Description

Not incredibly tall, nor short, with facial features which are indiscreet is the man you see before you. Only his deep blue eyes hold your attention. His body appears blessed with large bulging muscles that almost seem to push themselves through metallic sleeves, scarcely shining with the light. Enveloping his bulky mass is a stanch plate covering his midsection from neck to belt. Branded into the upper right corner of the plate are the shapes of a rose, an open palm, and a hammer upon an anvil. Straps running under the plate, cross over and are used to secure an undersized knapsack which releases small handles from the underside with the greater section of the weapon buried deep within. Eclipsing metal leg plates imbue his legs with readiness and a resilient covering which act as a fortress from just below his waist to his pale orange rawhide boots that are adorned with small mithril tips. With a glimpse of some final detail you notice...

Role

Faith in the Path Ahead.

Added Mon Oct 29 13:51:20 2007 at level 49:
. What does it mean to have faith? How does one be faithful? What
is something worth having faith in? Many people spend an eternity
thinking of just simple questions, such as these, and so few ever come to
know even a portion of their answers. Some also say that the life of a
paladin is lost without faith, both in those around them and in their cause.
This could not be closer to the truth. A holy knight who has embraced
faith and begins to know what it means to truly be faithful can accomplish
a great deal of things. Klyndenstrom, living his life as a champion for
light, has learned these tenants well because deep inside he knows it to
be true. His proof lies in many places throughout his life from his trials to
and within the fortress, to his blessings from the divine, and even in his
meditation and very thoughts.
. The mighty sing of blade when against blade or the buzz of ones
arm when the shield it holds is struck are sensations known by many.
The feeling of protecting those who can not defend themselves, growing
within Klyndenstrom, however is not. Every battle with the savage
outlanders, the putrid scions, foul imperials or any who attempt to bring
pain to the light, he believes will eventually fall before it. He has
witnessed that death has came to all of his enemies at one time or
another and this tempers his faith. Much as the swaying of a tree his
allies rise and fall but his belief within them doesn't stop growing.
. Many times the hardest part of faith is believing in something
without knowing everything about it. Religion is strongly based on faith,
sometimes known as blind faith. Now Klyndenstrom has spoken to lord
Marcatis on many occasions in an attempt to broaden his views. A great
deal of the time when they would speak, he would learn vast amounts.
On most occasions Marcatis would pose a question for him to ponder as
he traveled and it would be something that when answered would bring
him more insight to both himself and his lord. Once he returned to
discuss his findings he would again be posed new questions but this also
helped to instill a greater faith in his lord. The divine often lead those who
seek them but not take them to their destination and that is what
Klyndenstrom feels when he speaks with his lord.
. With meditation and deep thought a person may be able to quiet
their mind, and clear their view to open to ideas they hadn't thought of
before. During meditation Klyndenstrom thinks back on his encounters
and interaction. Everything from his audience with Marcatis, to his battles
against the darkness, or even the youngest applicant to the fortress all go
through his mind. When he thinks back on battles he is able to see tactics
he should try for the future, when he thinks of his lord he is able to better
see the future of his life, and all those whom he interacts with stories'
serve to fuel his faith in them or in the future. The path ahead for
Klyndenstrom is clearing somewhat and he believes strongly that it will
be bright.

