Description

A black furred felar drifts in and out of the shadows before you. His ears lie flat against his head and his eyes gleam with a yellow, feral light. His fur is clean and well kept, and his teeth are dull white and appear to be extremely sharp. He wears dark clothing, tied across his waist with a wide cloth sash, and the dark leather hilt of a cutting sword peeks up from over his shoulder. He moves lightly on his feet, like a soft black wind.

Role

Ktaar Kitane

Added Thu Mar 8 01:22:04 2007 at level 3:
He was born in BlackClaw to a mercenary and a whore. They named
him Ktaar Kitane. His father was harsh and violet. Unforgiving,
unrewarding. He left for work when Ktaar Kitane was still a young boy
and never returned, and he is probably dead. But not Ktaar Kitane.
His mother was an alcoholic, and very bitter. But she did her best for
Ktaar Kitane. It wasn't easy, but when the day ended, Ktaar Kitane
was fed. Until a few years went by, and his mother was killed by a
group of fire giant mercenary passing through on the way to Kiadana
Rah. She was trash. No one tried to stop them. No one cared for
vengeance. No one cared, at all. No one, but Ktaar Kitane.

Ktaar Kitane was too young for vengeance, but he was old enough to
know he had to seize control of his own life. He would make himself a
weapon. He devoted himself to fighting, clawing for his life in gambling
bloodfights in the streets of BlackClaw. Ktaar Kitane was not strong,
but he was swift. Others called him the black wind. And he was
merciless, gutting foes with abandon. Over time he amassed wealth
and blood, but nether were not enough to satiate his hunger.

BlackClaw was too small. Too rudimentary. And so Ktaar Kitane left.

NOTES FROM ABOVE:
1. He refers to himself in the third person, as Ktaar Kitane.

2. Ktaar Kitate HATES fire giants. Unless he's caballed with them, he
will attack them at the appropriate opportunity. If he is caballed with
them, he will not group with them unless ordered, and even then, will
likely find a way to sabotage them.. fatally.

He will avoid telling the truth, freely.

He is boastful, and not above taunting others.

Empire!

Added Thu Mar 15 20:50:14 2007 at level 26:
This character took a turn that I did not expect: he joined the Empire.
This is how it happened:
Ktaar Kitane hunted dwarves for several days alongside a duergar
named Akefus. The duergar impressed Ktaar greatly. He was slow,
plodding like the rest of his kind, but he was also bloody and fearless.
Ktaar saw a kindred spirit.

Time passed, and when Ktaar next saw Akefus, he had joined the
Empire and wore the title "Bloodoath." This was surprising, that Akefus
would bend knee to the cruel and barbaric fire giants Hunsobo and
Kharghalen, and also that such a proud warrior would take the title
"Bloodoath" and lower himself to the stature of a servant.

Akefus and Ktaar talked. Ktaar explained he would never bend knee
to a giant. Akefus said a man does not bend knee to the emperor, a
man bends knee to the Empire. Akefus also stated that the day was
coming to an end for the giants. This all made sense to Ktaar, and
pleased him.

Ktaar and Akefus then parted company, and Ktaar made his way to
Galadon to speak with the Provincial Magistrate Maethron as Ktaar
had always planned. They spoke, and as Maethron spoke, a strange
feeling came over Ktaar Kitane. This elf spoke with a simpering
melodic voice. Ktaar could obey orders - he had served as a
mercenary, after all - but he could not respect this elf. And he though
while the elf continued to speak in that grating, melodic voice: Would
Ktaar Kitane rather bend knee and associate with this elf, or would he
rather draw blades besides warmen such as Akefus? Ktaar's Pride
gained hold, and Ktaar left the interview, and made his way to the
Shadow Lord in the Imperial Lands.

Evolving Emotions: Fire Giants

Added Sat Apr 14 16:39:53 2007 at level 40:
Ktaar Kitane has been an imperial for a long time now, and his
attitude toward fire giants is evolving. This is mainly because of two
giants: Kharghurln and Hunsobo. Ktaar cannot deny that they are
the strongest and most powerful warriors in the Empire. And Ktaar
cannot deny that when either giant is awake things happen. They
are both powerful catalysts and forces to be reckoned with.

And so Ktaar Kitane is torn. On one hand, Ktaar is a proud warrior
and respects two warriors that are so gifted. On the other hand,
every time he sees them, he feels bitterness and long-simmering
hatred. It is difficult for Ktaar to separate the two.

The day of reckoning will come. But for now, Ktaar masks his hatred
beneath respect and masters his skills, forging himself into a weapon
that cannot be broken.
