Description
Though small by elf standards, the aging elf before you
can seem larger than life. There are times when he carries
himself with such confidence and showmanship that it is
difficult to remember he is such a smaller version of his
fae race. His bone structure is a bit more narrow than that
of his kin. His fingers are long and slender, his hands appear
slightly calloused and a bit wrinkled. While he is clearly
carrying the classic features of eternal youth inherent to
those of the elvish race, his is notably a bit more advanced
in years judging by the crow's footed wrinkles around his eyes
and other small details denoting his age. His loosely bound hair
is a bright shade of nearly shimmering silver in color and is
kept in a loose ponytail that hangs freely down his back.
He seems to make up his lack of size in his speed and
swiftness, regardless of his age. His haunting silver eyes
seem to glow with a soft shimmer of light of their own as
they try to take in the whole world at once. His face is
narrow and classically heart shaped. His smile is bright and
slightly impish when he is happy, though any observing him for
any length of time would note a consistent pattern of extreme
emotion.
As his shirt shifts you notice a brightly glowing silver spyglass
tattooed over his collarbone. The glass portion of the spyglass
oddly shows your reflection as a mirror would, though is clearly
not made of glass. He is dressed in clothes that seem to be
tailored to a performer or acrobat, though a wide assortment of
items that appear to have been haphazardly thrown together also
make up his day to day attire. Various pens can be seen poking
out of a belt around his waist. A pad of paper with scribbles
and more crossed out lines of words than actual written phrases
can be noticed as well upon further inspection.
Role
Fish Out of Water

Lyeeth had always felt out of place. It wasn't that anything was WRONG with him,
per say, but he did not fit in with his older brothers or his father. He was a
scrawny slip of an elven boy, lacking the more sturdy framework and muscles of
the rest of his family. And of course the family's pride and occupation was tied
up in physical activities and scouting for the protection of the vale.
Lyeeth started his failures at an early age when it came time to assume the
responsibilities of the protection of the vale. When he was supposed to be still
and focused, he was often caught up in whimsical activities like observing
butterflies and flowers, investigating bugs and wildlife, being a curious child
in general. This would often cause arguments among his family as a whole because
he just didn't FIT. He wasn't strong, he wasn't focused, he was going to get
someone killed.
The decision was made to send him to Darsylon. He could be watched over better
there and have a greater opportunity to excel in...whatever it was he would be
doing. As it turned out, he was most interested in elaborating on his
fascination of nature. He would often sit and observe the mage students go about
their miraculous transformations. He wasn't quite old enough to join the guild
himself, but he just KNEW he would make the finest shapeshifter. He would prove
to his family that he could contribute and bring value to the world.
Very Bad Ideas
Added Sat Jan 14 18:22:26 2023 at level 1:
He was still years away from being accepted into the guild, but he often was
allowed to run errands and do various minor tasks for it. He loved spending time
in the canopy above Darsylon and just watching. Birds, clouds, stars, the moon,
the sun, and the comings and goings of various parties to the city.
He made a fateful decision while watching, one day. A small caravan had settled
at the northern pass into the city and was being challenged by the elite
guardsman. It was a curious gathering. Large cages that housed great beasts
rested upon the middle storage wagon, it was HUGE. Lyeeth desperately wanted to
investigate this caravan further, but he knew he was not allowed to leave the
city. Great dangers lurked to the north, unless one stayed on the path. But even
then he wasn't allowed to leave. So he made a terrible choice. While the guards
were engaging the angry mustached human and denying him entrance, Lyeeth quickly
snuck out of the city unnoticed.
The wagons had turned around and a camp was being set miles away from Darsylon
in the northern woods. A small monkey had jumped in front of the path Lyeeth was
taking to get a closer look at the wagon of animals. He was most interested in
the creature, as he had never seen a monkey before. It had a small necklace with
a faintly glowing gem hanging from it. From nowhere the monkey started shrieking
loudly, a terrible screech that notified everyone nearby something was amiss.
The fat mustached man quickly waddle-ran over to see what the ruckus was all
about. Lyeeth had a queasy feeling and his instincts told him to run away from
this man, but he was MOST curious. The man's face went from one of anger and
violence to jolly and welcoming in an instant. He asked Lyeeth his name, and if
he was by himself. Lyeeth of course has no good sense and didn't recognize any
sort of danger of being alone. He allowed Lyeeth to have supper with him by the
fire. There were many interesting members of his team unloading the wagons, most
had on necklaces like the monkey. If Lyeeth had been paying attention he would
have noticed the cages of the animals were empty.
