need not return
here to tell me yourself. In fact, it would be better if you didn't."

Kehade wouldn't consider his father evil, or himself so, but rather that they
are willing to do what needs to be done. Kehade doesn't take pleasure in
torment or torture, but wouldn't shy away from it either if it was
neccessary.

These are the forces that have shaped his early life and personallity. A
desire to prove himself to his father. An unconscious yearning for a
mother's love. The will to do what needs to be done.
