Description

A carefully-cropped beard outlines the striking jawline of the handsome man before you. While he appears no older than thirty years of age, there is a timelessness and perfection apparent in all of his features that only immortality can bestow. His pale, white skin contrasts with the black of his hair and dark brown of the eyes hidden beneath his furrowed brow. A tight-fitting shirt of gray embroidered with the Scales of Justice leaves little doubt that a muscular torso lies underneath. A long, flowing cloak of deep black trimmed with emerald green drapes over an open coat of fine, gray wool that does little to hide his athletic form. Sleek, black pants of the same fine wool end to cover the top of a pair of finely-cobbled boots. Attached to a curious belt forged from various keys, a delicate silver chain connects to the pocketwatch held in one gloved hand. The mirrored inside of the cover reflects upon the multitude of arcane runes and measures within. Held in his other hand, a small silver pen bears an unequivocally magical glow. Seeing you, he frowns slightly and glances down at his pocketwatch. Looking up, an almost-inaudible sigh accompanies the impatient tapping of his pen on his left wrist. As he focuses his attention on something else, it is clear that this is a man that has spent his entire life measuring the mistakes of others.

Role

Update 1

Added Tue Sep 19 20:50:55 2006 at level 42:
The unfounded self-aggrandizing optimism of his youth has transformed into a
paranoid quest to maintain his status while at the same time making sure
everyone is aware of his greatness. For him, having the Spire recognized as
an awesome organization will reflect well upon himself because it is only
natural that people will realize he is the reason it is awesome.

He feels that his position in the Spire is a sign of his magnificence.
Kiamae (the Provost) had, in his opinion, been looking for every opportunity
to get rid of him. However, even though their motivations for service were
quite opposite, Dalteric had no choice but to continue recognizing his
greatness and make him Provincial and eventually Justiciar.

While he despises Kiamae and is quite suspicious of Spenner's supposed
friendship with him, he feels that for now he can effectively govern the
Spire as the Justiciar-Provost with or without Kiamae alive. He is quite
quick to act insubordinate to Kiamae and (while he does this to everyone) is
especially critical of everything she does.

He hates Grurk, his followers, and Imperials for several reasons. For
necessary reasons he is not so glib with this information, particularly about
disliking the Imperials. Now, he finds his strong desire to rank stymied by
the fact that Imperials are often his only
possible companions.

Above all, he considers an individual's writing skills the most efficient way
to measure their intelligence and worth. While he considers himself
exceptional at everything "that matters" he takes excruciating pains to make
sure his writing is superb. He has many mental guidelines governing
everything, including what determines how he signs his name.

**I moved and have a terrible internet connection. I'm having a hard time
correcting the situation and for now am explaining my absence and repeated
lag/linkdrops as a curse put upon me by the barons of chaos that mimics
neurological disruption.**

Update 2

Added Fri Oct 20 18:12:46 2006 at level 51:
He enjoys seeing others suffer, of course, but there is something exquisite
about knowing that someone, particularly a criminal, is suffering wholly as a
result of their own actions. To this end, he is a stickler for adhering to
what is explicitly written in the Laws and carefully publishes scrolls
detaling policy for other Magistrates. He is quick to point out others'
failures due to inability to read and reason and is eager to display his
"superior" capacities.

His distate for people that he cannot trust conflicts with wanting to have
fabulous, interesting characters surrounding and interested in him. Few
things are more tedious to him than a wizard that says "indeed/amusing," a
grunting savage, or the hackneyed, saccharine poison of the Fort and Inn.
Such insipid adventurers are best ignored when given the alternative of
someone that breaks the molds.

Other errata: Quite proud of negotiating a "superior" agreement to end the
Village war. Interested in the religion of Daevryn but his secret worry that
he will not measure up keeps him from pursuing it more. (After all,
insecurity can be thought of as the base if Vanity.) Hamsah Mu'tazz is his
favorite city. Announced (though understated) desire for Captain Sarkhon of
Thar-Acacia. Wishes to construct a mosaic detailing the life of Grurk in the
Spire with Inyel.

Synopsis

Added Sat Jul 1 22:24:01 2006 at level 30:
What's there not to love about an arrogant transmuter that manages to blame
everyone else for his mistakes and hold grudges?

His family history, like everything about him, will be altered and lied about
when it is beneficial.

Truthfully, his father was a modest and generous merchant. Linolaques, not
content with the meager growth of the business and sure of his eventual rise
to fame, left to make a name for himself.

He has applied to become a Magistrate because he sees it as the easiest route
to make a name for himself, and because he is confident he will be far better
at killing criminals and solving crimes than others.