Dinner started and the fat man, Sir Horace Beastmaster of Horace's Magical
Beasts, got to know Lyeeth very well. He learned very quickly that Lyeeth was
prone to making impulsive decisions, that his family lived nowhere nearby, that
he often was gone from his home for days at a time, and most importantly that
nobody would even begin looking for him for days. Horace asked all about Lyeeths
talents with shapeshifting, if he had had any training in the guild yet, and
most importantly, did he want Horace to teach him how to become a shapeshifter
of renown?
The First Shapeshift
Added Sat Jan 14 18:24:36 2023 at level 1:
Horace was a bit of a wizard himself, though more of a charlatan that had one
very fancy trick. Enchantment magic via a talisman that he carried with him at
all times. A walking stick shaped like a giant sea serpent with rubies for eyes
that glowed like embers at all times.
Horace explained to Lyeeth that he could grant him powerful magic. Lyeeth was
skeptical and just wanted to see all the animals before going home. As Lyeeth
continued to eat and talk he began to get very sleepy. Far too late did he
realize something was happening, that there were no animals in the cages, and
that through the fog of whatever he had been drugged with he was getting a ruby
necklace put on his neck. He then began to dream.
In his dream his spirit was a mote of light, zipping quickly all around the
world. He dreamed of so many fantastic creatures. Gibbons, Pachyderms, Zebras,
Fish, Felines, Birds. In each corner of the world he visited animals in their
habitat very quickly. Quick enough for his orb to touch near them only to zip
away. Until he came upon an unfamiliar jungle and floated through it's canopy.
He came to rest in front of a very magnificent creature. It was a small dragon.
It was blue and it had golden eyes filled with mysticism and intelligence. It
was as small as a heron. It had a long and flexible tail and tiny razor sharp
teeth. It had little horns and an expressive reptilian face. Lyeeth's orb seemed
to grow very excited upon discovering the creature. It began circling it quicker
and quicker until it formed a sphere around the puzzled creature. As the sphere
solidified Lyeeth began to come back to his senses. The fat man was howling with
excitement and doing a small dance outside of his cage. Lyeeth grew panicked
when he realized he was in a cage, but even more so when he realized he had
changed. His sight was different, his hearing was different, the temperature was
different, everything was different.
A dragon! A dragon! The fat man continued to dance as others walked up to the
cage. Some smiled sadly, some were indifferent. Some sneered. Lyeeth was
exhausted. He curled up and fell asleep.
Training
Added Sat Jan 14 18:27:19 2023 at level 1:
His training and breaking began the next day. He thought it was all a very real
dream as he was waking up, but then he stretched his wings and began shrieking
loudly and violently thrashing into the cage walls. He had been transferred at
some point into a large bird cage. He felt his wing pop oddly in several places
as he attempted to jump out of the cage and began flapping furiously. This made
the fat man yell in anger. He was grabbed angrily out of the cage and had small
chains clamped to his legs. These small chains were attached to a larger, light
chain of strong mithril.
His captor at the moment seemed to be a small human woman. She wore a ruby
necklace like the others. She was kind. She called him a little sweet creature
and was very sad when she looked at him. She had him nod to show he understood
her, then she explained his situation. He was now a member of Horace's Magical
Beasts traveling Caravan. He would be enslaved in the form of this pseudodragon
until he showed he was properly broken and would not make trouble. He would be
allowed to turn back into his true form only when Sir Horace deemed he was
properly broken in and ready. Everyone in the Caravan had some sort of
shapeshifting talent. Half were slaves like she was, and half had been there
long enough that they were fully trusted not to attempt to escape and were paid
for their performances. They all wore small ruby necklaces, but only the slaves
glowed with inner magic. She continued to explain that during his training the
magical staff Horace carried could give him great pain, or feelings of great
euphoria. This is how he would be broken and trained. Her name was Arwynn. In
the traveling show she was a seal. She said she was from a small coastal village
near Seantryn Modan and had been with the caravan for many years. She was a
slave like him, but she would be in charge of his training and had volunteered
to do so. She said many in the camp, including Horace, were cruel and would
enjoy bringing pain to an elf.
