Description

Beardless, battle-worn, and broad-shouldered, this jovial, beer keg of a dwarf stands before you. He has a certain light-hearted air in his facical expressions which contrasts deeply with his sharp unyielding features. His huge, wide, hooked nose is crooked, looking as if it has been broken countless times. His prominent brow ridge is further accentuated by thick, auburn eyebrows. His large deep light eyes are soft and gentle having the strange twinkle of familiarity behind them as if looking at an old friend. His hair has been tied loosely at the base of his neck and falls down his lower back, deep auburn with grey and white streaks strewn through-out.His complexion is rough and weather-worn . Deep jagged scars are visible on his body that look pink and white on his otherwise bronzed skin. He leans slightly down and to the right as he walks about almost as if wounded and a small patch of blood is visible at his right side through the bandages wrapping his mid-section. A simple, faded tattoo is on his right forearm simply saying Allison in strangely child-like writing.

Role

Whimpering in the Darkness

Added Wed Oct 12 07:30:26 2016 at level 25:
The cave rumbled and shook all around him as he made his way deeper and deeper. He could not see very
far in front of him maybe five, six feet in front of him; too much dust from the cave-in. His senses
strained for anything beyond the sting in his eyes or the dust from the ancient earth
that had been disturbed that was relentlessly clogging his nose and filling mouth. He could barely breath.
He strained most to focus his hearing to hear young voice that cried out for help. It
was not until the next tremor that his resolve started to shake giving way to the sickly, slow creep of
fear. He kept going, and with each step into the darkness the Fear crept
further into his heart, flowing slowly like thick tar as the Fear often does.
*Why am I here?*
Whimpering in the darkness had drawn him into the great
cave, whimpering that had drifted out of the huge yawn
of the world, the whimpering of a child.
*Keep going. Must save the child.*
The darkness opened in a small cavern. He could finally see in front of him role + with much more ease and though his dwarven eyes were used to piercing the
darkness under the earth he did not need them. Shadows bounced of the smooth
ceiling of the cavern from the clear stream to his left. He saw in front on
him a boulder twice his size that jutted upward almost to the ceiling on the
cave, and walking around it he saw the reason he was there. The small girl
stood on the opposite of the center rock in front of the stream. She stood
slightly leaning over as if looking at her reflection and he could see her
small shoulders moving up and down quickly with small, quick, erratic
jitters. She was crying and he could see that she was still in her
nightgown, which was soiled and coved in dirt. Her long blonde hair was
tangled and unkempt. She looked as if she had been too long without bathing.
looked almost wild, feral. She turned to him.
*Something's wrong!*
Fear was creeping further and further. He could not stay here too much
longer. It was all he could do to calm himself enough to not shake. He held
out his hand, kneeled and said as softly as he could muster, "Com'mon lass.
Ah'm here tah'git'yeh out'tah'ere. Take mah'han.." He was cut off from his
last word as the cavern groaned and shoke loose more dirt and rocks. The
Fear flowed over his resolve with the quake and he rose and started to back
the way he had come. He was to afraid to stay, but in his last effort for
courage he stopped in his tracks. He looked at the girl again. She raised
her hand and took a step to him. Another quake and rumble from the earth
came but this time more violent than any before. He could see movement from
his right periphery and only just was able to throw himself backward out of
way of the falling center rock. He saw the child no more but heard her.
She was crying. "Don't leave me!", she cried. He backed away. Another

stress and the dust. His soul cried with each shriek of the little girl that
he had left behind. Another cry and then another shreik, the earth shook and
groaned. No more crying. No more shreiking. He could see the light of day in
front of him. Running out of the maw the cave fell in just as he jumped and
fell into the light but before he could stand he heard another cry. It was a
cry now from a woman, and it was a cry of anger. Pain shot through his head
and he was out.