A new Spark, a new Qyxen Legacy

Added Fri Oct 19 09:57:21 2007 at level 36:
. Coming to know the tales of others among the realm has had a
large impact on the way Klyndenstrom embraces with his feelings. This
has caused him to remember many things he experienced during his own
trials to earn the right to his family legacy. One quiet evening while
meditating at the temple he begins to recall those challenging events.
. During the first months of winter on the plains, he was chopping
wood for the fire when his father interrupted and said "Its time to earn your
Qyxen name." His father explained that to the north near the dreaded
farm was a family in dire need of help and that they would die without
some form of healing. Klyndor continued to tell him that while traveling
the frigid mountains a father and daughter had been trapped due to the
waring giants and patrollers. They were wounded during the battles and
were being cared for by a midwife. It was to be his job to traverse the
dangerous trails and provide aid to those innocents wounded by the
ongoing war, this would be the turning point in the Qyxen legacy.
. When Klyndenstrom arrived, it was already too late to be of any help
and he found not only the father and daughter slain but the midwife as
well. One of Loke's patrollers had learned a paladin was coming to their
aid and had made an early strike, laying a trap for the unsuspecting.
Once inside the small cottage he found himself surrounded. A great deal
of the patrollers had lay in wait, hidden from view, until he went inside
then seized the chance once the door had shut, blockading him in. The
patrollers set the meager home ablaze and waited for him to exit one of
the few windows. He sheltered himself under a stone slab once used as
a table and waited. The patrollers cackled into the night as the dwelling
burned to ashes. As the last few remaining patrollers scoured the ashes
for the burnt remains, he struck. Wielding only the small club and holding
a chair for a shield he charged. It wasn't long before he too fell... but he
had to hold out as long as he could... Humbled as his weapon and shield
crumbled before the forceful blows delivered by the patrollers he was
prepared to face his death. It was then that a miracle came. Just as a
spear pierced his chest a bright light gave him the strength to live on. It
was his father.
. Quick wit and a swift sword strike down upon the brittle and purify
the weak. Klyndor had dispatched those on the outside of the cottage
and was worried for his son's safety. He managed to be just quick
enough to save his son from certain death and with the little remaining
strength he granted to his son he lurched, the last remaining patroller
falling by an ashen table leg through his abdomen, at the hands of young
Klyndenstom. With all of his energy drained he immediately passed out
from his own pain, the battle was over.
. When he awoke several days later, he lay in bed and talked to his
father about what he had experienced. This was the moment that he first
realized it wasn't enough just to heal and care for the wounded but to
strike down those who would do such evil things. They needed to face
judgement for the crimes they committed, the atrocities that are recorded
with

The Difference of Spirit.

Added Mon Oct 15 17:25:57 2007 at level 28:
. While traveling, people interact with one another in many different
ways. Two angry people may start a fight, two sad people may begin to
weep and a strong and sad person may be just what each of them needs
to fill their own void. Every chance encounter can be used to bring
people together or drive them apart, all depending on what they seek to
do with their lives. During Klyndenstrom's travels he has come across
several interesting sparks of life and he has come to know them and
develop his feelings better because of it.
. The throws of battle is often a place where allies are found, and
bonds are forged. One faithful day while within the heat of a fierce battle,
Klyndenstrom finds at his side a duergar coming to his defense. He had
just finished battles with a vile orc and his mercenary and then became
prey to the powerful spells of a transmuter of the darkest night. He at
once assumed he was an enemy and proceeded to make his assault but
it was for naught. This duergar was different. He was doing the best he
could with the form the lords had blessed him with and sought not the
path of the vile and corrupt. This young thief has became an ally to light
and seeks the destruction of the drow more than any that Klyndenstrom
has come to know. He has faith in this thief and holds a belief that he will
find the redemption he seeks.
. On many occasions a preacher must seek those to listen to his
sermon fore not always will they come to him. Klyndenstrom knows this
and from time to time stops by the Inn of Eternal Star to preach to those
who will listen. It would not be long before he found one that not only
needed to hear what he had to say but one who he desperately needed
to hear himself. A young man in his eyes was the assassin he saw before
him. His features were not typical for most humans though he did not pay
that too much mind. As he came to know this young man and hear his
story. He learned a deep pain that lay within him. This fellow was a
bastard child of drow blood and not only has his family legacy been lost
but also his family fell before his eyes. His sister and her husband, both
fell to greedy thieves in the night and his mother soon after to a broken
heart. It was near all Klyndenstrom could do to console this lad and
assure him that it was not his fault for their fall. This assassin has come a
long ways from the maddening thought of his family's fall but he needs
come much further and believe in himself as Klyndenstom believes he is
capable of.
. By listening and preaching to these two interesting souls, among
others, Klyndenstrom has learned to trust himself more as a judge of both
enemies and allies. His quest is also advancing as he draws closer to
the day which he will be able to draw upon the holy aura and seek his
own place within the fortress.

Feelings of Confidence

Added Thu Oct 11 11:48:32 2007 at level 22:
The clang of the sword and shield, the heat of heavenly fire and simple
miracles of divine healing have become everyday occurrences since
Klyndenstrom began his journey. Making some progress in his search of
the fortress he has spoken to both his lord Marcatis and the Captain of the
Brigade. His interaction with lord Marcatis has left the most lasting impact
on the way he acts and carries himself. During one of his fasts he was
able to have a conversation with his lord and was somewhat nervous with
his reactions. His mind knew what it wished to say but the words didn't
seem to want to come out as desired. They spoke of why he would
subject his body to a fast, to starve the spirit and was unable to come up
with a good explanation, his words just kept coming out wrong. The brief
audience came to a close as the question was posed of why he had to
meditate about those which he fought and instead was urged to trust his
feelings. It was so completely true, he did know right from wrong, but he
simply did not have confidence in himself. As lord Marcatis had stated
when he was offered food, "I have freed myself of such needs" so too
would Klyndenstrom free himself of his doubt and learn to become more
confident in his own feelings and trust his actions.