The Star of the Show
Added Sat Jan 14 18:28:15 2023 at level 1:
Over the coming months Lyeeth would experience many things. The caravan would go
from town to town, city to city, and once broken down it would be a small circus
with a large menagerie of animals that did various shows over the period of
three days. Lyeeth, after his rehearsals and training, would quickly become a
crowd favorite. His show was one of aerial acrobatics through obstacles. He
performed amazing feats of speed and agility. He flew through tiny burning
hoops, he snatched flaming arrows out of the sky before they could fly into
Amryth's heart, he did flips and tricks once ordered to do so by Horace like the
others. Over time Lyeeth was allowed to revert back to his elven form. He was
deemed properly broken. His training was mostly done through positive emotional
rewards via the magical talisman instead of painful ones. Deep down Lyeeth
enjoyed the attention and success the shows brought him. He felt like he had
found his calling. How much of an imprint had the evil magic played upon these
deep longings? A lot, but they were still there and they would forever be apart
of him. Lyeeth would become slightly vain and would always want to be the star
of the show.
Amryth taught him many things outside of show tricks. She became a mother figure
to him. She didn't have children herself. Most of the members of the show were
taken as children, most were orphans. They grew up together with Horace as a bit
of a cruel father figure. Amryth was religious. Her faith was centered around
the water and she always had little things to say about how life was a river and
nothing you could do would stop you from eventually ending up in the sea. She
always said Lyeeth was poetry in motion when he was performing, so he developed
a fascination of poetry and different forms of art. Amryth always had the most
unusual things to say and share with him, she was very wise.
Cancelled by the Haters
Added Sat Jan 14 18:28:47 2023 at level 1:
One day chaos erupted, hell broke loose, and Sir Horace Beastmaster of Horace's
Magical Beasts was cut down. It didn't take long for the Battleragers in their
village to realize what was going on with the Caravan, they hadn't even finished
setting up. Idiot Horace was greedy and decided it was fine to set up a show
near the village while on the way to Galadon from Aldevari. It went about as
well as you would expect. Some of the members shifted and fought back, but many
lost all their abilities once Horace's staff was broken. Amryth died protecting
Lyeeth. She told him to run and not to stop running as she pushed a barbarian
off course, his blade of cold iron would have split young Lyeeth in half. It was
total carnage. Lyeeth saw the blade exit Amryth's back and he did as he was
told, he bolted like a deer and didn't stop running. Through tears and anguish
he ran and ran, until he was far away from the village.
He tried to fly away but found he couldn't. He called upon magic that was no
longer there. He noticed the glowing ruby was no longer glowing, he took off the
chain and angrily threw it as far as he could. He was at a large crossroads. He
asked several travelers if they knew the way to Darsylon, but most just rolled
their eyes at him. One old farmer simply grunted and pointed a thumb to the back
of his wagon. Lyeeth rode with turnips and potatoes all the way to Voralian
City. He would eventually make is way back to Darsylon. He would begin his life
as a young shapeshifter, taking up residence in the guildhall there as his
training progressed.
ROLE SUMMARY HERE
Added Sat Jan 14 18:40:38 2023 at level 1:
He was born in the Vale of Arendyl.
His brothers and father were all scouts.
He was scrawny and far too curious for such a life.
He went to Darsylon but wasn't old enough to join the
shifter guild.
He left the city against the rules to go look at a traveling
caravan of exotic animals.
The caravan master was evil and had a powerful talisman of
charming and enchantment.
He was enslaved and turned into a pseudodragon through the
power of the talisman and caravan master's magic.
He became a traveling performer in the traveling show of
Horace's Magical Beasts.
A motherly figure named Amryth who worshipped water and the
oceans adopted him and trained him, teaching him various
philosophies of her watery ways.
Despite being enslaved he began to greatly enjoy the spotlight
and the approval of the crowds. He enjoyed entertaining.
The show stopped a bit too near the Battlerager Village. Hatred
of Magic ensued and left the talisman destroyed, most members
dead, and Lyeeth's only familial support killed.
He was able to escape to Voralian City.
A Star No More?
Added Wed Jan 18 05:53:35 2023 at level 36:
It wasn't long before Lyeeth began to get desperately bored with his mundane day
to day tasks within the Shapeshifter's guild of Darsylon. Many times he was told
he's far too impatient for his own good. He was consistently going too far with
his shapechanging, too quickly. The guildmaster had to take much time to slowly
talk him backwards out of turning an appendage to a tentacle or claw, or his
face to a beaked horror due to the fact he was attempting things beyond his
skill level recklessly. But he continued to learn and grow.
