Description
Your gaze takes in a well built storm giant, his sea-blue skin
glistening with what could be sweat or sea water. His eyes are a deep
grey, and seem older than the frame he carries. He has a broad forehead
and sharp chin. His ears are floppy and mostly covered by his dark
green slipeery hair. He is very well built, his arms muscular and his legs
sturdy. His garb is modest but adequate and he wields a large sword
that he firmly grips with both hands.
As your gaze narrows in, you notice that...

Laernoch is now growing stronger and a bit wiser in his guild,
but he still feels as though he has much to learn, particularly in contrast
with the Marshall Acvilar, who seems always in control of his emotions. Yet Laernoch
also feels that their is a fire missing, a storm that does not rage within, a squall
that he feels must be present for one to inspire others. It is this that he hopes
to inspire in himself and others, and he is ever searching for that storm to properly
manifest itself in him. He has spoken to his elder, and receive his most highest
honors, which assures Laernoch that there is potential in him, if he has the resolve
to see it through to the end.
With hopes of this, Laernoch continues on.
Paladin Code: The laws of the land.
Added Sat Mar 15 10:28:41 2008 at level 30:
Laernoch has tried to be diligent to be loyal to the tenets of
his faith and to respect the code of his guild. One one point he feels conflicted,
that of battling the enemy within the confines of a city. He understands that
by doing so he may be putting at risk the well being of the innocent citizens,
though he frowns upon the thought of the wicked walking amongst them free to do
as they please. And so Laernoch struggles with whether to remain true
to his guild's code, or act as he believes is necessary and expulge them from the city.
For now, he will try to avoid such confrontations as much as he can, though he has
battled within the city before, and is ready to again if pressed.
The Storms and his beginnings in the Brigade

As Laernoch continues his journey, he feels his prayers
strengthen, his hammer and blade strike swiftly, and his
resolve harden. He has oftentimes returned to the sea of his
youth, seeking the Elder Cloud of his past. All he has found there
are the waves, and the storms swirling above him. He wonders now
if it is not the storm who was the teacher of his youth, and the
Elder but a representation of its will. And so as the storms
strengthen his faith, Laernoch has entered the Holy Brigade of
the Light, and is now a member of the Grey Halls of the Fortress.
He has begun his path there as a squire and he is marvelled at the
stories of ancient warriors of light who have walked similar paths.
Laernoch wonders if he can live up to their legacies, and do the
Maran justic with his deeds.
Clarification of goals and regarding his Faith
Added Fri Mar 7 14:52:39 2008 at level 6:
Laernoch, due to his training does not see himself as a 'Priest', but rather a disciple
of his Elder Cloud. That being said, he draws his faith from Cloud's instilled beliefs, and will
go back to the Sea to Commune with him and renew his resolve and faith in their goals.
The goals of Cloud's Raindrops are simple:
- To strike at the heart of wickedness and evil and to leave it cleansed, or destroyed.
- To never let one's self be corrupted by the wicked, but to always honor and respect every
being, be it friend or foe. Taunting and cockiness has no place in a Raindrop's existence.
- Honor encompasses showing enough respect to your allies as to let them fight their own battles in warfare.
There is strength in solitude. If we fought the battles for other warriors of light who have chosen to take
up arms, we would betray our very oaths as we would weaken our allies senses with easy victories.
- Matters of parity are less important when allies that are unable to properly defend themselves are under
siege. The Raindrops are also not to let one of the light willingly die if he is able to save them.
In such cases they are to see to th survival of the ally.
- Lastly, to always keep in mind that though a Raindrop is but one of many, all of them
are representatives of the greater cause that the Cloud has envisioned for them. Their actions
have repercussions, and they must keep the legacy they are building always in mind.
There is no place for selfishness or personal gain.
Quick Summary!
Added Fri Mar 7 03:57:19 2008 at level 4:
Laernoch grew up in an elite group of storm giants under the tutelage
of a mysterious elder storm giant named 'Cloud'. They worked and trained hard,
preparing for a mission Cloud had envisioned for them. Cloud called his pupils 'Raindrops'
and on a dark night he marked his pupils with an inked mark of a raindrop
on the back of their necks and sent them forth onto Thera to put into action
what he had taught them. The tenets of these raindrop storm giants are
honor, respect and resolve through hardship above all. Laernoch, upon reaching
the shores is unsure if he can live up to the expectations set before him.
He intends to try.
A Raindrop of the Cloud - Part 3
Added Fri Mar 7 03:21:13 2008 at level 3:
One evening, after a long day of sweat mingling in the deep, the storm
giants were again treading among the waves casually discussing amongst each
other. The elder Cloud was notably quiet, distractedly gazing up at the
moonlit sky.
"What's wrong Elder?" Laernoch asked.
Cloud made no move to respond, but continued his gaze upward. The others
followed his gaze now, and notice that what had just a few moments before
been a starlit evening, was now becoming increasingly dark. A few moments
later and the stars were entirely gone.
Laernoch was again the first to speak. "What's going on Cloud?"
Cloud finally spoke in a slow and forboding tone: "Ready or not, we've run
out of time."
Producing a small vial of ink taken from a giant squid, Cloud began to move
about in the darkness, imprinting a small raindrop on the back of each of
his pupil's necks as they all stood frozen in uncertainty.
Cloud again spoke but no longer in a calm and serene tone, but in a wild
and urgent one:
"Go now, under the veil of darkness, and douse the enemy with your fury.
Let the pits of the wicked shine brightly after they have been flooded with
the holy water of the Gods. Each of you etch out your own place in this
world, and let it be known that where you walk, only the redeemed may be in
your presence. ANd though each of you may be but a raindrop, a single
raindrop can quelch the thirst of the innocent, and stifle the desires of
the wicked so that they shall want for nothing but redemption. Go now, GO NOW!"
A wild fury broke up among the small group of giants, tearing across the
vast sea so that even the fish below wondered what was amiss. Cries for
battle spewed out from them among cries for their elder Cloud. One by one
they swam out each in a slightly different direction, heading upon their
own path. Laernoch was among the last to leave, doubling back to look at
the Elder Cloud a last time before beginning the long swim to shore.
Upon reaching the shore, Laernoch looked down at his shoddy wooden sword,
and silently wondered how he could live up to what he was meant to be.
So his journey began...

