Description
Dark and rough, Kyllothian cuts an unsettling figure. His limbs and body are
lithe and long, almost to an abnormally extended point, granting him an
imposing height closer to seven feet than six. Flowing unbound like water
from a great height, his silver hair cascades down his shoulders like the
highest falls on (or beneath) Thera.
His clothing is black, and his armor darkened with dust, dirt, and grim.
Lighter streaks mar the solid darkness of his form, with the appearance of
something which has fallen on him from above and appear on his limbs and
cloak. Closer, there is the unmistakable scent of guano rising off of him.
His eyes, two dark violet pits in a narrow and rugged face, glow with a
careful and considered menace. A sharp, angular chin and a hawkish nose
complete his appearance as a vicious predator.
Scars and callouses adorn both the palms and backs of his hands, while his
nails are broken, chipped, or entirely missing and only just starting to
regrow from some recent trauma.

Whispers are told only in the darkest nights of Teth Azaleth of the
Kyllothan. No one knows the true origin of this night terror, though many wet
nurses threaten and scold their wards against misbehavior by invoking his
name. Some say that he, never a she, was a rejected first born of the first
house, turned loose as an infant to the wilds of the Underdark. Others speak
of the most highly trained warrior, turned loose by the High Priestess of
Lloth to terrorize mages and enemy priests, and many other rumors swirl about
this obfuscated figured.
To be honest, no one in the Underdark really knows who the Kyllothan is, but
none can mistake the terrible signs of his passing. Magi impaled upon
stalagmites, their skin flayed from their body, an eternal scream upon their
unmoving lips. Or priests, laid bare in the limestone caverns, the flesh and
muscle of their backs rise likes wisps of smoke from the extreme flagellation
they received. And as is fitting for dark elven society, the most gruesome
corpses that are left as testament to the Kyllothan's existence were females,
the rulers of their society. Yet, certain males were left to bear witness to
these vicious acts.
Thus, to this day, Dark Elves see fit to war among themselves within the
walls of Teth Azaleth, because they know the Kyllothan will haunt and hunt
their every move through the inky darkness of the cavernous depths of the
Underdark should the step out of their protectorate.
Becoming the Kyllothan.

"Quite your sniveling, before I slice your throat" a stern man spoke to a
young dark elf, no more than a child. "Beasts and patrollers will hear you
from leagues away. Stop. Listen. Attune yourself here. Now, do you hear that
snort? Rothe, at least a mile away."
With not even a mutter, the elder dark elf turns away and slips into the
utter darkness of the Underdark. Unsure he was even following the right path,
because the Kyllothan was quieter than silence, he made his way, to hunt the
quarry of their next meal. The child was tired of rothe, but it was easy prey
to learn on. But to his pleasure, a distraction came to the Kyllothan, the
quite rustle of adamantite chainmail and leathers creaking.
Silently, they stalked the party moving through the Underdark. As they
neared, hand signals were exchanged, before the silent pair ever saw their
prey. Four, three men, from their heavy breathing and harsher foot steps, and
a female. Oh, the luck they had today. As they came into sight of their
ambush, they could see the robes flow about one man, a sure sign of a magi,
and two patrollers. Yet their true game was the priestess bedecked in Lloths'
image.
From nowhere the snare sprang, and the two patrollers were hauled to the
ceiling, left helpless but to watch the massacre ensue upon their charges.
Falling as swiftly from the ceiling as the patrollers were snatched, the
Kyllothan sprang upon the magi with a vicious strike. His spear drove through
mage's head and through his body, and impaled him upon the limestone floor, a
new stalagmite to add to this place.
Reacting swiftly, the priestess lunged with two growing mandibles at the
Kylothan, and with poisonous fangs pierced his shoulder. I was sworn to
watch, but I could not observe my mentor fall in such a manner. I leaped next
from my stalactite, and with a swift strike of my axe beheaded the monster as
it was changing into a large spider. Even despite my victorious effort, the
poison was ran deep and harsh. The Kyllothan was dead.
The new Kyllothan was named in that instant, just as my predecessor, and
their predecessors succeeded each other. Only one Kyllothan haunted the
Underdark, and now, it is me.
Tenets of the Kyllothan.

I never knew the security of the walls of Teth Azaleth nor the sanctity of a
House or Temple therein. I do not remember how I came to the wilds, though I
know it was near the surface, as I remember seeing light as much as darkness.
My life changed when the Kyllothan spotted me, stalking fungoids and
harvesting their spores to make salves. That was when I was destined to
follow in his fate.
He instilled in me a hatred for Dark Elven society more than anything else.
The Females dominated, and through various cut throat means always ensured
servitude and slavery upon anyone born with the wrong genitalia. And no
others sat at the top of their society, other than priests and mages. The
highest priests and most powerful mages had little to fear from the male foot
soldiers, and they enacted their dominance in how ever they so choose.
This was the foundation of becoming the Kyllothan. It is with the same
extreme prejudice that mages, priestesses, and females dark elves in general
must be punished. They must learn to fear to tread a step from beyond their
walls. This required the Kyllothan to be strategic, to be patient, to be
decisive on bringing war to his most loathed rivals.
