Description

Standing before you a sleek figure resting just over Six and a half feet. Covered in pitch black feathers that seem to be matted with some greasy jell give a dull sheen to his appearance. Two piercing yellow eyes rest between a sharply hooked black beak. Sloping shoulders seem to twist and form into arms that are seemingly slender under all the feathers. Upon his hands short talons protrude like tiny daggers. The smallest finger on his right hand has a talon that seems three times as large as the others, and hooks menacingly. The slender torso seems lean and tense as it nears the hips. Legs that as thin as a sword dangle loosely below and as you gaze furthur down patches of fur seem to be missing from his shins, and give way to a puckering pink flesh. Talons upon his feet stick out menacingly from his boots. At the end of each talon crusted blood seems to have stained itself within the cracks in the talons. As he shifts in the shadows you notice...

As Kocet grew his hatred for the shadows also grew.
The shadows had corrupted his parents, and brought them death.
The mage lured them with promises of gold only to strike them down..
Yet it was in Kocet's blood to walk silently.
And so he did, yet the disdain he carried for other shadow walkers remained.
They were all corrupted by the shadows, victims to their greed of secrets.
They hid only to strike when it best fit them.
Kocet believed the shadows were corrupt.
Yet, he learned that they also were agents of death.
As he grew he heard of tales of bands of warriors ravaging whole legions of mages.
Tearing them limb from limb, he heard of assassins slitting the mages throats as they emerged from their guilds.
Leaving the warm corpses to drain along the roads...
He learned the shadows were his greatest weapon, the bringer of his sword, and the concealing of his wounds.
Yes, Kocet learned this, and yet only he knew their corruption.
Only he had felt their powers destroy his parents so long ago.
As one can imagine my friend, Kocet developed a disdain for all of those except himself..
An arrogance that only he knew the true secrets of the shadows...
A chip off his beak... perhaps as we Arials say...
In order to hear more of this tale.. perhaps another drink?

Disdain for the Shadows.

Orphaned, yes that is the word I suppose or abandoned.
His parents were merchants upon the black market within the Arial City.
They would sell their stolen wares to the highest bidder.
They found wands to be the most profitable it seemed thousands of gold for one..
I tell you this tale not because you asked but because.. you demand.
So how does Kocet come into the tale? We shall wait and see..
His parents deal wands and became wealthy, owning slaves and absorbing other merchants.
Soon they had others do their transactions for them, only seeing certain customers..
Yet with time they relaxed, and that is when the tides turned.
They gave birth to a child, and nurtured him, ignoring their trade.
Their contacts were busy, plotting, wishing to.. gain wealth.
Soon a rich customer came, one who wished an order of a dozen wands..
He had two slaves holding large sacks of gold filled to the brim..
Kocet's parents leaped at the gold grabbing is greedily, as their slaves brought forth the wands.
As Kocet's parents counted the gold the mage mumbled a spell tracing the wand in the air.
His parents fell to the ground fear beating in their hearts
The man stood over them muttering blasphemies as they cried out in pain.
Their eyes clouded with film and blood poured from their ears.
Soon they stopped writhing as their lives escaped their lips.
The reign of the LongTalon's were over, now the man took control of the trade.
A loyal slave whisked Kocet away... to the slums of the city...
To reforge the trade empire that has been destroyed.
