Description
A little over six foot tall and slender this elf's skin is tanned barely
visible freckles reveal themselves on his shoulders and across the bridge of
his nose. Long tangles of sun-bleached brown hair hang down over his
shoulders. His features are true to his race, angular, pronounced, and
elegant. His eyes do stand out a bit, they are a stark emerald green giving
them an appearance like polished gems. While his frame is not imposing, his
shoulders are square and his muscle is lean and well defined. He does not
have the appearance or aroma of someone who bathes regularly. Dirt and grime
seem embedded in everything from his fingernails to his clothes.
Role
The Tools Acquired
Added Mon Nov 17 15:00:48 2008 at level 51:
First the Wilds and the Chaos and now this. The glimpse he was granted at
the hunting instincts of an Ancient was overwhelming. The feeling of mastery
over that gift is almost too much. He sees what no other mortal does and his
senses and hunting guile are keener than he never believed possible. The
Winds flow through him and propel him towards his prey. He now has the tools
to see the Dream out, to perhaps even wake the Ancients from their slumber,
to be the primal howl on the winds that rouses Them.
Living with Wild Chaos

It started when he was a child as little more than a whisper he only noticed
in absolute stillness. Over the years the volume grew, ever so slowly so
that he barely noticed. It is so loud now it feels like it must be rattling
his teeth lose. It never ceases. An erratic thrumming that pulses from his
toes up to the hair on his head. It pushed him to the brink of insanity and
perhaps he did slip over, he certainly feels fractured. He also feels right.
feels like he is connected to every thing from a tadpole in a puddle in
Ysigrath to the deepest heart of the Abyss. He has been touched, blessed,
embraced by not only the Wilds but also by Chaos. As much as a mortal can
short of leaving them a useless heap drooling and playing in their own feces.

concerns, only living and changing and when that is done, dying and
continuing to change and so on and so on.
Concentrated ignorance
Added Sun Nov 9 03:25:44 2008 at level 51:
Lierieng joined the Outlanders some time ago. He knew few of them at the
time and even less now. He wakes with less frequency than many, and often
with the disposition of a bear disturbed mid hibernation. He has earned
access to the most powerful of druidic secrets, he bares the mark of the imp,
and chaos flows wildly and powerfully through him when he communes with
nature. Truth be told, he couldn't be happier. Except for the god damned
gnomes everywhere. Every time he opens his eyes and returns from the Dream,
it seems like there are more of them. Insidious vermin that they are.
He focuses on these things and his constant discovery of the wilds and what
they can teach. Anything to keep his mind from wandering to those relentless
questions. Where did I come from? Who made me? Who abandoned me? What
happened to them? Even if it feels like the not knowing is eating his soul
not unlike a nest of termites in a felled tree.
Initial wanderings
Added Sat Sep 6 17:26:20 2008 at level 22:
As soon as was allowed, he joined the druid's guild. He set out for the
world outside of the Emerald forest to find his way and to find the power
that would allow him to channel nature. Lyristeon caught his attention so he
set on catching the imp's attention. Come to find out, it was not all that
difficult to get the initial glimpse of communal power, all it took was a
short conversation about needs and lice and Lierieng had it.
It was difficult at first, to protect himself. As the months passed however,
he began to get a better handle on what was coursing through him and he even
began to learn to use his power to hunt those he considered a threat to his
beloved wilderness. The taste he had been granted was all well and good,
but if he were going to continue, he would have to overcome the wall he had
run into in his druidic training to harness the greater powers those other
druids wielded. That day would come, he had no doubt.
Lierieng as a child in a nutshell
Added Mon Sep 1 11:08:51 2008 at level 1:
The druids and rangers of Emerald forest did not know what do with Lierieng
as a child. Once he was able to walk it was all they manage to keep him
within the relatively safe boundaries of the forest. He was restless,
reckless, and had a stubborn streak that would make a salty dwarf blanch.
Before he reached adolescence they just began making a habit of healing him
with prayers and herbs if he showed up with even the slightest bruise, the
child would not complain if he had a broken bone so they had no way of
knowing when he was hurt. For his own safety, they did not tell him of his
mother. The less that knew the truth the better. He had however earned the
nickname of Firebreak. He was up on the northern ridge of the forest,
watching some battle or another that had spilled out from Galadon. A fire
had erupted and was blazing its way straight for his home. He felt an
immense rage at the thought of the devastation to the wilds and cried out
powerfully for the strength to stop the unnatural blaze. His plea was
answered as strongly and he caused an earthquake so powerful it rent a divide
in the earth that nearly spanned the forest.
He had succeeded in stopping the fire, he had also succeeded in breaking both
of his own legs in the commotion, and some of the druids were worried he
might have created a new fault line. It took years for the earth to settle
back to normal. Lierieng was grinning for days afterward regardless of his
broken legs, he had been touched.

