Description
A storm giant stands before you at a towering height of fourteen feet.
Dark blue hair has been woven into tight dreads that flow in a wave
to the top of his shoulders. Striking light blue eyes steadily watch
their surroundings above a broad nose and wide mouth. Sharp cheekbones
curve down to a strong jawline that gives him a commanding appearance.
His bluish-green skin is covered in many scars from past battles,
giving him a rugged and weathered appearance.
He wears simple leather armor that has been dyed a dark blue that
would be at home in the ever-shifting colors of the sea. Many blades
stick out from a brown leather baldric that hangs from his waist to
his right shoulder. A prominent silver symbol of a jaguar has been
pulled out of his armor to be prominently shown to openly declare his
faith. The scent of the brine wafts from him, a constant reminder of
his connection to the sea.

The words pierced the air clearly, 'Khumahk! Time for lessons!' He
looked to where the distant call came from and sighed. He quickly tucked
the scroll with his sketch and pen back into his pack and left the little
brook that had captured his attention so fully to head home. The calls for
him would just get louder until it disturbed others.
When he reached his home, he quickly rushed in to pick up two practice
swords and began his forms. His father, Varavhal, sighed but began to
make small corrections to his movements and swings as Khumahk fell into
the rhythm of training.
Khumahk took deep breaths hours later as he recovered. After taking a long
pull from the well, he looked at his father and steeled himself. He said
quickly, 'Father, just once can't we work the forms in the sea? or even the
forest?' He just felt so closed in while training in their small yard. His
father looked him over and sighed before shaking his head. He spoke simply
with no anger, 'We've discussed this enough, we will not inconvenience
others in the forest nor will we train where we worship. You will train
like this in the Fortress, so you must get used to it.' Khumahk sighed
again before nodding, finding no point to bring up more of the same
arguments.
Khumahk quietly went inside to begin his work with letters and numbers
with his mother, Kora. He went to bed tired of the rote routine of his
life. He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow, his body and
mind tired from the lessons of the day.
Nightmare
Added Sun Oct 1 11:28:18 2023 at level 5:
Khumahk found himself in the sea where they worshipped the Gods of the
Light. His father was devout of Baerinika and his mother of Azorinne. The
sea was different than normal as a terrible storm surrounded him. Twenty
foot waves crashed over him, but he was at home in the sea and was in no
danger. An inky darkness began to spread from underneath the waves, a
thick substance that began to taint and kill the fish that it touched.
He was for the first time in his life afraid in the sea, and began to
swim away with urgency. The beach that led back to home was visible but
it looked dark and treacherous. He tried to swim that way, but despite
trying with all his might he was not getting closer to the trail while
the darkness had nearly reached him! He saw a bright glow above a distant
dock and began to swim to it with all of his might. He stepped foot out
of the sea before sitting up in bed wide-awake.
He shuddered as he took deep breaths. He could not shake the feeling
that there was darkness in the sea so he gathered a lantern and took the
familiar path down to the water. The lantern provided light upon a calm
sea at peace. He went out into it and found a spot that was just a bit
warmer to begin his prayers. He had never decided before, but felt the
call of the Lady Baerinika. He prayed for the purity of the Light, the
Sea, and the Lands. He eventually doused the lantern as the sun gave him
light and he felt at peace with himself for the first time in a long time.
Setting Out
Added Sun Oct 1 11:30:18 2023 at level 5:
After his prayers, he looked up to the path back home and felt no call
to follow it. He must one last time so he could write a note for his
parents to find. He did not want to write many words, for it all had been
said before. Still, they needed to know. He wrote, 'I have found my
calling mother and father. I am not either of you, for it is not in the
Fortress. I have taken the medallion of the jaguar with me for it calls
to me. I shall bring purity to the darkness as you have, but also to the
seas and lands.'
