Description

The towering figure before you stands tall, even for one of his race. However, he does not appear as heavy of build as many of his kin. Kraldinors head is cleanly shaven and shines with oils of anointing. His face is cleanly shaven as well, and some wrinkles have begun to appear around his eyes. The robes in which Kraldinor covers himself seem of fine materials and look to be fitted just for him. He obviously has given attention to his grooming and dress. Kraldinor does give a martial appearance, but is carrying a flail and few other implements which appear to be designed to inflict pain.

Role

Kraldinor's Early Years

Added Fri Dec 7 07:58:39 2012 at level 10:
Kraldinor got out of his bed and put his robe on. He felt no real need to
cover himself, but loved the feel of the robe which has been custom made for
him. He looked somewhat fondly at the corpse which had been laying next to
him, who had also been the one to give him the robe. Kraldinor had figured
out that she mainly had been interested in the novelty of bedding a giant,
versus what he had originally thought was her recognition in the greatness he
embodied. Worse than that, she had begun to treat him like a pet, not
recognizing Kraldinor has his better, however, she did have her talents,
which the giant took advantage of one more time. She likely thought his
actions were just him being rough, as he often was, and may not have never
even realized her end was at hand.

Kraldinor had no recollection of his his parents, or where he had come from.
His earliest memories were of being raised by a foreboding priest in the
desert city of Hamsah Mutaaz. The priest seemed focused on the doom and
gloom which seemed to fascinate so many in that city speaking of how the end
was near and death was coming for all. Those he ministered to seemed to hold
no fondness for the priest, but fear respect, and awe. Kraldinor did not
quite understand why, for, although fairly sheltered, he had seen some
violence in the streets of the city and those who were victorius in it.The
priest was small, shrunken, pathetic thing compared to many of these, but he
still seemed to be more feared.

The priest was never cruel to Kraldinor, and was almost kind as much as his
demeanor allowed it. He praised the giant on his strength and often told him
he was clever when they would have long discussions(Kraldinor would later
wonder if this had been in a mocking tone). Their abode was small, so there
was little needed to maintain it, so the little time the priest spent there
he mainly spent trying to teach the giant.

Kraldinor listened, but did not embrace what he was taught. The world look a
place full of opportunity to him, and he felt himself one would would be able
to take advantage of them. He never expressed his doubts, and readily
accepted the praise the priest would give him he felt the giant expressed
understanding.

Kraldinor's would finally learn something from the old priests demise
however. While there were many who seemed to fear him, none loved him, and
many seemed to hate him. He would hear of the actions of some of these as
when others of the priest order would come to claim his abode and his few
possesions. They spoke to Kraldinor of the mob which had torn him apart as
they ushered the giant out of the place he had spent some of his youth.

New Realizations

Added Fri Dec 7 20:07:23 2012 at level 11:
Kraldinor leaving the abode was not that significant to him. He had wandered
off whenever he could and had only stayed because of the priest. A strong
arm could always find a way to make some coin, and Kraldinor already new many
in the city, so he did not suffer on the streets as some might have.

Kraldinor had always spent much time speaking with residents of the city on
what he considered to be philosopical matters. As the priest had always
tried to teach the giant, Kraldinor considered himself learned. He thought
those he spoke with enjoyed keeping him around because they thought him
clever and wise, though he would start to learn as he spent more time with
them, they thought him an amusing fool, which Kraldinor never took well.

Growing up where he did as he did, Kraldinor considered most others of his
race to be unrefined savages and he tended to avoid them. He thought himself
more of a thinker akin to some of the humans, but as he found himself treated
more openly derissively, he became more confused. Even though treatment
would change when he might breaks someones arms or such for making fun of
him, his eyes had been open somewhat.

Kraldinor did not realize it, but he was becoming more despondent as well
because he missed the frequent praise from the priest which he considered to
be sincere. He had always thought highly of himself, and expected others to
do the same.

The Priest of Hope

Added Fri Dec 7 20:19:23 2012 at level 11:
Kraldinok knew very soon, his life needed more direction. No one would ever
recognize the greatness of wanderer working off jobs. He thought of the
priest and the respect he seemed to garner, if not love. Kraldinok would not
admit it, but he wanted both. He did never agreed with the bleak teachings
of the priest, always believing the world held many opportunities for those
who would embrace them.

