Description
The most interesting thing about the strangely glowing figure is that
she seems as if a regular human female, of average height, perhaps five
feet and seven inches tall, of average enough weight, about hundred
and twenty pounds by your estimate, yet it cannot be helped
that a somewhat bright glow serenes out from between the armor pieces.
Even the hair, while at the same time almost ordinarily black,
is still shining and glowing that same hue of silvery light.
Her silver eyes, then, don't look exactly striking against the
backdrop of the rest of her somewhat well-sculpted body.
The movements seem to be precise and practiced, as if she
were a warrior, yet there is a hint of something else at play,
and you cannot be quite sure what it is that makes
her seem as she's ready for battle despite the obvious youth.
Role
The Light
Added Fri Oct 3 22:18:09 2014 at level 1:
First there was the Light. That's all Leata has for a first-ever memory.
No parents, no siblings, no ideas on where she was born and when,
just the all-encompassing Light that seemed both to be her and streaming
outwards, and not exactly outwards, but somewhere, out of reach.
She remembers trying to catch it, to contain it, and a feeling of loss
intermixed with joy that the Light is Her and She is Light still.
A large temple was where she found herself. Not that she knew the word then,
ten years ago by now, but a temple nonetheless, with an empty
apprehensive circle around her, with a crowd of people forming that
circle watching her with some strange intensity and what can best be
described as hope. She could not describe it at the time, of course,
for the sound of words was not known to her, only the Light.
Words still did not mean much, sounding hollow, while only the Light
shone true and was easily relatable and understandable.
Someone came by (a priest, she later learned) and lead her within the temple,
the one in Hamsah Mutazz (as she would know in time) and started to produce
strange sounds with his tongue and mouth in concert. Leata could not
comprehend, and still shaken with the loss of Light, wanted to simply
lie down and sleep, sleep deeply, and still engrossed in the Light completely.
She did not know to call it sleep, of course. Yet Leata managed to perform
that nonetheless. Words do not have as much power as actions and Light.
Later, other feelings strangely emerged. The concept of food and drink
was introduced into her universe. The difference between heat and cold.
The realization that there is Leata, a being of Light and other beings
who do not know and never felt Light. Moreover, those who seek to
extinguish the Light and who seemingly surround the city from north and south.
Later, much later. But then it was just Light and a feeling of a loss.
Training in Light and Combat
Added Sat Oct 4 20:56:25 2014 at level 10:
As Leata started to feel her way around the world that was not Light,
her guides have been the temple priests, and one in particular, who
has taught her to pray for blessings for herself and others in need.
He has also taught Leata to hold a shield and a weapon and slowly,
oh so slowly, the dance and flow of Combat. The most important lesson
and the one most difficult to master was one of breathing, which made it
possible and quite useful to weave the quick prayers to the Light in
between the exchange of blows or during ducking under a shield.
Embarking on the path of a Shaman, she was, one for the Light, as
Leata is a creature of the Light and she knows the Light and the Light
knows her. Blessed her radiance to pinpoint those who are in need of smiting,
a quite unusual trait that she was seemingly born or infused with.
And while understanding the order of words in a prayer quite quickly,
she still finds it somewhat difficult to communicate in the common
tongue, as often the words are inadequate to express her full specter
of emotions, and not as clear as internal prayers where she is one with the Light.
Never the matter, not a Mistress of the Court would her position be.
The tenets of Purity
Added Wed Oct 15 20:38:05 2014 at level 22:
Baerinika, with a Light-filled spear that was a beauty to behold,
has taken kindness to Leata and lent her a portion of Godly power.
The Light within is rekindled and even words come easier to Leata,
albeit still a challenge and a constant struggle.
As the Goddess of Purity, Baerinika has asked to formulate how Leata can live to be Pure.
The first tenet of Purity is that Leata will not fight or kill for trinkets or
for sport, but rather only combat those of the darkness to purify Thera.
She will not be distracted by a pursuit of the shinies as the Light provides
all the shine Leata cares about. If attacked, however, Leata will defend herself.
But not with zeal and not in revenge for a previous attack.
The second tenet of Purity is to never use anything associated with evil:
No things that bear a stench of the dark, no weapons that defile or hum with infernal
power, and no use of the demonfire supplication that is taught by her guild.
(It would be wildly inappropriate to call on Baerinika for Demonfire)
The third tenet of Purity is to strive to be gracious in victory and defeat.
Purity in action, spirit and words would be the ideal goal.
That includes not overly taking from a fallen foe, not taking things
from a foe that someone else defeated, not gloating in victory, nor
complaining overly in defeat. If badmouthed, not to respond in kind, but
try to diffuse the situation or choose not to respond if not possible.
Treat others as Leata would want to be treated, in summary.
The wanted flags and laws
Added Wed Dec 10 15:54:05 2014 at level 51:
Laws of men should be just, not arbitrary like they are.
Leata has always observed the laws for the simple reason that she did not
wish to bring any harm to the guards of the Light. Unfortunately, there
were two occasions when a great injustice has been served to her.
Once, she tried to defend the tribunal from an orc raid, coming in and striking
the orc that was resting beyond the Captain who was already dead.
Strangely enough, the tribunals saw it as an affront to their home.
Another time, just as Leata recalled home to Hamsah, Khalmarnasa came at the
temple altar to make Leata strike her, knowing that Leata could not
resist the urge with the flaming eyes. That was an attack on Leata, not
the other way around, but no one sees it that way, of course.
It's very unfortunate to be wanted for the crimes you never committed,
much more unfortunate to have to evade the guards of Light, and also
rather unfortunate that the true criminals escape unscathed all the time.
Leata will continue to try to avoid breaking the laws despite this, of course.
The Battalion and squire training
Added Tue Jan 13 20:05:43 2015 at level 51:
Leata was asked as to what can provide inspiration for the troops and came
up with an idea for squire training within the Halls of the Maran.
She will ask any squire she sees to participate, and perhaps for other Maran to
consider doing so as well. For now, the old armor in the halls serve as
the mannequins to practice against. Perhaps something more suitable can be arranged later.
