Description

Roughly average height for his kind, Kunjiko stretches to just over six feet tall. His body is covered with feathers of a dark ebony. The frame is slender though looks well muscled and obviously well maintained possibly through long hours of training with the many weapons at his side. The eyes hint of intelligence but there is also a coldness there that is not easy to define. The armor he wears is light but like his body is well maintained and he moves with an elegant and confident manner.

Role

The War Years

The war raged on. Battles were won and lost and Kunjiko
changed. It happened slowly at first but as the Imperial
defeats mounted and their enemies grew in ever increasing
numbers it steadily changed him. No longer did he seek
out honourable combat like he once had. His enemies did
not care for it and the few that did were vastly superior
in might to Kunjiko, though he was loath to admit it.
Where it suited he fought single combat, mostly to test
himself now rather than any true sense of purpose.
And a new enemy had been born. One Kunjiko despised more
than all the others. The ones known as Nexites. The changed
their allegiance at a whim and could never be trusted.
They were betrayers to all and most were cowards who hid
in the shadows or called in many allies to combat a single
enemy. Kunjiko loathed them more than even the self righteous
fortress dwellers. But for now he would use them. Until the
day came to bring their walls crashing down upon them into
final ruin.

Combat

Many years had Kunjiko fought for the Blades. Many battles
won, many lost. His foes were numerous and his allies few
but most of all where he sought honor in combat others did
not. It began to weigh on his mind that perhaps strength
of self was not enough and that his teachings were wrong.
It was perhaps time to forget about the battle and focus
solely on the outcome. By any means possible. Perhaps that
time would come but for now he would stay true to the
teachings. For now.

The Defeat

Added Fri Nov 23 03:43:19 2007 at level 28:

The oath had been sworn and the donations for the coffers
bought. It was merely time before Kunjiko joined the
ranks of the Imperial Blades. However the first chance
at being brought into the fold was lost in a shameful
defeat at the hands of a fellow oath. The War Master had
called them both to duel to see who was worthy of promotion.
It was a battle Kunjiko should have won. He had even done
battle with the duergar before he had sworn the oath and
had sent him running several times. But this was not to go
the same way. The battle was all but won when the duergar
with a lucky swing of his mace broke Kunjiko's bones and
landed a quick succession of powerful strikes which ended
the battle. It was a humilating defeat by all accounts and
that it happened in front of the War Master was inexcusable.
Shorlty there after the Empresses promoted Kunjiko due to
his donations but the shame of his defeat was to stay with
him. The duergar was his ally and a fellow Blade now. But
a time would come when Kunjiko would have his revenge. He
did not know what form the revenge would take only that it
would come. Until then his hatred would stay well hidden
and he would the use the duergar as he could.

Kunjiko comes from a long line of Imperial Soldiers.
So it was natural for him to aspire to join their ranks.
He was more gifted, as least in his own mind, than
those of his family who had served before him. They
had all merely been soldiers of the line but this was
not the life Kunjiko saw for himself. He saw the power
and believed there was nothing beyond his grasp if
he merely reached out to take it. So he trained
long and hard for the day when he would finally swear
allegiance to the Empire.
