Two months later as Korost came upon a darkened forest. As
she strolled through the pines a girl's cry could be heard.
Dashing over, she witnessed a young girl cornered by a large
wolf. "Stop wolfyman!" yelled Korost, and the creature
obeyed. It's body began changing shape, twisting and morphing
until it stabilized into a human form. "This does not involve
you", spoke the human. "What goes on here?" replied Korost.
The man informed Korost of the young girl's thieving ways and
Korost realized thie girl was no better than the wolfman trying
to punish her. "I can help!" cried Korost as he began picking
twigs out of the nest within her satchel. Finding a tree branch
nearby and stringing it with weeds, Korost had formed a bow.
She took the twigs and began gnawing the edges into sharpened
tips. She began plucking her beautiful plumes to finish off
the hand-made arrows. As she finished, she drew her newfound
weaponry and fired at the girl. Alas her accuracy was not as
good as her craftmanship and she merely struck the girl in the
toe. The wolfman, eager to copy Korost, began the same process
of making a bow. Completing it and the beginnings of arrows, he
began plucking one feather after another from Korost's body.
"Yelp!" cried Korost, "what are you doing?". With rage in his
eyes the wolfman stared hungrily at Korost and plucked with more
fervor. By the time Korost was able to escape the rabid wolfman's
plucking she was left with one feather. As the chaos ensued, the
thieving girl escaped. Korost ran as fast as her bird legs would
carry her, never looking back.
Having witnessed what untamed evil could do, Korost learned that
evil intentions were the mere beginnings of an all-encompassing evil
and was no better nor worse than the suffering she had experienced
at the hands of the elves. As a pendulum swings in rhythm, this
harmonius equilibrium cannot be altered for a pendulum swinging too
far one way will eventually fall. Thera is like a young tree. If
it receives too little water and sunlight it shall wither an die;
too much and it will grow too large for it's surroundings and
cause destruction as it alters it's surroundings to survive. The
dichotomy of good and evil, order and chaos are delicate but in need
of maintenance. Seeking to aid in the quest for balance, Korost
joined the ranks of Nexus and so begins her story....
The beginnings of Korost One-Feather

A simple bird, with an eye for style, Korost was born of
common arial background. Leaving the nest as a teenager
to explore the untamed world, Korost soon found much was
maligned in Thera....
Lowering her satchel as she approaches a Vale, a sign can be
seen saying "Welcome to Arendyl, home of the friendly elves".
"A happy place indeed", she thought to herself as she made
her way through the village. As Korost watched the children
play their favorite game of hide and seek an idea began to
form. Korost quickly gathered up any remaining eggs from her
satchel and began to hide them around the village; every spot
hand picked to perfection. She rallied the elvish children
and instructed them on the rules of the game: Prizes for each
egg found and as always "size does matter". The children
uncovered every stone and left no cranny untouched in their
quest for eggs. Prizes were handed out as the largest children
were quick to find their first eggs. In the corner, an elven
child named Relagar sat, arms folded, tears in his eyes. Korost
approached the child asking him "Why so serious?". The child
was unable to find any eggs so Korost gave him quite the hint
to find a rather large egg. Returning victorious to Korost, the
child was very happy to receive a better reward than many who
had found smaller eggs. The other children saw this and began
to question Korost of the fairness of the game. Their distrust
began to grow and soon the children began hurling the eggs at
Korost. Finding himself covered in egg splatter and at the
center of a pack of very angry children, Korost took flight,
pondering this sudden turn of events. It seemed even those
who would boast auras of gold turned upon each other. Too
much pleasure still brought much pain....