Eventually he found a most humbling form within himself. It wasn't the miniature
dragon he so desired and wanted to re-find within himself. It was a tiny tree
cricket. What a rude let down that was. He knew he had the dragon within
himself. He missed it's stunning emerald-green scales, it's ruby red eyes,
bright yet mysterious. He missed the way the crowds cheered for him as he soared
seemingly reckless through dangerous obstacles, or the way he snatched flaming
arrows and knives out of the air before they could hit Amryth. He missed his
dragon, but most of all he missed the spotlight.
Darsylon had proved to be too little and he once again felt like a fish out of
water. That is until he heard of the Heralds of the Eternal Star. He had heard
of it earlier in his youth, of course, and he had heard Horace complain that he
wasn't allowed to bring his show near to it. But Lyeeth had never really heard
all about the Eternal Star until he moved back into the guild of Voralian City.
Lyeeth had been assigned an errand to take a cask of ale to Olin, and he lugged
that thing miles and miles until completing his task.
A Star is Reborn
Added Wed Jan 18 05:55:20 2023 at level 36:
Upon seeing the inn in person he was overwhelmed by the various artifacts and
old people, as he called them...even though he was a little over a hundred years
old himself. Lyeeth's childlike wonder will likely remain with him for a very
long time as he didn't experience childhood in any normal fashion. Most of his
experiences of youth were spent through the magical amulet and enslavement. But
even so, one of the greatest things he missed other than Amryth was the
spotlight. The more he heard about The Inn of the Eternal Star and the Heralds
that dwelled there the more he knew he could re-find himself and his fame. He
was a Star and he would join them so the world could catch on to his talents and
accept him as such once more.
It didn't take long after that for him to catch the eye of the High Herald,
Zsarreyen. He had been spending a lot of time at the inn getting to know his
future home when she appeared from nowhere and asked if he wanted a job. He
didn't want a job though. He wanted to be a Star so that's what he told her. She
seemed to appreciate this answer, so she made him a Herald after a bit more
discussion.
Lyeeth will always remember the wild-eyed wonderment of his first trip into the
Celestial Lyceum. The Celestial Flames and making the transition into a whole
different time and place was crazy enough, but then to actually be inside a
library that felt...magical? With artifacts and books old as time...it was
unreal. He was most fascinated with the books about different legends of Thera's
history. He skimmed over several books and was bored by the material. He found a
very interesting book on a card game called 'Heroes', however. The game itself
sounded like it could be a wild and fun time, but the book didn't have any cards
drawn up or even clear instructions on how to play. Lyeeth thought long and hard
and began to start a project to bring the game back to life, instead of sleeping
here in the great library. He began to ask around about recent Heroes. Then he
asked about older Heroes. Then he asked about Villains. Then he asked about
Legends. He talked and he talked to anyone who would listen and eventually he
created his first set of Heroes cards.
Leave Them Breathless
Added Wed Jan 18 05:56:04 2023 at level 36:
Lyeeth was able to meet the goddess Rarywey during his first few days at the Inn
and was blown away. She reminded him SO much of Amryth, it was uncanny. Amryth
always had little sayings about the water, and always seemed at peace like a
still river. Rarywey nearly brought tears to his eyes as he remembered and felt
the longing loss of his time with Amryth, who he had considered his mother
before she passed on. After several encounters with Rarywey, he made the choice
to become one of her Breathless. Rarywey explained that to be a Breathless was
to leave such an impression on others that they are breathless when you leave.
She also said right before you drown you are breathless, but Lyeeth ignored that
part for the first statement. She agreed that if Lyeeth became one of her
Breathless she would let him be with Amryth when it was his time to move on to
the next eddie of his soul's journey. He didn't even need to think about it (he
never does) when he agreed to join Rarywey in her faith.
Lyeeth would go on to rediscover the form of the pseudodragon. He was clumsy at
first with it, not being nearly as skilled as he was when he lost it the first
time. But slowly he is recovering his abilities at aerial acrobatics. He
practices daily with most of his forms on different pieces of interest to add to
his own performances.
And so Lyeeth burns brightly, as most Stars do, gathering his fans like moths to
the flame. He will make his new home a place of entertainment and merriment,
with the populace coming from all over just to see him and get to know him as a
Star Performer, he will leave them all breathless.
Happy Sads and Space Statues
Added Sat Jan 28 08:37:56 2023 at level 51:
Like a cosmic meteor tearing across the astral Lyeeth has risen and been burning
brightly in the visions of all. As a Herald he has been perfecting different
performances which include a cricket circus, an aerial acrobatic dragon display,
a giant toad tongue shooting target through swinging sword show, spider web
spitting, a yellowjacket strength display, and a cheetah whirlwind performance.