The elder giant stifled a chuckle, and as the other giants took notice he
responded in a deep and soothing tone:
"Ah, young LAERNOCH, you must remember you are new to us, but perhaps it is
good to remind all of you why I am called Cloud. I am called Cloud because
you, all of you, are my RAIN. We are all of us one cohesive group, yet each
separate entities. When the time comes, and we are all ready for what lies
ahead, all of you will separate from me. Just as the cloud that grows too
full of water must shed its moisture, you shall descend upon Thera and
moisten the ground with what we have dedicated ourselves to: A new way of
living for all. Each of you before you leave here will earn the mark of
the Raindrop. And you must all display an absolute understanding of what
that mark entails.
The raindrop is a great burden, and it the sign of the path not often
taken. It symbolizes everything we have worked on here - respect, loyalty,
resolve and above all honor for yourself and your foe. You must be
confident with who you are, as you will often be tempted by those that
would compromise your faith in me. And tested you shall be, beyond any
physical challenges, you must be stronger in mind than in sword.
That being said, let us get some sleep before tomorrow. It's going to be a
long day"
With that, Learnoch joined his brethren down below. Weeks, months flew by
as Laernoch trained and trained, thinking of nothing but the soft patch of
seaweed to lay his head on at the end of the day.

A Raindrop of the Cloud - Part 1
Added Fri Mar 7 02:56:54 2008 at level 3:
Deep beneath the rippling waves of a body of water on the southwest
corners of Thera, a battle wages. The battle is unlike any other, as
there is no enemy. There is no bloodshed, no hatred, only respect, honor
and sweat mingled with the salt-filled waters. A lot of sweat. It is storm
giants that dare call these unpredictable waters their home, and they are
preparing for something. This you can tell because you rarely ever see this
relatively small group of storm giants ever wasting any time. Their slumber
is structured, their every waking moment part of a strictly determined
regiment that can only be for one reason: They are getting ready.
This preparation involves many things. Hours on end they are honing their
skills, dueling each other with wooden weapons of all shapes and sizes
battering each other until they are bruised, but not defeated. At night,
they gather above the waves to talk of their day's efforts, and reflect
on what they can improve upon the next day. There is one among them that
bears the traits of one far older, and it is he who guides the discussion
with a patient and careful countenance. The topics range from war-tactics
to imagined scenarios to survival methods. Among the discussion one of
the younger storm giants speaks above the quite hum of chatter:
"Elder, why is it that we call you CLOUD?"
