Description
You see a furry creature before you. The fur mostly seems of a dull orange
coloring though with the clothes it is wearing, you can't be sure if other
colored fur appears elsewhere. This felar, as you discern is likely of
the male species, judging by the shape of its face and nose beneath its
intense yellow eyes. It appears roughly 5 feet in height though it is perhaps
difficult to tell when not at full stretch. The ears look alert however, and
also have a fine covering of light fur, though only on the extremities and
doubtful it impairs his hearing at all. As you glance down as its lean figure
you see the extended claws, razor sharp by the looks though mostly clean and
devoid of scraps unlike some of those of his race. The armor he wears appears
to be light and form fitting, and as he moves it is with a subtle grace.
Role
Furios StormShield

The Storm Giants came across the still smoking ruins of the caravan as the
morning sun rose steadily in the sky. The haze from the fires gave the area
a eerie feel almost an introduction to the horror the temporary camping site
gave as the corpses strewn amongst the smouldering wagons came into view.
They had been on patrol just on the outskirts of the Loch's borders to watch
for encroaching banditry and this wasn't the first instance they had found.
Unfortunately they were too late to stop the raid that had occurred and it
looked like once again they would be merely able to clean up after the event.
As the patrol searched the site, looking for clues one of them heard a sharp
cry. As the Giant, Groant StormShield, got to his knees and peered beneath a
broken wagon he saw two small but bright yellow eyes peering back at him. With
care he reached into try and bring out the form, but with a yell he quickly pulled
back his bleeding hand as claws racked it furiously.
But not one to give in, Groant wrapped his hand carefully in a blooded shirt he
found near by and reached in again and pulled out a small hissing form.
The form seemed mostly fur and claws and it took a moment to realise the hissing
creature in his hand was a small felar.
The creature seemed to show no fear though even as the rest of the patrol gathered
around to peer down at the lucky survivor.
Unfortunately the felar was the only one found that day, but Groant who found
Furios as they had now decided to call him, Furious Furball didn't seem appropriate,
adopted the small creature into his family impressed by the little creatures spirit.
Life on the Loch
Added Sat Jun 5 16:52:24 2021 at level 1:
Over the years the StormShields grew to love their adopted son, they never had
children off their own, and though there was much learning required in caring for a
felar they did the best they could. Even if the several attempts at swimming lessons
early on left them with claw marks to this day.
Furios joined the rest of the young Storm Giants in school, and quickly to the
civilized way of speaking.
When Furios was old enough his parents grudgingly let him begin his warrior training
with the other Storm Giants. They didn't worry about his enthusiasm but always
worried about the size and strength difference he had with the other members of his
training class.
One of the first things the students were asked to do was to choose a weapon for
training purposes. Although Furios didn't know it at the time there weren't really
any particularly suited to him. Many axes, maces, swords and polearms were available
but lighter weapons were lacking. So it was that Furios chose a polearm, in part
as it felt like an extension of his claws and would help with the reach difference
with the rest of the class. Groant even created him a lighter version that Furios
would be able to swing better than the usual oversized heavy polearms the giants
used.
To begin with the other members of the class took it easy on Furios in their bouts,
they were worried they would hurt him too badly. But they quickly found the error
of their ways when he would repeatable dodge their blows only to chop down the
polearm on to their knees. Even when he got hit, he was back up in a moment, ready
to continue the fight. After the first few bouts the other class members gave it
their all and Furios was able to hold his own against all but the best.
Amongst the many classes were instruction and stories on matters outside of the
Loch. Such as the other cities, the Empire, the Outlanders and the Fortress. Although
the Loch was well protected by the Watch, their patrols and people still travelled
far and there were not so insular that they did not keep track of what was going on
in the world beyond their borders.
The stories of the Fortress and the Maran who fought from it struck a cord with Furios.
Although he couldn't remember his real parents, his adopted family never hid anything
from him, and he knew of the attack that had killed them. If he could hunt down those
of wicked intent so as to prevent similar horrors happening again, then that surely
that had to be a duty to be sought.
The StormShields always gave encouragement to Furios and in this they were no different.
Many honoured Storm Giants joined the Fortress or hunted wicked outside of the Loch in
their own way. So although they would miss Furios something terribly, when it came time
to say goodbye they helped him pack and with final words of advice and encouragement they
bid farewell to their son, saddened to see him go but fiercely proud of their adopted son.
Larkiio StormShield
Added Sun Jun 6 20:15:15 2021 at level 16:
Furios learnt much in his travels away from the Loch. He visited many places and even
crossed the seas to the distant continents.
One place however was almost disconcerting to him. The village of Blackclaw. Never
had Furios met so many of his kin before and it was an exciting but nerving place to
be. Conscious of the way he would act around so many of his kin, he soon got along
with them well.
However some were rather aghast at his name. In Blackclaw the name Furios had somewhat
negative connotations.
Furios was rather embarrassed by it all, but not so much as his adopted parents were.
Groant especially considering he had named the little furball many years ago. He had
never thought beyond his first instincts and well in the Loch Furios was actually a
fine name.
But together they put their heads together, Groant on his knees to do so of course.
And Furios finally came up with the new name of Larkiio. They did of course consult
with the Blackclaw felar just to be on the safe side and everyone was happy.
So it was that Furios StormShield became Larkiio StormShield. He did hope none of the
Felar of the Fortress had picked up on his old name, now that would have been
embarrassing.
Beyond the Loch

Larkiio, who was still get used to his new name, travelled far and wide. Through the swamps
of Ysigrath, the desert sands on the southern continent and the eastern mountains defended
by the noble Storms. His travels weren't without mishap by any means but as with all things
what didn't permanently kill him only made him stronger.
He even searched beneath the waves, although with that incident it likely warned him off for
some time to come.
And all that time he hunted for those of a wicked soul. It was difficult at times, they seemed
most elusive. But eventually he began to track them down and his skills were tested in battle.
By the time Larkiio defeated his first foe he was already well established in his guild, his
training although he felt was rigorous on the Loch, was nothing compared to the reality he now
faced. If once he had thought himself skilled in the warrior arts he knew now that to be a mere
fiction.
Of the famed Fortress, Larkiio saw little though he was blessed with words from the Cardinal from
time to time, and that always boosted his spirits. And the honored Captain of the Brigade took time
to speak with Larkiio where they talked about their pasts. It seems he was not the only one to lose
his family at a young age. Unfortunately a theme far too common in the lands.
Speaking to the Captain though opened his eyes further to the wickedness that was abound, and
afterwards he set out on the hunt with renewed strength and purpose.
Larkiio the Squire
Added Sat Jun 26 18:16:48 2021 at level 40:
For near on 10 years Larkiio had been pledged to the Fortress, but all that mattered not as he bowed
to the Maran Tara'bal as a squire for the first time. The moment was spoiled somewhat by the two orcs
and their lackeys turning up and trying to bash Larkiio down. But after making one of the beasts flee
he managed to retreat into the Fort to safety. Never had walls felt so welcoming, Larkiio had found
his new home.
The members of the Fortress he knew would become his family, although he was a little bit paranoid
about turning up to the Fortress after being out in the rain or a short dive since Arabrab had mentioned
the smell of wet fur around the Fort.
As Larkiio read through the sacred Fortress texts, careful not to get the blood from his fur onto the pages
he knew his life as a squire had truly begun.
