Description
White hair severely pulled back and tied in a single long braid sits atop the
head of an ebony skinned woman of indeterminate age. An inch or two above
five feet in height, she is slender and almost delicate, but her gender is
only revealed in her face, her body entirely covered in non-form fitting
clothing. Nothing in her demeanor suggests friendliness, no smile, no bright
eyes, no welcoming tilt to the head. Just the opposite. Everything about
her screams go away and leave me alone. Her coal black eyes seem constantly
to flit about, checking her vicinity, perhaps for any threat or danger,
though you cannot know. A last glance at her confirms for you that
Role
Horror
Added Fri Apr 27 21:45:06 2012 at level 1:
A lot of the lore of dark-elves is widely known, how they live underground,
how they are ruled by women, how they are haughty and prideful as well as
deceitful and untrustworthy. These and other things are all true. But they
are woefully incomplete, and commonly held wisdom is flawed and oversimplified.
Lzenstiet's a good example. She's a woman, or really more accurately a girl
when her tale begins, and you'd think she's benefit from that, and be among
the ruling elites. But the stereotype is just that, a stereotype, and seems
to forget that not all will fit. There must always be those who defy, for
good or ill, the conventional beliefs and roles. Lzenstiet's life is exactly
the opposite. In short, she's been forced to be a whore for the use of castle
guards.
Daily rapes, generally two or three a day, but at times upwards of nine or ten,
has been her life since only months after adolescence, the result of her mother's
failed coup attempt against the matron mother. Her parents were killed but as
an example to any other potential betrayers, she and her three sisters were
taken and made slaves, two for the castle, one for the army and one for public
brothels. That was fourty five years ago. Now she is the only one left, the
other three dead, two by suicide. Lzenstiet is the only one with the strength
to survive. Much of that strength was hers to start, and gave her the most
chance to live. But there's no doubt some of it comes from her mind's defense
mechanism, and what can only be called a touch of insanity. Delusion. Most
of the time she is lucid, intelligent, normal in the ways assumed for a dark-
elf woman. But when things become particularly bad, she retreats into her mind
and is somewhere else entirely. No one is quite sure where she goes, she's never
spoken of it, but it's always obvious because she becomes entirely silent,
oblivious to all going on around her. It's rare, but unmistakeable.
Escape
Added Fri Apr 27 21:46:15 2012 at level 1:
It was exactly such a moment when she escaped. One of the castle guards was
taking his first time with the slave whores and chose Lzenstiet. Because it was
his first time he didn't know of her behaviors and when in the middle of his
pleasure (and her agony) she became totally still and silent he didn't know
what to make of it, wondering if perhaps she might be dying or even worse
doing something to hurt him he didn't understand. He leapt up and without more
than a moment to pull on leggings he rushed out, leaving all his things there and
whispering charms against curses and magic. But worried he might be mocked by his
mates in the guard, he said nothing, and no one came to check on Lzenstiet. A
moment went by, then two, then four, and nothing happened, no one came. In a daze
but with complete surety of step she rose, put on clothes and began walking out.
When asked she held up the guard's left behind things, and with knowing smirks the
various men let her by, no questions asked. Once she left the palace itself she
was out among the general populace and nobody noticed a lone girl walking by
herself, avoiding any attention.
Knowing, even in her semi-catatonic state, that she couldn't stay in the city for
any length of time, she made her way toward one of the gates and no doubt with
luck on her side for the first time she managed to walk out unnoticed, making
her way along well traveled paths to the surface. Her first moments under the sun,
while not as bad as the many violations she suffered as a slave whore, were still
very bad. She moved from shelter to shelter for days, only slowly growing used to
the bright light, her skin becoming able to withstand the rays without painful
burning. She would wake with a start, sometimes with a scream, nightmares of
being raped coming with some frequency. It was during this time, in a strange
contradiction reaction, that she began to lose tolerance for the touch of any
male. Until now she not only had to tolerate it, but seem to enjoy it, otherwise
she'd be beaten and starved even worse. But now, going days without being touched,
and beginning to restore her sense of self and personal pride, she rejects all
that has happened, and indeed all that there is. She has schooled herself now
not to flinch when being touched by a man - it only happens by happenstance, a
clumsy pedestrian here, a drunk warrior in the street there, never by choice -
but she has no desire and wishes never to be touched again by any mortal man.
A new life begins, and she will be in control!
