Description
A slender male wiith auburn hair and piercing yellow eyes is cowled in a
cloak here. Arching eyebrows speak of mystery, and the cloak wrapped
about him seems to be woven from the forest itself. A thin nose comes to
a point below his eyes. Pursed lips of a rose hue, show a contemplative
nature. The rest of his clothing seems to be made mostly from natural
materials, leather, hides, branches and twigs. Spatters of mud upon his
boots show his indifferance to Thera's network of roads. In one hand a
hide buckler, and in the other a slender sword made of polished silver.
Role
Lorente Lydwich - Introduction
Added Fri Feb 7 13:44:54 2020 at level 11:
Son of Davius Lydwich, a world renowned barovian vampire slayer - made
famous across the eastern continent for his exploits. Lorente Lydwich is
a troubled man. His youth spent in prayer with his father, and instilled
with an innate sense of distaste for the undead through his upbringing.
He watched night after night as his father would come home drenched in
the blood of vampires after a successful hunt. He wasn't allowed to join
his father, even in his formative years, but he was expected to pray
vigilantly against the darkness night after night.
His fathers exploits started out by merit of virtue, and he was
exceptionally good at what he did as far as Lorente could tell. His
father often told him stories of an ancient weapon that was capable of
ending undeath forever. As far as Lorente could tell, these were merely
legends - but his father spoke of it, and searched for it with such
passion that perhaps there was some truth to the tale.
Eventually a woman storyteller, and her half-drow son met Davius, and
began to regale his famous exploits across Thera, enticing his father to
a life of wealth and fame. It was not long before Davius spent more time
entertaining curious patrons at the Inn, and buried in alcohol - than he
did slaying vampires in Barovia. As time went on, Lorente's father
slipped further and further into alcoholism and whoring, and his days of
vampire slaying were all but legend. One morning Lorente awoke to find
his father had not returned home - and his mother Soriena Lydwich, had
died when he was young according to his father. Perplexed, Lorente set
out to Hamsah Mu'tazz to search for his father at tha Inn. When he
arrived, he discovered from tha guards that his father was found dead.
The Tribunal had no leads, and the case was cold - was it suicide,
murder?
This crushed Lorente - and he vowed to find out what had happened to his
father that night. He armed himself with his fathers silver sword, and
set out to become a destroyer of the undead himself. He hated the
Tribunal, for failing to solve - what in his mind, was clearly a crime.
He lost all respect for the rule of law, and knew that matters must be
taken into his own hands.
He left the trappings of wealth, and city life behind and became an
ascetic hermit, living in a small cave in the forest of Prosimy. He
learned to live off the land, and be self sufficient, and developed a
fondness for the natural world. He honed his skills in Barovia against
the undead, just as his father had - and decided he would seek out the
refuge to find others who sought to destroy the unnatural.

He vowed that one day he would find the storyteller, and her son - and
make them pay for corrupting his father and ultimately leading him to his
demise. He also vowed that if there were truth to the legend of the
ancient weapon, he would find the sword that ends undeath, and wield it
against the forces of darkness.
Making friends.

We met a young bard, Imogrezio - who has confessed to being the half-drow
son of the woman who ruined our father's life. It turns out his mother
passed away when he was very young as well, and in a way we felt sorry
for him. Then he sung us a tale of his glorious heroism, in the saving
of a young druid - Idmund. Full of what we can only assume are the same
kind of embelishments his mother sung of our father's exploits. It made
our stomach turn. We told him of the damage that such epic songs and
stories can do to the lives of the families involved, and he claimed to
only sing of his own adventures. We don't trust him, or like him much -
despite a WANT to like him..
We pledged to the Refuge to join the branch of the Wardens, but as of yet
haven't heard anything. Although we met several of the tree, and have a
good repoir going. We also met Idmund's brother, Admund. He is very
interesting, and we are curious to meet his brother Idmund too. It seems
we might share some kind of hatred for the undead. At the very least, we
may become fast friends - as they too are seeking the refuge.
We have yet to speak with Lord Ergush, about becoming his student. But
we continue to visit the copse with his altar, hoping he will see to
teach us.
We've talked with a few about the ancient weapon we are seeking, but
noone seems to have any leads yet.