Khumahk set out quietly from his home, speaking to wanderers and travelers
to find the ranger's guild. He spoke to the guildmaster just west of
Galadon. He spoke of his love for the seas and lands, but found he had
no tolerance for the way they fought. He did not wish to sit still for
hours and wait for the perfect time to strike, he wished to go out and
fight. The guildmaster had some patience with him, and told him that
there were those who loved nature while still training elsewhere. He was
guided to the warrior's guild where he found a home, and reluctantly told
of the Outlanders of Thar-Eris.
Self-Reflections
Added Sun Oct 1 11:34:49 2023 at level 5:
He discovered that his new found freedom to do what he wished, when he
wished it had been the final element of finding himself. This freedom
brought with it time to meditate in the wilds and discover more of
who he was.
It took time to find that he did not hold his leaving against his family.
He began to view them as flawed in the strictness in which they pursued
the Light. He would not let himself be bound by their traditions, no
matter how well it had served his family in the past. It was with this
last revelation that he realized he would not be returning to them any
time soon. They would simply try to change who he was, when he was
finally who he wanted to be.
As for these Outlanders of Thar-Eris, he would seek them out and aid in
their fight for the wilds. He would just do it in such a way to make
Lady Baerinika proud.
The Path
Added Thu Nov 2 10:34:05 2023 at level 51:
Khumahk made his first pledge within the shrine of Baerinika, as one who
would one day hope to be an Initiate of the Jaguar. He felt no response
then, but knew it would take time for him to find her eye and wisdom.
Only after that first pledge was made, Khumahk made his way to the Tree
and pledged to the Huntress and Thar-Eris. He was greated by the Harbinger
in open arms as it seemed few of the Light sought the Tree. She was eager
for him to join those few. She spoke of the thunder and lightning above as
a sign, one welcoming him. He was soon a warden and found the first of
uncomfortable situations as Khumahk found many of the vile reavers in the
Tree.
After meeting with Lady Baerinika and asking her to guide him, he was soon
found with the mantle of leadership as Sunwarden. It was a mantle he sought
and accepted gladly, for it was good to have a strong presence of the Light
within the Tree. It was then that he could see all of the members of each
branch clearly and saw the weight that threatened to drag the Tree into
true darkness. He had a difficult task before him, to bring the Light to
the Tree.
Guardsman
Added Thu Nov 2 10:34:51 2023 at level 51:
Khumahk joined together with Merigaeld to aid Burgolt in the gain of a rod
they sought in the Siege Encampment. He had frequently joined with her, and
accomplished much for the Light and the Tree. He did not give enough thought
to the fact that Merigaeld bore a warrant this day as he led her to join
Burgolt. They passed by a set of elite guardsmen in the Feanwyyn, and Khumahk
was quick to leave. Still, he looked back to see her fighting the masses and
felt torn. He returned to try to look at the guardsman more closer, to feel
what Light was within but at that moment Merigaeld struck them dead. Khumahk
felt the pain in his soul, immediately fleeing and breaking his joining to
Merigaeld to kneel down to pray for atonement.
He knew this was not enough, so he stopped what he was doing and came to the
misty ruins to speak with Hyllilde and ask for her guidance. He felt so lost,
fearing that this day may come. At first he didn't notice that he was hungry,
but then later just didn't care. He felt the terrible pain build, wear at his
body and mind. Soon the thirst joined and it was days of agony as he wished
to feel at least some of the pain that guardsman did. He drew near death, and
finally had to make a decision. He would not let the guardsman death take his
life as well, it would do nothing good for the Light. He would live, but would
be wary of traveling with those with with a warrant. Khumahk had been leaning
to avoiding warrants as well, and upon the soul of the guardsman he pledged
to do so or pay the consequences to rid himself of one.
He spoke his words aloud to Hyllilde, 'I pledge, upon that soul, to avoid a
warrant or to pay the consequences to rid myself of it. I will no longer walk
easily with one with a warrant, instead will join only as necessary'. He ate
and collapsed from exhaustion.