He has created three decks of 'Heroes' cards including Heroes/Villains, Legends,
and lately 'Gods'. He has enjoyed the few times he has had the opportunity to
facilitate this card game for others.
In his personal life Lyeeth has been experiencing an emotional awakening that he
never expected. Rarywey and her following and those associated with it have
brought out the best and worst in him as these feelings have taken over his day
to day routines. If he isn't very high up and happy, he is typically very low
and depressed. There is rarely a happy middle ground.
He has experienced 'love' multiple times now. Having had no one to speak to in
matters of the heart, he wears his on his sleeve and professes to fall in love
quite often. Those experienced with his earlier versions of 'love' would call it
something else entirely. But lately his love has blossomed into something
entirely pure and caring and is centered around his faith, specifically towards
his Goddess. He is still very vain and self-centered. The spotlight was made for
him, he was named the Star of the Inn, and he basks in the attention he receives
from every creature. He even performs for orcs, goblins, and evil creatures
freely. He feels it is his duty to do so. If he is entertaining evil, they are
distracted by him and not harming anyone.
So much has happened with regards to Rarywey specifically lately. A meteor
crashed into her shrine bringing with it 3 celestial beings who in some way had
interacted with Rarywey during her attempt to cross over with her lover Cedany.
Rarywey was led to believe she had killed Cedany and extinguished her spirit
after her Breathless interacted with these beings. After this news came to pass
she shifted into something of a statue with a tortured and screaming visage. She
has been stuck this way for many moons. Lyeeth has found himself drawn in to her
grief and experiences darkness parallel to her own though he often tries to
bring her out of it. He has visited and played 'Heroes' with her, he has recited
poetry he's written to her, but thus far nothing seems to help. He is helping
the celestial beings as best as he can and trying to organize all the breathless
into doing so with him. This has been the most trying and confusing, deep dark
wallowing, hopeless time of his life. But still he keeps a glimmer of happiness
within him at all times to hang on to. He feels his visits to Rarywey make a
difference on her well being, he hopes if he shines bright enough for her she
will find her way home.
Burning Brightly
Added Fri Feb 10 08:29:17 2023 at level 51:
....and oh how he did.
He looks back upon his experiences and it seems like many lifetimes ago. He's
become very enlightened in so many different areas of life since the last look
into it.
The Celestial beings came and went. Rarywey became familiar with the fate of
Cedany, bringing closure and clarity to all involved. There is of course so much
more to that tale but from Lyeeth's personal experience all the series of events
did was solidify his personal views towards his goddess. She informed him that
during her darkest hours when she felt it was time to let go, his presence,
love, and guiding light kept her from the precipice and eventually reminded her
it was time to come home. His spiritual awakening has continued to grow and burn
brighter, exploding like a supernova in fact.
His is a brightly burning passion that flames with the energy of a true star. He
has poured his heart and soul into his writings and shared all of himself with
Rarywey. She marked him with her silver spyglass to show the world that he was
indeed hers for eternity, for her love goes with him into the Eddies of
Everything even after this mortal form he bares now expires.
He takes great pride in being a Herald of the Eternal Star, as well as other
duties as assigned by his goddess. He sees the Eternal Star as a place of true
greatness and inspiration where everyone in the world can learn to be merry,
kind, and passionate about their lives. In his readings of histories in the
Lyceum, and the tones of all Heralds who have come before him, he recognizes the
potential for the Eternal Star to be so much more than it is.
Lyeeth takes it very personally when anyone would seek to disrupt the peace of
the Inn. Other than those who attempt to murder him personally, the disruptors
who would bring violence and intimidation to the Eternal Star where it doesn't
belong receive his undivided attention. Although his forms are intended for
performances and bringing joy and happiness, so too can they quickly turn to
their wild and primal uses of survival and territorial domination. Lyeeth does
not hesitate when it becomes necessary to defend himself or the inn, Stars know
no fear.
He has seen his efforts bring together so many unlikely crowds in peace and joy.
Marans and Orcs, Imperials and Scions, Outlanders and Magistrates of the Spire.
All come together and are so distracted by his burning brightness it's like they
don't even care for their personal hatreds, if only for a time. Lyeeth focuses
his events towards celebrating every aspect of Rarywey, well, most of the
aspects of Rarywey. He excitedly seeks out potential new Heralds as well,
knowing that with the right group of Heralds, the Eternal Star can shake to it's
foundations every night from the crowds gathered.
