Description

Cruelty and ambition have always gone hand in hand in the dark elven culture, before you stands a striking specimen of that foul mix.Every bit as cruel as he is ambitious this dark-elf looks around with wanton contempt in his eyes. As you continue to gaze into those cold blue orbs that gleam with intelligence and purpose you realize the one thing they are missing is empathy. Is there even a word in the darkelven tongue for such a notion? For the most part the dark elf is clothed in armor fitting his arcane heritage. A pair of sorcerers robes emblazoned with an arachnid form that seems to move and shimmer on its own accord. You would have sworn it was some manner of an illusion, atleast until you noticed a drop of venom drip from the arachnid form on the robes and land near your feet. His brilliant white hair cascades down his shoulders, held away from his eyes by a spider marked head band. The dark elf leans heavily on the wooden walking staff, slightly favoring his right leg as he walks. As you continue to watch the dark mage you slowly begin to realize that..

Life in the yellow light

Lessons that he learned during his time in Vez-neshar have served him well in
the years since.  Life on the surface is not so different after all it seems.
the cruel yellow thing in the sky, that has been the bane of so many of
his kind, seems to bother him little,  thanks to the dimensional shifts that
the elder son has quickly gained mastery over.
Strife and chaos that are bred into every child born in Vez-neshar are very
much alive and well on the surface.  The only reason difference is that on
the surface there are still factions that hope to contain it, in their own
unique ways.  Each faction using a separate set of moral standards and
beliefs,  trying to obtain a utopia seen only through their own eyes.
Lacking any semblance of a moral compass, it is not really surprising that
the elder son gravitated towards the ranks of the Scions of Eternal night.
His interest in political strife is limited to purely selfish designs,
Llorenz cares little about the pact that the scions outwardly seek to serve.
It is the research and the understanding of arts clearly forbidden by all
other institutions that binds him to the chasm.The promise of eternal power
ofcourse is a reward that he does not over look.
The constellations continue to fade in and out, not a one tugging at his soul
in any particular fashion.  Something the elder son hopes will change in the
centuries to come.

His belief system

Llorenz is very cautious around other dark elves, partly because on the
surface everyone has a history that is not known to him.  Female darkelves in
particular the renegade son despises more than any other.  As far as Llorenz
in concerned  it is better to err on the side of caution and usher them into
the afterlife.  The renegade is ever cautious, Llorenz will not hesitate to
kill if he feels threatened in any way.Not to say that Llorenz does not
kill for sport or personal gain.  Ever the envious sort he will often kill
just to take something away from his prey, as long as it has value to them
the dark-elf desires it.   No matter what the perceived value is, if he has
to pry it from their cold dying hands all the better.  Spiteful and
vindictive he will always seek to sow seeds of distrust and animosity
whenever he comes across bonds of kinship and comradery.

Departure

Betrayal begets betrayal.  The steps the elder son took to ensure his
survival ensured he would never again step foot in Vez-Neshar.  A war had
been waged, an archmage assassinated, someone had to pay for it after all,
drow justice demanded it.  His only means of escape was to deliver the true
culprit to the first house.  It was not a hard decision for Llorenz, it was a
fitting end to his wretched mother and her schemes.  Departure from
Vez-Neshar was quick and without incident.  The renegade son looked back at
the  city,  with a baleful look in his eyes.

Life on the surface was not was what Llorenz expected it to be,everything
came too easily to these surface dwellers.  Food, shelter, purpose all was
handed to these undeserving wretches.   One could suppose that more than
anything else the renegade son envied them.  How far might he have come if
everything had been handed to him like it was to them?  Although he could
always just take it from them could he not?

The renegade son

With the death of the Archmage, the war between the houses was now afoot, a
war the elder son would watch from the distance with detached indifference.
Win or lose the elder son would survive with or without house IkOngkar.
Little he cared as to how house IkOngkar fared in the ongoing war, he even
took some pleasure in the news that house IkOngkar might not survive this
play for the seat.  It did not even occur to him that faced with annihilation
of her house, his Matron, his Mother&  would not hesitate to serve him up to
the executioners web.  Named a renegade by his own family, and his actions
condemned by the very woman that forced him to take them.. Llorenz found
himself at odds with everything in his existence.  Time had come for the
elder son to leave Vezneshar but where would he go?  More importantly how
would he get  out of this accursed city?

The puppet son

Unfortunately for him and his house this also set into motion a cataclysm of
events that would in the end destroy house IkOngkar and turn the elder son
into a renegade.  It was in part his field of study that set him apart from
most other adepts at Sorcere.  The culture of Vezneshar revolved so much
around death that almost all magical studies undertaken by its denizens
involved either causing it, (invocation magics) or manipulating it
(necromantic magics).  The elder son was one of the rare few that chose
alteration magics as his area of study.In the end it was the study of
alteration that led to the downfall of house IkOnkgar.

Wretched women and their constant meddling, Llorenz would have been content
studying under the Master of Sorcere, but such goals would not suit Matron
Sithwe.For his house to make a move against the first, it was necessary to
cut off arcane support for the first before any direct attack took place.
Llorenz was given the task with a grim reminder that should he fail his
younger brother was eager and willing to done the mantle of elder son.  That
particular task Llorenz carried out with clockwork precision.

The Elder son

Cruelty and ambition have always gone hand in hand in the dark elven cities
of the Underdark.  One such tale is that of Llorenz IkOngkar, the eldest
son to a matron of a powerful house in the city of Vezneshar.  From early
childhood the elder son was slated to join the sorcere, as such his training
was constant and punishment for dereliction from said training severe.  He
was a male after all and at the hands of his sisters he was driven to
excellence at the threat of torture that made death seem like a sweet dream.
Dark ambition tempered with cruelty and all around general  (for the lack of
a better word) darkelfyness helped propel Llorenz to a position of influence
within the sorcere. A position, the gaining of which, he would later come to
regret.
