Role
Lotus Pedals, Love, and a Reason to Endure
Added Fri May 11 17:28:03 2012 at level 20:
As I hold the lotus pedals in my hand I am perplexed
and amazed by the gift She has given. They are moist
and luscious, almost as if they've survied on their own
source of water. I find myelf lost as I gaze into the
drops of dew dancing in the light.
I am a simple Elf, free from the arrogance of my high
kin, but well aware of my own beauty, my awe inspiring
voice, and my undying passion to love. The greatest of
all is love, it drives and inspires our every action.
Love brings meaning to existence, fills that which is
empty, comforts he who despairs, and thrills the mundane.
It is giving and kind, all encompassing, truly the most
powerful force that has been and ever will be. Wars
begin and end with it, grief is fueled and purged by it,
and greatness inspired and conqured with it. Nothing can
confuse or clarify moreso than love.
Many confound love with lust, some befuddle love with greed,
and others claim to know love in a mere hope to feel, but
end up deceiving themselves. It is my opinion that love
is a natural force, inherent in all beings. Those who
pursue any one thing over love, will find their existence
empty, their desires vacant, and most importantly their
lives uninspired and without real meaning.
Of all the forces in the land that can blind us to the
power of great love, magic is the most cursed of all.
Magic is diametrically opposed to love, for it clouds
the soul and confuses the senses. Magic produces
sensations and wonders that are not for this world. These
artificial amazements pale in comparison to true love, but
without question have the ability to distract from it and
in time destroy love altogether.
There is a reason why such power is saved for the heavens -
only the divine can see the complexities of the soul with
enough clarity to wield the powers of magic and still know
the vital importance of love.
Lady Rayihn is the pinnacle, the final goal, to shine second
to Her is to know perfection. Her celestial visage beams
down as a shining star in the night sky.
My goal and end is simple - destroy those who attempt to
harness the power of magic, the power directly opposed
to love in my view. Second, to gain her favor and know
Her adoration, and when my battle ends, to be embraced
by Her loving arms for eternity.
Magic, Love, and Bathing

I don't know what to make of my life just now. I believe
She cares for me, but perhaps I am just a play thing for
Her own amusement, one can never completely know when
dealing with a Goddess.
Regardless of Her true feelings, I have never witnessed
such beauty as I did within Her bathhouse. It is a
challenge to explain, but when She embraced me, it was far
more than skin to skin contact (as thrilling as that was),
it almost was as if She wrapped Her arms around my soul, in
an act more loving than anything I have ever experienced.
I have relentlessly pursued mage after mage, with little
success to speak of. My guildmaster has warned me of
foolish over-confidence, but I do not have time to sit
back and wait. It is vital that I prove my strength to
Her, that I bring a skull to Tahren, and that I move closer
to my goal.
What I ultimately know is that life will never be easy for
me and I have come to accept that. It is very probable
that I will never have Her in the way I so desperately
desire. Regardless, I shall show Her undying love and
devotion if for no other reason than to honor all that She
is.
If I never kill a mage, but feel Her warm kiss upon my
face, then I still have everything. If I fall a hundred
times, but get up each morning to see Her face, then I
have lost nothing.
But just perhaps... just perhaps... I will come into my
own, master my craft, and change the world a small bit for
the better.
Pursuit of Impossible Dreams
Added Fri May 18 18:45:21 2012 at level 29:
For a musician, it is often the works of others that
inspire the most. In a land far beyond what I could
even call distant, I once spent a fine evening in a
magnificent inn. There was an elderly gentleman present,
highly intoxicated, suited in armor from head to
toe, and clearly quite awkward in it.
During what seemed to be a drunk rambling, he performed
a song that forever changed my life. The words have
molded and carried me through the most difficult of
trials.
It is not a tale of conquering or victory, rather a
solemn creed that refers to life as a quest, a journey.
How we complete the journey determines our legacy,
nothing else matters.
