Chapter 1: Hopes & dreams
Added Tue Dec 26 15:02:45 2017 at level 37:
In the remote foothills of one of the southernmost mountains in the realm,
lays a little principality of Fujisaki. It is a principality in name really,
this remote kingdom is made up of two villages that nestle the banks of a
fledgling river. Ruled by an ambitious Lord Fujiuchi, Fujiuchi was not a
despot or a man of evil intentions though he was very pragmatic in his
approach on life.
A constant source of anxiety to Lord Fujiuchi was the
meager size of his kingdom and his two children. Balu and Kritori. The
kingdom was much too small to support both the children at this passing,
Fujichu knew he would have to find a way to enrichen himself. His hope had
always been that he would marry off his daughter into a well to do family,
increase his influence and assuring that his small kingdom pass on to Balu.
Kritoris infatuation with martial training and general life view as a
tomboy however caused considerable complications for Lord Fujiuchi and his
plan.
Lord Fujiuchi caught a break when a rival from a little ways down the
road came calling. Lord Ogoshi, despite being ten years the senior of Lord
Fujiuchi came expressing interest in young Kritori. While any father would
have hoped for better for his daughter, Fujiuchi wasnt about to look a
gift horse in the mouth. He knew right away that this was likely as good an
offer he was going to get on odd duck daughter.Reluctantly and perhaps a
little hopefully, Lord Fujiuchi approached his daughter telling him of a
possible suitor and an end to all his anxiety. That went over about as well
as one would expect, though in a novel twist Kritori accepted the proposal
with a demand that Lord Ogoshi would best her in martial combat to earn her
hand in marriage.
Chapter 2: Swift end

She isnt particularly pretty, nor is she going to make
a particularly good wife..Lord Ogoshi thought to himself as he stripped
down to his britches in front of the gods and everybody else. But pride
demanded that Ogoshi beat this upstart female and put her in his place.
Ogoshi squared off against his soon to be bride and any hopes of marital
bliss faded as he looked upon her face. There was unbridled rage in those
eyes, it didnt look like both of them were getting out of that makeshift
ring alive.
When it was all said and done, many things lay in tatters. Lord Ogoshis
self respect, Lord Fujichus plan to wed his daughter, Kritotis hope of
a quiet life. Perhaps Kritori had taken things a little too far when she
made Ogoshi squeal like a pig, but by then the damage was quite done.
Chapter 3: Tandem Oaths
Added Tue Dec 26 15:08:09 2017 at level 37:
his soon to be bride traveled fast, it was the tale of the day at every inn
on the way home adding to Ogoshis humiliation. A baleful Ogoshi marched
right past his palace to the embassy of the Empire, in the middle of the
night he woke up the Imperial Inquisitor and swore an oath then and there.
In his humiliation, Ogoshi gave in to the empire at a chance for revenge.
His only demand that he be allowed the resources and authority to wage war on
the kingdom of Fujisaki.
Mere two days after the ill fated duel, Lord Ogoshi returned to the gates of
Fujisaki with full contingent of imperial troops adding to his own. The
terms of the siege were simple, absolute surrender and Kritori to be turned
over to Ogoshi.A stand was against the question to all, Fujiuchi had been
made similar offers by the empire before and considered the offer in earnest
in the past. In light of the failure of plan A, Lord Fujiuchi had not
expected plan B to materialize as swiftly as it did.
Without hesitation Lord Fujiuchi fell to his knees and swore the blood-oath.
Lord Fujiuchi had considered joining the ever encroaching reality of life as
an imperial state, he didnt expect it to be so quick and final. With
that, he stood by his new masters and waited for his daughter to be judged.
Kritori looked in in horror as her simple life came to an end right before
her eyes. Her fathers betrayal, which was followed by her brother and
every male in her village left her numb. It did not seem right that it took
just a short blood oath for darkness to seep into her little corner of the
world. The light had been betrayed by her own flesh and blood, and her pride
had played am immediate part in it.
Chapter 4: A Ronin's shame
Added Tue Dec 26 15:12:00 2017 at level 37:
Perhaps it was the cultural concept of shame, perhaps it was something primal
about being given to a dark authority without consent, perhaps it was the
lights own retribution. Kritori added three badges of shame to her
unsullied mantle that day. The shame that her family had brought to the
land, the shame of patricide and the shame of fratricide. One did not cancel
out the other, all three badges were hers to wear, atonement would be
difficult if not impossible for Kritori.
So begins the tale of this Ronin.
The end is already written for one Kritori Fujiuchi, it is all a matter of
how she meets it.
Character Notes
Added Tue Dec 26 15:41:54 2017 at level 37:
Kritori is an absolute student.Anything she takes to, she studies
relentlessly, and attempts to gain a perfect understanding of.
As is typical of people of the southern continent, Kritori refers to herself
in the third person frequently.Almost exclusively if Kritori is using the
term she, she is talking about herself.
As expect of a ronin, Kritori is fatalistic to a fault. She has already
decided that when her duty is done she must commit ritual suicide to erase
her shame, everything in between is just waiting on the inevitable.
She is extremely protective over others, she feels like her family let down
her little kingdom. To that end she will go to any length to help someone in
need or to dole out retribution in defense of the needy.
She is too wrapped up in her sense of duty and personal shame to think she is
worthy of attention of the gods. If Ergush ever decided to show her any
attention or a path way out of eventual suicide, she will hop right to it.
Hatred of Empire is a mainstay in Kritoris life. Given a choice between
going after empire or run of middle evil, empire will always be the obvious
target.