The Witch in the Woods

*Birds Chirping*
*Sunlight through the autumn colored leaves*
*Dirt on his
back*
*Pressure on his wrists*

He came to with his hands behind his back. His head throbbed. His vision was
blurry.Dusk.
"Does it hurt?"
"I hope it does."
He struggled to clear his
vision. He looked around himself. He saw a large bonfire about three yards
in front on him. He saw a small pine lean-to to his right with bones and
feathers adorning it. To his left, a small pile of freshly bloodied corpses
of small animals.
He then realized that he had been bound to a large wooden
totem in a standing position leaning forward just enough to not need his
legs.
He did not see the origin of the voice.
"Kleiran the Stoneheart"
"Kleiran the Dauntless"
"Kleiran the Pride of the Grimjaw Clan"

"What dea'yeh want wi'meh?!"

"You left her there. You left her screaming. You left her to save yourself.
left her to die...to save yourself. You left my Allison to.." He heard
the voice crack then sigh lazily,
"Kleiran the Arrogant"
"Kleiran the Weak"
"Kleiran the Coward"

His vision started to clear and as it focused he saw before him a shadow
silhouetted by the bonfire. It seemed to almost materialize from black
tendrils of shadow. It started toward him.

"What do yah wa-.."

"What do I want? Not death, but pain. Not glory but shame."
He could see
the shadow materialize into the figure of a beautiful, nude human woman. She

was stepping forward toward him and he saw in her left hand she held a crude
dagger fashioned from bone covered in blood. She stopped in front on him a
put the dagger's point to his side.
"Shame", she said as he felt the pressure
from the dagger digging into his armor.
"Pain", she whispered leaning
forward.
He winced and gritted his teeth under the enormous feeling of pain.
She was so close and their eyes locked. Her lips did not move, but he heard
her voice in his mind. She pushed the dagger into him up to the hilt. Her
eyes burned with rage. "Her blood will always be with you. You will always
remember. I mark you Kleiran with the blood of my daughter. I brand you now
and forever Kleiran the Cursed."

"Coward", she whispered in his ear. It was the last thing he heard before he
passed out from the pain.

The Archon on the Mountain

Added Sun Oct 16 20:52:10 2016 at level 26:
After the witch had done her vile work, Kleiran wandered the wilderness for a
time. He wandered, wept, and wallowed in the pity of himself and that of the
young girl Allison, that he had left to die from his own cowardice. Allison
his Shame. And of this part of his life, Kleiran knew nothing else.

*Some time later*
The halfling elf named Illias, had called to him. He had
left the scarp of parchment at the Great Fortress of Light and had invited
him to pray. They met and prayed at the Archon on the Mountain, though the
half-elf's speech was long-winded and a bit dramatic for the taste of the
young dwarf, he was happy for the companionship, being so long in the world
on his own. He had imposed upon himself an exile from his clan and of his
very dwarfishness. He cut his beard off and did not drink ale.He made no
merry at the memory of his Fathers. He did not dare say their names for fear
that they would see him as he was. He was shamed and his wound did not let
him forget. He left the Archon and the half-elf Illias on the mountain
hopeful of his redemption. He left feeling that he had purpose finally.

The Shield

Added Sat Oct 22 22:03:45 2016 at level 34:
There were two on the them that had made it back to the keep in the
Aratouldain. Their captain was not amused at their sudden entrance. They
were supposed to be back with something more than wounds and broken bones,
and there was supposed to five more of them along with their leader. The
Captain had only been interrogating them for a few minutes but her
apprehensive tone had changed to anger the more information she received from
her young defeated soliders.

"It wasn't our fault!" said one.
"He came out of nowhere and how where we to
know a scribe from the Fortress would be in the woods at same time as a
raid?!" said the other.
The Captain walked briskly to the second man and
slapped him hard across his face sending him reeling. She spoke calmly, "Tell
me again before I decide whether or not to hang you from the battlements."

The two men exchanged glances. The first man started.

"Everything was going as planned. Those farmers hadn't expected a thing,
hell they didn't have but a sword and few daggers between them.We had
almost finished them off when we heard this crash out of the bushes. This
little stout gnome burst from the underbrush and shouted, "For Harrison!".
"He didn't say that, you deaf fool. He said, "For Allison" though his accent
was ridiculously thick I'll give you that. And he wasn't a gnome, he was a
dwarf."
"He didn't have a beard! What kind of a dwarf doesn't have a
beard?!", the other asked.
The Captain drew her sword and placed it across
her knee as she sat, her expression becoming more livid.