Again, the words are not my own, they are quite famous
in some circles, but they mean so much to me and how
I view the world, I wanted to share them with you my
Lady, my Star.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Impossible Dream
To dream, the impossible dream
To fight, the unbeatable foe
To bear, with unbearable sorrow
To run, where the brave dare not go
To right, the unrightable wrong
To love, pure and chaste from afar
To try, when my arms are too weary
To reach, the unreachable star
This is my quest, to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for what's right, without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause
And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest
That my heart, will be peaceful and calm, when I'm laid to my rest
And the world, will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage
To reach, the unreachable star!

Lotus --PETALS--, Love and Carnal Desire
Added Sun May 27 14:27:21 2012 at level 47:
<<This appears to be a page torn from Kelarin's private journal>>
The spot on my wrist still aches, in a pleasant and pleasurable
way. The purple lotus is clearly more than just simple ink, it
is a living, thriving sign of my Lady's love. I am honored by
Her, respectful of Her, but now more than ever want to know Her
in the most intimate of ways. I long for the touch of Her lips
against mine and Her perfect body pressed into me. I wish to feel
Her soft, wonderfully fragrant hair surround me, consume me. I
want to kiss every naked inch of Her body, caress Her soft skin,
and make love to Her under the light of the stars.
Alas, I know She would never inhibit me from any act of love, but
I do fear breaking the purity of our relationship. Thus, I deny
my deepest desire in hopes of finding something more.
My Lady is a pure creature of love, She is not shackled by
convention and despite my slight frustration with it, I know She
doesn't have a desire to be 'mine'. It certainly doesn't mean I
will let down the pursuit, if She would give Her hand today
and swear to be with only me in a way that marriage would
allow, I would not hesitate a moment.
Despite my clear infatuation, I must not lose sight of my future and
place within the Village. I find the perverse taint of magic
over-bearing and a significant hindrance to true lovers everywhere.
It is also a significant tenant of Her faith, that I pursue and
achieve what makes me unique, this in turn will let Her love me
even more as time moves along.
If only She wasn't so incredibly sensual, beautiful, wonderful,
perfect...

A missive to my Commander
Added Thu May 31 19:46:35 2012 at level 51:
From : Kelarin Bal'tae
To : Commander Salyeris
Subject: Position of Drillmaster
I firmly believe that actions, not words are rewarded.
If one hopes to be treated a certain way, then he should
act accordingly. I am aware of my flaws as well as
my strengths. You already know that there is nothing
traditional about me, I won't berate, belittle or
breakdown our Kin. My goal is to inspire greatness by
fighting where others won't, enduring where others can't
and pursuing a dream that may never be realized, but
will always be necessary.
I will carry the mantle of Drillmaster in a way that has
not been wielded at any other time in our history, with
deep compassion and boundless love. Our foes will
underestimate it, our Kin will learn to treasure it, and
in time the village will flourish with the tremendous
strength that knowing great love brings.
I am far more than a crazy zealot with a dream, I am a
Battlerager, dedicated to an ideal and devoted to our
cause.
I ask you, my Commander, to consider my words. I will
make you and the Village proud, if blessed with the
opportunity to help lead, as your Drillmaster.
Intense emotion, whine and wine, and the complexity of love.
Added Sun Jun 3 08:23:40 2012 at level 51:
In my short three hundred and twenty-one years of life
I have struggled, thrived, felt tremendous pain and
certain bliss. I have seen my brethren come and go
and watched the sands of time fall quite quickly one
moment, while stagnating a breath later.
I'm not yet the man that I so deeply hope to be. There
is no way to truly know if my love, Rayihn, is proud of me
or inspired by me - perhaps the depths of her love allow
her to tolerate my frequent and severe mood swings.
Sublime emotion is the fuel for my art, it allows me to
inspire my Kin and terrify my foes. Alas, in love that
emotion can come across as incessant whining, neediness,
and general discontent.