Kraldinok decided he would become a priest as well, but his message would be
one of hope that those who heard would both respect and embrace him for.
Instead of a world destined to pass, he would speak of a world which rise to
greatness unimaginable and, more importantly, of those who would build it.
As he himself was great, he would help others to find the greatness in
themselves as well, and teach them to channel it in away that would leave
others still praising their names after they were gone.

As Kraldinok learned more of the pantheon of gods and their teachings he
finally found the one he felt spoke to him. He set out to find her, to make
himself her priest.

Looking for Love.....

Added Wed Jan 2 12:17:18 2013 at level 38:
After some years, Kraldinor was able to find his way to the one he sought. He
was disconcerted by all of those he found in the company of his would be
patron and their frivolity. However, as he gained his audience, he could tell
his goddess was wise regardless of how foolish he thought the company he
found her in.

They spoke of love and self importance, but mainly love, somewhat to
Kraldinor's chagrin. He found himself getting tangled up in the questions
asked, and set forth to better understand the nature of the things his
goddess asked him about. As he searched, however, he was somewhat comforted
that others seemed as unable to express answers to his questions as he had
been.

Upon a second visit to his patron, He felt that he was beginning to have a
greater grasp of the concepts presented to him and the things asked of him to
explain. When asked how his progression would move forward, he chose to focus
his meditations on the crueler forms of love, and acts of love many would not
see as such. He also found he was better able concentrate despite all the
distractions around him in the shrine of his goddess.

Meanwhile...

Added Wed Jan 2 12:20:43 2013 at level 38:
Meanwhile, back at the palace, Kraldinor has been pleased with the value the
leaders of the Empire see in him as evidenced by the War Master seeking him
to give him the oath and rapid promotions from the High Priest.

He is also happy with the myriad of foes facing the Empire giving him ample
opportunity to shows his superiority in strength and ability. He expects to
be High Priest someday, although loyal to the current High Priest. However he
expects to see him ascend to the throne, or else just outlive him.

Rise of the Giants

Added Tue Jan 22 15:46:09 2013 at level 51:
Kraldinor had once thought himself better than his giant kin and preferred
the company of humans, drow and others to them, thinking giants rather dense.
However, as he had grown, he still thought himself better than his kin, but
had realized with another giant beside him, there were few who could stand
against them (except elven warriors, and maybe some bards, but they don't
really count). He had grown to love the straightforward nature and brutish
integrity of his kin, and even found hismelf falling into their speech
patterns when in their company (which annoyed Kraldinor). Moreover he
prefered their methods and company to those he found more deceptive or
salacious.

Although he had risen to the top of the ranks of the Empire, Kraldinor was
becoming somehwhat disgruntled that their ranks continued to decrease while
those of their enemies swelled. However, he drew some comfort that his very
presence showed a failure of his foes to extinguish his dreams and goals, and
strengthened his resolved to continue the conquest of the Empire as long as
he remained able.

Kraldinor continued to grow in his religous thought as well, having come to
terms which each of the major facets of the teachings of his goddess and
trying to shape them into something more personal to him. However, he also
found increasing hostility toward some of her other followers, who he
considered to only be giving lip service to the tenets he understood to be
true.

A Giant Looks at 240

Added Sun Feb 3 08:41:36 2013 at level 51:
Kraldinor reaches middle age with some sense of regret. His carefully
braided orange hair is starting to show unwelcomed streaks of white along
with his facial hair. Wrinkles are sometimes present around his eyes, and
the toll of injuries and age make getting up in the morning increasingly
unpleasant.

However, the physical manifestations were not the largest cause of
Kraldinor's disappointments. He still struggled with the concepts of his
religion and was wrestling to make a break through. A particularly rigorous
session with his Goddess and an assistant seemed to awaken new understanding
in Kraldinor lacking before, but the form and magnitude of the lesson left
him with much to sort to get to the core of the teachings.