The Shield pt 2

Added Sat Oct 22 22:05:57 2016 at level 34:
The first blinked
and continued, "He ran through our ranks ramming into us with his shield and
he have been casting because the farmers that were left started fighting
harder as if they were fresh. It was as if their wounds healed before our
eyes and white auras formed around their bodies. They seemed to have armor
that we couldn't see."
"In the name the gods, you fool. Have you never heard
of a healer or did they not have those in that backwater piss-hole you
climbed out of?" said the other angrily.
The Captain was not amused. She
stared at the first. He continued.
"By the end it was just us and the
sergeant. They lined us up kneeling and that cursed gno...dwarf walked in
front of us a bit like he..didn't know what else to do.He stopped in front
of the sergeant finally and said, 'Ah'll no hav'yah bands ah'tieves and
rapers coming 'round these woods pillagin' and terrorizin' these inna'cents.
Yah kinnah beh trusted wi'tha'lives ah'tha'inna'cent. Ah kin see'yer tainted
soul, Lad.'"
"Which was weird because the sergeant was almost seventy years
old", said the other. The Captain and the first glared at him. He closed his
mouth.
The first continued, "The sergeant didn't like what he was hearing,
and you know as well as I do how he was when he got hot. He looked at the
dwarf and said, 'Innocents, tainted souls, who in all hell do you think you
are!' And then he spat right in the dwarfs face. The dwarf just wiped his
face and said, 'Ah'm Kleiran Grimjaw, scribe o'tha Fortress ah'light. YOU
are'tha evil, their tha'inna'cent, and Ah'm tha Shield put between ya by
tha'Lord o'Archons. Yah slimy Basterd!' And then he took his mace and beat
the sergeants head in right then and there. When he was done he looked at us
and said, 'Ya'll reh'member wat'tah'said. May tha Archon shine es'light on
yah so yah kin see the error in'yer path. Git yeh gone, yeh worms!"

The Captain looked at the first with a glint of confusion in her eyes saying,
"That's quite an accent." The men nodded.

She spoke, "So you are telling me that a beardless, incomprehensible, dwarven
healer with a handful of farmers got the better an entire raiding party?
Yes?" The men nodded slower.

She looked over to the guards and commanded the two men to be taken to the
dungeon. She would deal with them later. She was livid and apprehensive to
say the least. She stared forward alone for a while reflecting on the story
she had just heard.

A Day for Re-forging.

Added Wed Oct 26 06:42:02 2016 at level 41:
*Clank!* *Clank!*
Kleiran assessed the warhammer he was reforging carefully
looking it over before putting it back in the fires of the forge in the
Fortress of Light. It was a quiet day for him there. The darkness was taking
a bit of rest is seemed and Kleiran was all too happy to work at the Forge.
Stoking the flames once again Kleiran reflected on his time at the Fortress.
The friends or brothers rather that he had been given. The joy that he had
experienced at their camaraderie and sorrow of his failure to protect them at
times. He took he hammer out of the fire red-hot and placing on the anvil
wiped his brow of sweat before shaping it anew.As he worked he his thoughts
drifted to the Archon in the Mountains and the Lord that he had pledged his
soul to.

"My blood for theirs. Keep my vision clear so that I may endure the burden of
my Purpose."
It was sacrifice. While he was alive he would take the blows
for the darkness so that the innocent would not. But it was not just the
blows to his body but to his soul. Seeing the things that he saw day to day
takes a toll on a man. People can be fragile and experiencing such thing
could change a man, for the worse sometimes. He would take it for them. He
could endure when they could not, but even his soul could be broken. He
never forgot that. The witch in the woods had made sure of that. Allison,
his shame, never let him forget. The Lord of Archons, Corrlaan, would renew
his soul as long as he kept the Faith. And like the hammer he reforgedwith
fire and hammer, his soul would be reforged anew, stronger still from the
experience. Toughness tempered with wisdom.

