Description

Before you stands a curoius half elf. He is a rougish fella with an eyepatch over one eye and a malitious sparkle permenatly engraved in the other. His hair is dusty brown and ragged, as if he tried to cut it himself without looking in a mirror. He's a smidgeon taller than most of the humans that come to mind, yet still doesn't reach the height of a pure elf.He has the casual slouching gait of someone who thinks very highly of themselves, almost a strut. You also notice that...

Role

backgrounds

Added Sun Jul 30 13:30:46 2006 at level 37:
Kiph the half-elf started out as all of his bastard race tend to, with one
elf and one human. In his case the elf was the father, surrenduring to
passion with Kiph's human mother upon discovering his own wife was disloyal.
The evidence is in the result.

Raised by a human mother in a small house, Kiph learned the basics of right
and wrong, especially when it came to infidelity. Sadly, his mother passed
on quite earlier in Kiph's extended life, and with nothing at the house to
keep, no father to run to, and no friends in the nearby elven town of which
to speak he decided to leave home. There wasn't much thought into it, and
before he got the the first town his stomach was rumbling. Thankfully the
sounds of life eminated from one central location in this place, the inn.
Stumbling inside, he was momentarily distracted by a hat half filled with
silver and copper. Slowly he began to notice the owner of this hat, an human
making music from his flute. Not forgetting his grumbling stomach, he
regretfully faded to the back of the room, observing the flute and its
wielder as he grabbed a few rolls from the patrons with some slight of hand.

On the conclusion of the man's performance, he took a few wavered bows and
excused himself from the inn, taking his hat under his arm, and was followed
by several of the towns people migrating to their own homes. Kiph meant to
follow the man, in the hopes that maybe he could be tought something of the
music, as he figured it might be a practical means of eating, and perhaps
learn some good stories too. Kiph had loved the man's dramatic epic.
However, upon turning in the ally, he only discovered the man sprawled on
the floor, his coins spilled everywhere as two shadowy figures tried to grab
what they could. Horrified, Kiph let out a small scream that thankfully
startled the footpads and made them vanish again into the shadows.
Approaching the corpse, he could see that it was still breathing, thought
bleeding from several stab wounds. The man's eyes flashed open and he thrust
the flute at Kiph, making him jump back a bit. 'The music must go on!' was
all he said before the alley became silent, filled with the stench of alcohol
and death. Unaware of what to do for the time, Kiph grabbed the flute and
closed the mans eyes, uttering a silent prayer before vanishing himself and
moving straight out of town.

And so Kiph picked up the instrument, and upon some vigorous study, the
mastery of the epic. And continued on his merry way, until he wandered into
Voralian City, the city of light, and so his journey truely began.

Personalities

Added Sun Jul 30 13:33:12 2006 at level 37:
Kiph's life wasn't entirely eventful, in fact, it was fairly normal
considering the odd times he lived in. His family wasn't brutaly murdered in
front of him, and the worst he ever saw was a drunk man he perceived innocent
get mugged in a dark ally. Because of this, Kiph's outlook on life is
decidedly positive, thought not without the bitter sarcasm of someone who has
been kicked to the curb by an undeserving, ungreatful crowd quite a few
times. He tries to keep his spirits up with good drink and good humor,
rather than wallowing in self pity.

Kiph is a large fan of the epics, and although he can't remember too much of
them beyond the perfermornace in which he told them, he understands the
general concept nicely. Selfless dedication, near foolish bravery, and
little fear of what lies ahead are what motivates him in his path to hold the
tides of darkness. Often times he has found himself eager to prove, only to
fail. This is when Kiph falls back on that dedication to get back on his
feet and continue down the path, for while he might not be the hero of his
own epic, he wishes to be remembered in the hearts of his friends and the
nightmares of his enemies.