I attempt to appear focused and in control when I am
alone with Rayihn, but the truth be told I am utterly
terrified. I will advance as far as it seems she will
allow, but I truly look to her for the limit. I wait
on her for the sign. Regardless, I know she loves me
and I her, and that is beyond what I had ever hoped or
dreamed of.
Krantmagna and Iklahn have proven to be more than worthy
adversaries. They are an extended family in a way. To
fight those you love for a greater cause is the most
worthwhile of pursuits - as much as it pains me.
Rayihn continues to ask me of what I seek next...
what I desire from her. I am sincere when I
tell her that she has given more than I had ever dreamed
would be. Her hand in mine, her lips upon mine, and her
body next to mine are all I long for.

The scene comes together to show an elderly wood-elf sitting
on a weathered log next to a wood-elf child. They are both
admiring the clear night sky, gazing upon the thousands of
stars that twinkle overhead. The elder wood-elf wraps
his arm around the boy in a way only a grandfather would.
Completely enamored with the man, the child snuggles in
close and wraps his tiny arms around his grandfather's
forearm.
"Grandfather, tell me a story." The little boy starts to
squirm and begins climbing all over his grandfather as
little boys so often do.
The elder wood-elf looks upon his grandson with a broad
smile, total understanding and love in his gaze. "What
type of story should I tell my most favorite grandson?"
The boy smiles mischievously as he pokes at the man's chest.
"I am your only grandson!"
The man continues to smile. "Only and favorite, how perfect
is that?"
The boy is now sitting on his grandfather's shoulders, one hand
gripping the elder's nose and the other clinging to his silvery
hair.
The boy pauses to think and after some careful consideration
points to the heavens above. "Tell me about the stars!"
"Stars, hmm?" The man shifts his gaze upward. "Lay back into
my arms, I have the perfect story for you!"
The boy climbs down from his grandfather's shoulders and falls
into his arms, laying back and staring at the sky - ready to
listen.
The man pauses for a moment before speaking, slowly stroking
the young boy's hair, a look of concern and great love on his
face. "Some think the stars are guardians in the night,
sentinels to protect from the darkness." He pauses briefly.
"Others think of them as nothing more than burning spheres
of fire, inconsequential, void of any real importance.
The boy looks settled in his grandfather's arms, a large
smile on his face as he listens to the words.
"But my grandson, I know the secret of the stars. What
you see as you survey the night sky is far more than
a collection of burning orbs, you are looking at the Gods
themselves and all their favored followers who have passed
on."
The boy looks up in utter disbelief.

Added Sun Jun 3 22:52:00 2012 at level 51:
"The righteous are raised to the heavens, where they are blessed
to live out eternity in the presence of the divine." The man
takes a brief moment, moving his gaze across the celestial
landscape.
The grandfather pauses to consider what he should say next. "You
remember the barbarians I once spoke of, the destroyers of magic,
the Battleragers?"
The young boy nods at his grandfather, a knowing expression on his
face. "Of course!"
The man nods at the boy in approval. "One of those barbarians was
actually a singer, a deep romantic who pursued the amazingly beautiful
Goddess of Love for her hand in marriage."
The boy shows a disgusted look. "Eww."
The elder smiles down at his grandson and continues. "Some day you
will feel differently. Anyhow, the singer loved the Goddess in a
way that few mortals ever do, he wanted her for his wife."
The man chuckles softly as he glimpses his grandson's perturbed
expression. " You will one day appreciate the love of a woman,
and if so lucky - might just find yourself in the arms of a
Goddess."
The boy settles in once again. "So...did they get married?!"
The elder smiles, and shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know the
answer to that."
The boy snorts and looks unhappy. "What kind of story is this?"
"It is a story about stars and what seemed to be impossible love!"
The elder gives the young boy a warm, reassuring look.
"The barbarian singer, the hopeless romantic, was lost forever
after a brutal battle with the Keepers of Balance." The man
inclines his head slightly.
"And where do stars come in, grandfather?" The boy shifts
impatiently.