As Fhrena lay dying, it was a race to see if she would die from blood loss or
the toxin first, she cradled her newborn son in her one good arm, looked into
his bright green eyes that matched her own, and kissed his forehead before
laying him down in the hollow near her. She never took her eyes off the
child, but she called out to the magical forest folk that were near and asked
them to give him a fighting chance. She then pressed the palm of her hand
flat against the inside of the tree above her son and a soft green glow
enveloped her hand and as her arm fell there was a single word in the wood,
Lierieng, then she was still
They did as they were asked. They wrapped the baby in thick blankets of moss
and brought a bleating new mother herself to come and serve as a temporary
stand in nurse maid. A short while later a couple of the rangers of the
forest came by to investigate. One took the baby and set out for the druids
gathering place while the other examined the scene before her. The
investigating ranger took note of the dart that was still in the blackened
arm of the priestess. She carefully removed the dart, a wood-elf herself,
and upon examination of the capsule within it, she could smell the iron.
There was still a drop inside, some kind of liquid iron extract. She
shuddered when she thought of the functionality of the lethal projectile.
There was nothing left of her attacker but blood, ashes, and briars. The
dryads filled her in on the details of the birth. Word spread of Fhrena's
death and not a soul mentioned the child. Let her enemies think it had died
with her.
The love of a mother
Added Mon Sep 1 11:03:48 2008 at level 1:
The pain was excruciating. Unlike anything she had ever known. If she had
not been pregnant she probably would have been paralyzed by the pain alone
and murdered in short order. However, the protective instincts of a mother
when her child is threatened is as dangerous as any weapon ever forged.
Fhrena was a no novice to battle, and without thinking about it, she knew
which direction the attack had come from. Before she turned around, an
unruly tangling wall of briars grew to block the narrow path. A moment later
she heard the grunt of surprised pain from the man who had apparently
presumed her to be down and out already and as she turned thousands of tiny
thorns sprayed from the surrounding foliage shredding the flesh of the man
before her. Without pausing to see if he was alive or dead already, a hasty
silent prayer focused the light of the sun into a beam so terribly bright the
man was turned to ash on the spot. All of that happened in a matter of
seconds and already her fingers were turning black and the flesh moving up
her injured arm was boiling. The herbs she quickly gathered and ingested
only slowed whatever the toxin was. She had no chance of making it to the
meeting place of the druids and this poison was beyond her ability to cure.
She had finally come to the end of her trail, but Fhrena would be damned if
her unborn child would die with her.
She crawled into a nearby tree hollow and as she drew her skinning knife, she
called out to the protectors of the Emerald forest. Dryads and brownies
gathered near, horrified by what was happening. Fhrena took her knife in her
good hand and made a careful but quick incision across her own stomach. The
blackening in her wounded arm had almost reached her shoulder now. She
dropped the knife and reached into her bulging stomach and drew out her child
by the foot, wasting no time she bit the umbilical cord severing the physical
link to her body with the baby.
Cat and Mouse
Added Mon Sep 1 10:59:20 2008 at level 1:
Fhrena was a fierce woman, as passionate about the wilderness as she was
about fighting. She was a druid of the highest order. A nomadic wanderer of
the wilds that answered to no one and aggressively protected the wilds and
the natural order.
Which is how she found herself in her present predicament. She had been on
the move for days, covering ground as cautiously and quickly as she could.
There was an assassin on her trail, why he was there made little difference,
it could be any number of things. She had made a great many enemies over the
years and this was not the first time someone had been sent after her, this
was however the different because this one was good, very good. She only
knew he was there because an ent had informed her someone was on her trail
and they could not track him. None of the animals she sent to spy on her
back trail ever came returned.
Whoever had sent this assassin must have heard about her condition and
thought it the most opportune moment to try and be rid of her. Some months
back one of the random men she had seduced had managed to impregnate her and
she was due any day now. The added stress was making it difficult to stave
off the impending birth and she only managed it by a steady regimen of
specific herbs while she traveled.
The same thought kept coming back to her again and again. All she had to do
was wait for him to make a mistake, give her one shot at him, and she would
end this little game.
She approached the Emerald Forest and had thought to make camp in the near by
gathering place of her guild for sanctuary where she could possibly give
birth, rest, then set out to turn the hunter into the hunted. The assassin
was apparently predicting this same set of events as well, because that is
when the dirt struck Fhrena in the right wrist.