The Fasting Sight

Added Mon Oct 8 14:15:59 2007 at level 15:
. Klyndenstrom visits the shrine of his lord on many occasions to give
praise to his lord. One day like any other as he awoke, he felt a little
strange, although he did not pay such any mind. Maybe he was catching
a cold, he did not know. Traveling about the city many times he though
something was amiss but it just wasn't something he could put his finger
on. While passing some time in study inside his guild he spoke to
another paladin about a story of the wilds to the west.
. He sat out to the woods in search of a vile evil who he had heard,
burnt down a magnificent forest. Stepping outside the gates of the city, he
traveled the crumbling road toward the crossroads and beyond to a great
field of ashes and embers. It was here when he came face to face with
such vile, evil beings and creatures. They were doing everything within
their power to keep the fire alive. The home of the forest guardians was
nearly destroyed. He entered the fray, charging into the remaining
burners with all that he had. Bashing, and slicing, in the heat of battle. As
the battle raged a haze seemed to engulf him and his enemies as they
fought.
. The battle was first a thin forest burner, then a ragged blood beast,
then on to trolls, and dark paladins... the battle raged for what seemed an
eternity. Fog rolled past his eyes the world around him changed. He
stood before a giant fortress and watched as attackers lay siege. Again
he was into the fray of battle and from one crashing blow to the next, his
heart leapt, his muscles squeezing with every ounce of strength to block
with the shield, strike with the sword, as if it was his mantra. Each battle
the shifting just the same. He called upon the heavens for strength before
and during the battles then again afterward he gave praise. Looking
around he could see the fortress was a battlefield, but he knew it wasn't
always this way. As he glanced at all around him, he noticed his shield.
Its' shine was incredible and beckoning. He glanced into it and for a brief
moment glimpsed his face, shrouded in light. A light that grew brighter, a
light that was blinding. He collapsed.
. Upon landed on the ground with a crash, he awoke. His stomach
grumbled with hunger. His eyes slowly came into focus. He has been
before the Temple of Marcatis the entire time. His fast had given him a
glimpse at what may be.

In search of the Heavenly Spark.

The city of Galadon which Klyndenstom now calls home is a bustling
place, full of many types of people. It wasn't long before he found his
bearings around town and he began to learn the teachings of the local
guild. During this time within the academy and while he meditated within
the guild he learned more of the lords, what each stands for, and the
lands around him. The battles early on are somewhat challenging and
each helps to give him a stronger understanding of how the world works.
Each new experience is helping to shape and mold the way he thinks.
He feels a great sorrow for others who he sees are in pain and he does
what he can to aid them although he realizes that the best way to stop the
anguish and darkness before him is to stop it before it takes hold.
Coming to know this through these experiences, his meditations on them
and his own burning desires for perfection, he has chosen to follow lord
Marcatis and he believes that is where his spirit will find it's path.
Through inquiry and determination he has learned of the location of his
chosen lords place of prayer and began to visit in hopes of new strength
to combat the darkness and wickedness he faces and will come to know
in the future.

The spark which Ignites a Flame.

Added Sat Oct 6 14:36:20 2007 at level 1:
Klyndenstrom was born to a family who were loving and caring parents.
His father Klyndor for most of his life had been a noble paladin and had
only recently settled down to raise a family with his mother Arnora. Early
in his life he was faced with many small challenges which he overcame
quickly and gained his rite of passage to the family legacy.
Klyndenstrom's father, grandfather, and great grandfather had all been
paladins. Each served and protected that which was good and holy
within the world. They were strong defenders of their faith and upheld the
paladins code as if it were life itself. Be that as it may, that also means
that he was destine to join the guild when he was old enough and to
become as all his forefathers, a protector. His great grandfather was
guided by the lady of the rose, his grandfather by the open palm, and his
father learned the song of a hammer set upon the anvil. His father was
similar to his grandfather and great grandfather because he protected
those of the light. He was also different in that he made it his mission to
become the best that he could be and strike down those who would
oppress the people he wished to protect. He helped to instill in
Klyndenstrom a strong desire to strike down those who would misuse the
life given to them using it to hurt the people he cared for and an even
stronger desire to reach his peak, to become as close to perfection that
he could. Klyndenstrom left his home when he reached his sixteenth
year and was sent to the city, to his guild and to his future.
