Description

The anorexic arial before you stands spiderly thin and of rather short length. No feathers can be seen on his bald head, not even eyebrows cover his pale skin, giving the arial a rather odd look. His crooked teeth point out of his mouth and his hollow cheeks go up to hollowed eye sockets with dark eyes. A turned-up beak centers the face of this ugly creature. His drooping shoulders seem to lack muscles, and his long thin arms end up in warty but surprisingly delicate hands with dirty fingernails. Spindly legs end up in abnormally large claws considernig the size of the rest of his body. Long thin wings with black feathers extend from his back. A smell of decay and newly dug earth lingers about him. And surrounding him is a small cloud of black flies, buzzing loudly.

Becomming Chancellor

After taking a moment to rethink his tactics due to yet another weapon lost Khratetch
resurfaced on Thera with a new approach in mind. The conventional ways of an antipaladins
soulharvest would not be enough. Resources were also needed to be set into searching for
powerful weapons fitting to be blessed. Reinventing the wheel would not be sufficent.
And as Lord Daevryn had instructed him one needed a plan to get what one needs, then
stick with it till it was completed.

So with that in mind it was a welcome event that Khratetch was elected Chancellor of
the Eternal Night. A gathering of the most elite resources and contacts well beyond the
primal plane. Once Khratetch reaches the pinnacle of his guild expeditions will be launched
to various places around and outside Thera - in order to obtain the most fearsome weapon
known to anyone.

The basics

Khratetch seeks strength. He does it by trying to abolish all weaknesses he can
find within himself and by testing himself in combat. The choice of the anti-paladin
guild was easy for Khratetch considering the rewards it potentially could offer to
one who makes no mistakes.

While he is firmly believing in self-improvement he goes about it without a system
but rather with an open mind, and so his ethos is neutral.

The reason for his seeking of strength Khratetch has never reflected much on, aside
from that it was the sign in the stars when he was born. But to him it ment that
whenever he could he would try to win.

As the pouring rain hammered down on the lonely form of the arial Khratetch where he was
standing on the eastern road thoughts began to spin in his mind. Idly he glanced at the
long titanium spear in his hand, the top of it flaring in angry white as the teardrops
touched it's magical edge.

Water. It reminded him of his youth, when he in the Hamsah Seaport sought work on one of
the ships in order to conquer his fears for the great unnaturally black sea. Such vasteness
and such hunger. It frightened him but the others on the ship did not seem to bother.

And so it came to be that one day as they were sailing he tied a rope to the side of the
ship and around his ankle and dove down into the waiting depths. Dark and cold it made
his body heavy, he tried to move his wings but it didn't help much as he sank deeper.
Terror froze his body, he couldn't move a limb - but his mind was overloaded. He knew if
he wouldn't get air soon he'd die.

But then it was as if time slowed down, he looked up and could see the glittering surface
and he wondered why he felt this fear. Why was this weakness within him? What was the
purpose of it?

What is fear, really? Maybe it's not weakness. Maybe it's just your mind telling you
that something is dangerous. Can fear be a strength even?

And then a sudden pull from the rope around his ankle forced his focus back on his
situation and while setting aside his paralysing fear though his new revelation
he slowly pulled himself to the surface.

The memory faded and Khratetch glanced in both directions of the eastern road. Still alone,
rather strange considering how frequent this place usually is, he thought to himself.

Ah well. Time to face his next fear he thought to himself and lowered his spear towards
himself, the edge of it just an inch from his face, still flaring up whenever water touched
it's enchanted titanium surface. Slowly he opened his beak and extended his tongue to touch
the sharp edge of the titanium spear...