Additionally, Kraldinor had seen some ebb and flow of the fortune's of the
Empire, but mainly ebb.He often feels that the entire weight of the Empire
is on his back, but had begun to wonder if he is being properly rewarded and
recognized for his efforts.

Fear and Loathing (and their defeat)

Added Thu Feb 7 23:19:37 2013 at level 51:
Kraldinor looked shamefacedly at the drink in his hand and the dagger sitting
on the table that he could not quite remember placing there. In a sudden
dawning of realization, he knew that he was failing in what he had sat out to
do, not because of those arrayed against him, but because of himself.

He had let the opposition he faced get to him, forgetting his pride and
becoming petty, feeling sorry for himself and soliciting pity from others.

He finally understood, if others were able to present a message which drew
more than his, it was not their fault they outnumbered him so, but his for
not delivering his message well enough Kraldinor understood his vision for
the future, and knew it was the one that benefited all. He had to increase
his efforts to make others realize the same.

If he had to run and hide for the meantime to buy time to deliver his
message, that was the course he would take, but he would take pride in his
ability to evade his enemies and the numbers they needed to defeat him, and
give in to the feeling that the realm was arrayed against him.

He would also focus more on his religion and his Goddess and concentrate on
them more to maintain inner peace and serenity and take comfort in those.

May The Emperor Live Forever!

Added Wed Feb 27 16:18:44 2013 at level 51:
With the passing of the Emperor, Kraldinor finds himself involved in the political intrigues he
had always tried to keep himself away from. Where he once saw safety and comfort, he now sees
shadows and plotting as the vote is called for who will be the next Emperor.

He naturally supports the High Priest for Emperor, but for more reasons than he is from the
Divine and that it would likely mean Kraldinor would follow him as High Priest. Kraldinor is
one of the elder citizens of the Empire, and remembers the rest of the council as oaths when
he was already an Imperial Priest. He considers many of them brash and unseasoned, not having
lived through the lean times that he has. He fears the place of relative strength Kurbrawn has
left the Empire is tenuous, and rash action could send them back into a downward spiral. He
considers the High Priest to be the only one with the wisdom and power to continue to lead the
Empire's ascent.

Although events in the Palace has Kraldinor concerned for the immediate future of the Empire,
he is elated to finally be marked by his goddess as one of her priests. It has been a journey he
has struggled with more than he expected, and one that is still ongoing, but he recognizes the
significance of this milestone.

As part of his further growth, he has begun to try to reach out more to enemies. Besides just
impressing upon them the superiority of the Empire, and the benefits it can bring them, he
is seeking out the weaker among them, who might not be long for the realm, and trying to help
them find the peace in themselves that he has found that will enable them to embrace who they
are (hopefully in a way compatible with civilization) and continue with their lives. A specific
instance of this is with the Anathema Brathuhn, who Kraldinor persuaded to take the dagger
away from her wrist. Kraldinor will keep his eye on this one as a possible reclamation for
the Empire in the future, should his influence grow, and one that he would expect to be
loyal to him if things should reach that stage.

And the Winner is........

Added Fri Mar 8 10:39:16 2013 at level 51:
Kraldinor is relieved to have the vote over and the former High Priest on the throne. He feels
his loyalty has payed off in his promotion to High Priest, and has seen the council member he
considered the biggest liability take their life after not becoming Emperor. The recent upsurge
in Imperial prosperity seems to continue.

However, Kraldinor is beginning to wonder if some of the eccentricies which were endearing
when the Emperor was a council member, might not become liabilities. In his first major
decision as Emperor, the new ruler chose a fight in the Arena as the method to choose the new
War Master. To Kraldinor, this seemed to be as much for the Emperors entertainment as any
thing else. Kraldinor thought this might be a fitting way for barbarians and savages to choose
their leaders, but thought it a bit reckless in building an Empire. His concern was further
aggravated by the results which ended in the promotion of one he considered a loose cannon
and possibly contributed to the death of a valued companion.

This process also demonstrated to Kraldinor he has less of a voice with the new Emperor than
he did with the old, even though the new came from the same sect and Kraldinor now sits on
the council. However, Kraldinor realizes one decision does not define a legacy, so keeps any
doubts which might start creeping in to himself, although he is still trying to foster some of
younger blades and hopes to see another giant as War Master as soon as possible.

