Description
A very tall figure, perhaps good fourteen feet in height, is here.
The bulky and muscle-laden frame is supporting a surprisingly
Smooth and well-rounded face, with striking deep-blue eyes almost
Blazing from their place. Golden colored hair is flaring
Around the creature's head, almost creating a halo of sorts.
Very well-developed arms seem full of strength and the
Rest of the features, albeit not as striking, are very
Proportional and quite fitting such a big creation.
A certain weariness sags the huge frame a bit, as if there is a toll
Of some sort weighed heavily upon those huge shoulders.
And the eyes have a tinge of sorrow and tiredness in them.
Role
The background
Added Wed Nov 24 18:05:45 2010 at level 1:
The Sea of Rodero is not known in Thera, but it is a quite large
Body of water. Many creatures inhabit the Sea, but the territory
Was ruled by the Storms of Rodero. Kolsad was a noble's son, very
Much enjoying his life, spending most of the time in weapons and
Combat training, often adventuring with his peers.
During one such outing, there has been an attack on the Rodero castle
And the city surrounding it. Not a single soul survived it.
Kolsad has returned to smoldering and charred ruins in various
Stages of decay. Many black marks were scattered around the city,
Some seemed quite ordered in nature, making up strange mosaics, the
Likes of which Kolsad has never seen. While most of the group
Stayed behind to perhaps salvage the supplies and maybe start
Rebuilding, Kolsad has ventured towards the high mountain passes
Beyond which, according to some old library sources, which he
Had studied as a child, was a strange land full of mysterious
Creatures and apparently more of his kin as well as unknown dangers.
Purity of purpose: Magic
Added Wed Nov 24 18:15:41 2010 at level 1:
Soon after his arrival to Thera, Kolsad discovered that there's
Magic in the lands, something that was unseen in Rodero.
While initially fascinated with it, he never really understood how
Or why it worked, so he set out to try to study it and its students.
Following the directions for masters of the art given to him by some
Beggar in Hamsah, he strode south and east across the desert, and
There he has encountered the very exact black patterns that surrounded
His destroyed home. A sandstorm soon followed, erasing the marks, but
Kolsad has seen enough. Apparently, magic is so evil and perverse that it
Leads its students towards blind destruction and murder. Even those who
Preach the light will soon enough succumb to those dark arts, that much
Kolsad is certain of, so the only way to help Thera is to put down
Those who study any sort of magical art lest they bring more pain.
It is only mercy. Men should be pure without that taint over them.
Purity of purpose: Evil
Added Wed Nov 24 18:21:17 2010 at level 1:
There is apparently a quite large group of people who just
Enjoy the torture and the kill of others. While not as evil
As the mages, the deeds of those who are of darkness are also
Without an excuse and shall be punished unless they repent
Or can help in a greater purpose of banishing magic.
Purity of mind
Added Wed Dec 8 21:47:00 2010 at level 27:
On the violent seas of Western Aryth I come often to train my resolve.
I have grown not to notice the powerful waves that sweep everything else aside.
It is only me and the violent seas.
And they don't affect me at all.
I wish I could find similar strength against my enemies in Thror's name.
Not all evil is create equal
Added Fri Dec 17 23:19:39 2010 at level 30:
As it turns out, there is the undoubtful Evil that is magic of all kinds.
But it's of different kind that I imagined it to be.
It was so simple, really, and I was too stupid to assume it really was.
Turns out it's a bite more complicated than the mind of a simple giant.
There's the Fort, the home of the misguided.
There's the Scions, the home of the ones that are used to serve other vile means.
There's the Empire, home of the true Evil magic, yet they don't treat all mages the same.
There's the Outlander, the home of the wild souls, if not necessarily sane ones.
There's the Tribunal, the home of the orderly ranks, marching in sync to some wild beliefs.
And finally, there's the Nexus, trying to thin the veil and strengthen the flow of Magic.
All the different strands, yet all connected.
Not all as it appears serve the Evil and do the unthinkable deeds.
Looks like the Crime of Rodero was committed by Scions for their yet unknown purpose.
Also looks like, say, Fort would not support them in that endeavor.
And not necessarily the Evil that is Empire would either.
It just simply would not promote their spread much, if at all.
But that doesn't mean that the use of Magic ultimately serves the Darkness.
Now that I know more, I can easily see a weak man succumbing to the use of those
Magic crutches, and the crutches grow into him until he is no longer himself.
One just needs to take a simple look at the current Marshal.
The crutches overtake the man until he is no longer himself.
What was the support becomes the essense and hence the man itself.
What was the proud man is now only reduced to the simple crutch that is Magic.
And that is unacceptable.
I must try my best to stave this fate off my fellow men and women.
All the evil is REALLY not created equal
Added Fri Dec 17 23:24:34 2010 at level 30:
I have traveled these lands a lot.
I have seen men raise their weapons for different purposes.
There are men in the village that are, in fact, skewed towards Evil.
But they fight a greater Evil than they themselves.
They have overcome their bounds and are selflessly fighting for a greater cause
Than their own well-being. They do seek to destroy the magic and the crutches.
And in that, they should be admired.
For they are not Evil anymore, for they serve the Goodness of the world
And serving them each and every single day
The Village and the fight
Added Sat Feb 12 22:16:17 2011 at level 41:
Unfortunately, the village is fighting a lot of side wars that detract
From its primary purpose in my opinion. Many get wanted and then spend
Their time battling guards and tribunals for no real reason.
And most of the times that distraction was not necessary.
While the Empire is not a bad target to go after the other enemies are dead,
It should not be the primary focus of the war.
While I personally do welcome hunting the imperials, it shouldn't
Serve as a distraction from the bigger war.
I have also seen quite a bit of incompetence and poor choices
From my brothers and I reckon I should grow soon to show how it's done.
Commander and the village need some help.
The passing of Ghrimriddor
Added Sat Apr 9 17:08:23 2011 at level 51:
I was very saddened to learn the passing of the dwarf.
Me and him were the only light shining in the village, and now it's just me.
He always told me to be ready for something, but never told what or when.
It's very disappointing that I wasn't able to help his on his way.
I suppose now it's upon me to finish what he started.
I'll just have to find out what that is.
