Description

A bird man stands before you. He looks to be roughly six feet in height but his glistening feathers make him appear somewhat taller. At the moment his wings are outstretched and you are treated to the full splendor of this creatures symphony of colored feathers that range from the palest green to the deepest red. The feathers that cover from his head seem to be much the same as those that garner the wings and they cover the tip of his head to just above the claws. Several weapons seem within easy grasp and his hands never seem to stray far from his side.

It seemed he had been given leadership at the worst possible time. Enemies were
everywhere. They flocked from wilderness, raged from the barbarian village,
stumbled out of the fortress or filled the lands with dread as the emerged from
their hole. Some would come for him alone though most would come on mass. And
so Kresin's idea of fighting changed. No longer did he care for honor. He would
take a challenge where he saw it but it was victory that mattered. Victory at
any price.

A new War Master

After what seemed an age the vote was in. The Shadow Lord perhaps knowing of
his imminent defeat resigned his post and was not seen again. It was the Lich
that was elected. So a new Lich Empress was made to strike fear into the
enemies of the Empire. The War Master took his own life in shame and despair
of losing the vote and perhaps having to serve the Lich. A better turn of
events Kresin could not hope for and true to its dark word the Lich looked
upon Kresin to lead the Blades as was his right.
But at first it seemed he was now leader of an empty sect. It was many days
before he even saw his first Blade. A recruitment was in dire need so to
his remaining blades he set the task of bringing new blood in. By any means
possible.

War Master

So it was that Kresin was promoted. But it was Krikar that took the
mantle of War Master. Outwardly Kresin was proud and content that
the blade he most respected took this position. Inside however
all was not well. It could be a long time before a new War Master
was needed and Kresin knew he could well be dead before that happened.
So he made a deal with the newly formed Lich. The Dread Lady as it was.
Where once he was loath to deal with any of the other sects he aided
the Dread Lady in garnering the power she required to become fully
transformed. He even travelled under water to banish spirits such was
he desire. So the promise was made. That if the Dread lady became
Empress she would look to Kresin for the mantle of War Master. Kresin
knew the position perhaps would not be available immediately but
he did not wish to wait until his death. Always a patient soul in this
he was not.

An Imperial Life

The Empires enemies were vast. How such a small army was meant to
retain order was beyond Kresin at times. Such a power vacuum had
been created by the death of the Emperor. No War Master had been
chosen prior to his death and the halls echoed with every winged
step he took. There was a promise of power though and Kresin could
almost taste it. Someone would have to take their place and Kresin
vowed that one day he would lead the Blades. For now though all he
could do was battle on joining with the few citizens that still
had the strength to fight.
Kresin looked up to the skies once again as he did so often these
days. Was that an eagle he saw? It was hard to tell but if it
was then likely battle was only moments away. His daggers still
were bloodied from when he last fought. Never it seemed he had time
to clean them properly. With a moments thought he hoped they would
not dull before their time.

Personal Information

Kresin was a natural fighter. He longed for the excitement
that single combat brought. Fighting alone he didnt have
to worry about what his companions were doing. And could
focus on his own abilities. He had his own morals of a sort.
A victory over a much weaker opponent was not much of victory
at all. Killing a cowering foe was hardly sport. Many a time
did he let his opponents flee and cower in the shadows whilst
he moved on in disgust.
Kresin did from time to time employ others to aid him take on
larger parties of foes but it was only when near necessary or
when war ensued.
There were foes though that Kresin was no match for. He knew
this even though it was hard to take. Death was something
he did not choose to embrace lightly so to these foes that
he had no chance against he would avoid until he had gained
enough strength to bring them down.

An Imperial Soldier

Kresin took the oath and swore to embrace the life of a citizen.
After wandering for much of the time since the cook had died he
began to lose focus on life. Order and purpose was needed and he
found that in the Imperial army. There he gained a sense of
belonging, if not friendship, for he had never needed such.
From time to time he would take in the tapestries within the
Imperial Palace and see the heroes of the past in all their glory
and might. And he knew that one day he would lead armies into
battle and be pictured upon newly created murals.

Background

Kresin was raised in a small human outpost village.
He had been found near dead when he was all but a baby.
The local cook took the boy in and nursed him back to
health. Of course it was not pity or any feelings of
kindness that the cook displayed but he saw an opportunity
and took it. Soon as he was old enough Kresin became
little more than the cook's slave. He was not an overly
cruel master but the cook had no kindness in him. The
beatings he dealt were measured to teach, and were not
sadistic in nature. Though for one so young Kresin
would never know the difference. However much order
was brought into Kresin's life and it would leave a
lasting impression.

Kresin spent much of his spare time, little as there was,
fighting with the other children of the outpost. He
was the only non human and he bore the brunt of the
other childrens mischief. He was much weaker than most
of the other kids but his quickness gave him an edge
that he soon learnt to exploit. As he grew and his
abilities increased it was Kresin that had to go looking
for trouble, and at times it was hard to find as most
would avoid him unless in numbers.
Then one day the cook died in his sleep. Likely due to
the years of drinking that had fuelled his life. With
his death Kresin was at a loss. No longer had he reason
to stay at the outpost, so with barely a glance back he
gathered his meagre possessions and set off to find his
way in life.