Kraldinor so far has failed to in his quest to teach a self-loathing foe to love themselves. The
start he had ended in suicide regardless, and he has failed to recognize other opportunities
quickly enough to act. However, he is still optimistic he will have the chance he seeks, and
is pursuing other avenues to continue his religious growth.

I get by with a little help.....

Added Fri Mar 29 23:04:17 2013 at level 51:
Kraldinor struggled as old doubts and fears thought long banished began to
resurface. He became more lackadaisical as the possibility of accomplishing
anything he set out to do became more fleeting.

After a long sabbatical, The High Priest returns to find an Empire more
weakened than ever before. The bright future he hoped for at the end of the
last vote seems a foolish dream now as the codex decays in the Fortress or
Tree most days as the lifespan of most Imperials seems ever shortening.

However, a few victories and, more importantly, finding a few allies to fight
beside, even if temporary, do much to lift his spirits. Additionally, he sees
that a few of the Empire continue to trudge on as well. If his presence can
serve as an inspiration, he will remain at his duties.

Kraldinor realizes his vision of a realm united under one Emperor is one he
will never see. He starts to think of the War in terms of just staying alive
and hurting his main enemies of the Fortress and Tree. He was never very
enthusiastic about warring with the now defunct village and also wonders if
spending any effort on the scions is worthwhile. However, as always, he keeps
any unloyal thoughts to himself.

Their Hearts, Their Souls, My Gold.....

Added Tue Apr 9 16:17:12 2013 at level 51:
Kraldinor surveyed the new graves wondering if perhaps the latest additions
would make better zombies than they did citizens. He thought the Empire was
possibly on an upswing after years of decay, but it ended the same as all the
other false starts. He hopes the recruiters will start bringing in some more
capable candidates amongst the riffraff, thugs, thieves, and murderers they
typically filled the ranks with. Promises of gold and power often were not
enough when the young citizens realized they actually had to work, bleed, and
possibly die for them.

Kraldinor is personally faring a little better. He has learned to better
recognize the situations which are risky versus the ones that are suicide.
He is able to negotiate the realm to the point he can even occasionally
attempt assaults on the strongholds of the Empires enemies.

Kraldinor continues to ponder his religious beliefs, and think of new ways to
try to impress his goddess (or a way).

The Council

Added Fri Apr 12 16:14:59 2013 at level 51:
Kraldinor looked at the empty seats around him. He found himself the one
remaining member of the council, with no sign that any of the vacancies would
be filled anytime soon. Kraldinor had offered his opinions on successors to
the Emperor, but found his suggestions ignored. Believing more aggressive
measures are needed to turn around the Empire's fortunes, he decides to give
his recommendations to the Empires dark lords. He recognizes that his actions
could be perceived as disloyal to the Emperor, but feels more strongly doing
nothing would be disloyal to the Empire.

Dear Diary

Added Mon May 13 12:07:56 2013 at level 51:
Dear Diary,

Sorry I haven't written in a while, but being Emperor is taking up a lot of
time, plus a few other things I see no need to put in print.

Anyway, I have surprisinly found myself the ruler of Thera. That most of
Thera doesn't acknoledge this is something I am still working on but seem to
have things in a little better shape then when I took over. My pedecessor
took to much time minding his harem and not enough ruling, a pitfall I am
trying to avoid.

I have dedicated the Empire to my Goddess. There was surprisingly little
resistance, although I can hear mutterings at times when my back is turned.
There are none who feel strongly enough about it to take action though.

I have filled my council. I feel fairly comfrotable with it. For the most
part, I took the eldest, but it should work. My high priest serves the same
goddess as I, so should be trust worthy. My shadow lord and war master hate
the dread lord, so I actually expect my dreadlord to alert me of any
plotting, since it is doubtful he would become Emperor.

The Empire is a little stronger, but still fairly delicate. When tries to be
aggressive against our enemies, I tend to leave a trail of Imperial corpses
behind me. This is something I need to be mindful of until I have the power
behind me I need.