"Well, you see, the Goddess made a vow to the barbarian singer
that if he was ever lost, she would find him and hold him in
Her embrace."
Smiling, the grandfather takes his grandson's hand aiming it at
two stars that appear to touch, almost as if they are one. "Now
this is a secret, so let's keep it between us. But that star on
the right, the one with the purple hue, that is Lady Rayihn, the
Goddess of Love. And the one joined to her, in a loving embrace,
is Kelarin Bal'Tae, the barbarian singer."
The boy looks up at his grandfather, clearly not certain of the
story. "I don't believe you, are are just teasing me?"
"One can never be sure, one can only have faith." The man
squeezes the child tightly, in a loving embrace.
As the scene comes to a close, the boy is walking beneath
the stars. He takes a deep breath. "Grandfather, that
smells like lotus blossoms! Isn't it wonderful?"
The grandfather smiles knowingly.
Falling Petals
Added Tue Jul 10 17:58:44 2012 at level 51:
A few nights back I dreamt in a way that I have not been able
to in a very long time. In the vision I emerged from my home,
it was not my hut, but a different place - a place with an
amazing view of a vast sea.
The air was alive with the smell of salt and sea spray. I
could hear the gulls crying in the distance and the sun warmed
my face in an almost loving manner. I felt completely content,
until I realized that I was alone.
A war that I had so desperately fought in the name of a dreamer's
ideal, was long over for me. Foe and kin alike were nowhere to
be seen. It was simply me, staring out at the boundless water,
watching the waves crash. Suddenly, I felt sad...
Visions of the past flooded over me.
First was Lord Fjarn in his purposefully slow, lumbering manner.
His eyes so full of concern and hope as he considered my very soul -
my ability to lead. A feeling of awe and admiration consumed me,
just as it did when we met before I was named Drillmaster.
Next was the fiery fela, Lady Iunna. The scowl upon her face as she
glared upon me told the story quite well. I found myself wondering
what I could have done better. Clearly she saw the intensity of my
love to be a distraction from the war, but in that moment I hoped she
realized that it was my capacity to love that kept me fighting, drove
me onward.
Stocky, bearded and hammer-handed the vision of Lord Thror flashed
before me, but only long enough for me to see the anger on his face
and hear the echoing boom of his voice directed at me, "Werthless". The
Lord of hardships, indeed. If only he understood how much I loved my
brethren, himself included.
In quick sucession many of my mortal allies appeared.
Salyeris, the Commander who took a chance on an unproven singer. Rathmuk,
and the chunks of meat stuck within his beard. Szzilizi, whip in hand,
ready to strangle me at the first opportunity. Martel, the young fresh
scout - full of promise, noble of heart (even if some didn't see it).
Cearnaigh, Algo, Naiat, Yoshika, Vrenash and so many others, all quite
unique and all so wonderful to fight by and live with.
Iklahn and Krantmagna showed next. Krantmagna was covered in oil from head
to toe (still terrifying). Iklahn looked stoic, authoritative and oddly
enough, they took me into their arms at the same time, in one of the oiliest
and warmest hugs I had ever experienced. Tears flowed from my eyes.
Darikir and Inerayo followed, well, I can only assume it was Inerayo - because
it was actually a cheetah trying to knock me to the ground, while Darikir
mercilessly swung his blades at me. Ironically, they both smiled and bowed
just before the vision of them dissipated.
Many other thoughts and visions came to mind, so many battles won and lost.
So much emotion, passion and love...
A final image came to me within the dream. The most beautiful woman I had ever
With that, the dream faded.

A final image came to me within the dream. The most beautiful woman I had ever
known, with her long flowing hair and a purple lotus tucked behind one ear. The
love of my life. She said nothing, but took me in her arms and gently kissed my
lips. I was about to tell her to look out at the sea when it all became quite
clear. I had been staring into her eyes the entire time. My whole life had
been reflected in the amazing depth of her eyes, and at that moment, I realized
that the best and worst of me, all made sense to her.
With that, the dream faded.