His work done for now he looked on the fruits of his labor, the hammer was
stronger, more powerful. He smiled putting the weapon on his belt. Kleiran
walked outside the walls past the Tara bal going down the mountain trail past
the Redhorn gate. He needed to see the Archon in the Mountains again. Today
would be for reforging...while the darkness slept.

Wind on the Mountain

Added Wed Oct 26 09:43:11 2016 at level 41:
Through the pass in the Gol Galath, Kleiran walked heading west. The morning
had been strange for him. He had started with his smithing, had been so sure
of his purpose, but the longer he had walked to pray for Corrlaan's blessing
the more he grew nervous. He thought of Archons face, always silent, always
stoic. No matter what he said to the being all he got in return was
silence...the wind of the mountain. "He's testing mah faith.", Kleiran had
mumbled to himself as he started up the pass. His thoughts drifted to
something more ominous.(What if he's not testing my faith. What if I
haven't been praying to a Lord this whole time...but praying before a
ghost) Kleiran shivered at the thought and he mood drifted from apprehension
to fear. Through to passage to the south he picked up his pace, and as he
finally arrived a the precipice he looked long and hard at the Archon on the
Mountain.

"Through the fire, my soul will be reforged", he thought to himself. He felt
his side and winced as the pain from his wound flared. He then looked back
at the Archon. The Archon floated there before him, silent, cold, and
indifferent. What had become of the Lord of Archons? Did he simply lack the
faith or was it something else?He could know, but he would find out.
Answers to questions so profound could not be answered lightly. He turned
and crawled out to the pass, glancing behind him one last time to look on the
Archon same as before, same as it had always been, silent and cold like the
mountain.

Ghosts of the Maran

Added Sun Nov 20 20:06:29 2016 at level 51:
They haunted him the ghosts of the Maran that he had failed in battle. He
was silent on it to his brothers and sisters. He didn't want to seem negative
at all. Wouldn't do for an acolyte, but he saw them in his dreams, and when
he closed his eyes. Their ghosts consumed in black flame. They screamed like
pigs being slaughtered, and the triumphant shades of his enemies taunted him
with his failure to keep them safe. He would have no more it. Allison's
face had faded, but his wound reminded him always of his failure and pressed
in him the Fear always seemed to find his soul.

He could spare no more time for himself, however. No time to wallow in his
own self-pity. No more time to be consumed by his failure. He would act.
He would rally and inspire. The Gods had given him power. The Lord of
Archons was his shield and sword.

New purpose from the fires of failure. He vision was clear. He would bare
the burden of his purpose. He would stand before the darkness and drive the
Fear from his soul and that of his flock.

Kleiran the Cardinal

Added Mon Dec 19 14:58:14 2016 at level 51:
He knelt before the Archon in the mountains as he had done so many times
before.'Corrlaan keep meh...', he whispered by the rest of the prayers did
not come out. He looked up at the silent figure, and sighed deeply before
sitting, facing the overhang and vast expanse of the mountain range. He was
exhausted. So many things that had happened to him...so many questions and
burdens of leadership. He was, after all, the Cardinal now.

He would have to speak to Ignolmeer again about his limited findings
reguarding the Cult of the Scarab. His research and observation had yielded
only more questions and he found himself in need of guidance. He would take
on their flawed dogma but he must understand them better. He also needed to
speak with His Divinity to understand the attack on the Fortress by the
terrible dragon that had eaten his squire Jotrik. Why had the dragon
attacked them and why had the vile fiend gone after the squire and not him?
He would need to prepare a defense against such an attack. He would also need
to understand this new organization that called itself Entropy.Would he
need to look out for them as well? Could an alliance be made? If there was
to be war...how do you fight a horde of mages? And what allies could he
possibly rely on in such a war? Again, he did not have the knowledge he
needed. "Not much of Cardinal so far", he thought to himself.

He smirked at his own weakness and spit over the cliff's edge. To hell with
your failure and insecurity, he thought to himself. People rely on you now.
"Aint got time to feel sorry fur mah'self", he said as he looked over to the
Archon. He did not feel exhausted anymore. He had the things to do. He
knelt before the Archon to finish his with renewed vigor.