Added Fri Apr 27 21:46:55 2012 at level 1:
Her warped mind was not fixed by escape to the surface however. Even among dark
elves she'd now be considered evil. Had she the power she would destroy the entire
dark-elf city and every being within it, every man, woman and child. And of course
she has no care, not the least, for any others. She is permanently damaged and
wants nothing more than the destruction of most of the world and its inhabitants
and for her to be among the few left remaining with absolute power. This she will
do now, and take what steps she can to make it so. Like anything else it will
require effort, and attainable goals along the way. She has decided her first
two steps are to learn and master the magic of her chosen guild, and to learn to
kill, anyone at all, and inflict pain as she does so. None of these quick painless
deaths she hears the assassin guild teaches. No. Pain and blood, that is what
she seeks in any and all, without discrimination.
Pain and pleasure
Added Thu May 3 16:45:29 2012 at level 26:
Aclimating to surface life has not been easy or simple. She has a great stength
but there's a brittleness to it, and who knows if or when it will crack. The
vast majority of therans are sheep, the shopkeepers, villagers, creatures barely
above cattle in her view, and there only to provide outlets for learning the
guild's lessons, through giving pain and death. But she also found herself
surrounded by men, and not merely the cattle and sheep of normal therans, but
others who also travel here and adventure. These are not all so weak and foolish
and it is the pain of these that sustains her best. This is one of the key reasons
she chose this guild among all others - magic was a given, it is at the core of
course - but among the mage guilds, none of the others provides the knowledge and
and training, when used with maleific design, to defile bodies with such torture,
such pain. She knows no true happiness and likely never will, but this is as close
as she comes. And she is aware of it, that awareness itself a form of torture of
herself, feeding into her pain, and so on.
The first time she felt that joy was a moment she will relish forever. The frozen,
bewildered face of the pitiful assassin, his confidence wiped away to be replaced
by shock and tremendous fear. His dying cries, the pooling blood, the effluence he
released as any dying beast, all fed her psychosis and made her cackle with glee.
She must have more. She must!
Things greater than herself (not that she would call them that)
Added Thu May 3 16:46:24 2012 at level 26:
Not long before she caught her first glimpse of a nightwalker, accompanying the
advisor, bringing the scions of eternal night to her attention. From what she
knows now, albeit very little, they seem a fitting place for her. But she vowed
she would not seek them, or even let them know she planned to seek them, until
she had tasted taking life for herself, proved that she was not merely one of
harsh words, but harsher deeds. Having broken that barrier, she made her
intentions known to the scions.
Curiously, her studies have also led her to the name of Daevryn, one of the gods
ruling Thera. Indeed, one of the most powerful, above all others and only a few
who may be equal but not greater. Only such a male, and one not mortal, could find
any traction in her soul. And perhaps it is not so much himself, but his creed,
at least so far as she has learned it to date. Maybe it's foolish to divorce the
path from the god, but in her mind she finds no cognitive dissonance and is not
threatened or violently angry at him as she is at most other men. The obvious
fact that no deity would want a mere mortal for anything of that sort, and that
he is always linked to Rayihn, another of the gods, erases her concerns on that
front, and allows her to accept him as she would no other. She has not yet met
or communicated with him, but she will, and when she does she will no doubt
articulate both her general long term goals, but also specific steps. The first
few have already been achieved, gaining the guild, succeding in it, and using
that magic to bring a painful death to one who had the ill luck to catch her
baleful eye. More will come.
Sick in the head

One side effect of her derangement, one that would never have been revealed had
her captivity in Teth Azaleth not been evaded, is her equal rage toward all races.
She had never met any but her own race before, and so would have no real cause
for animus toward them. But her mind is not rational and upon reaching the surface
and interacting with these many beings, she finds a wellspring of hatred bubbling
up for them, too, and destroying them is no less joyful. Humans, felar, arials,
they are all nothing, nothing but walking corpses. She has learned to spend time
with them, even mimic basic social behaviors, only in aid of using them to bleed
and dance while she casts her spells and learns new tricks from the guildmaster.
Among the few benefits she learned in her days as a sex slave, is acting. If the
man felt you truly enjoyed him as opposed to all the others, he treated you much
better. Male pride is easy to manipulate in that way. And so she can put on the
face she needs for most circumstances, hiding her true seething rage. Even so,
there are no doubt a few lines over which anyone crossing will cause her facade
to drop and the not-so-metaphorical claws will come out.
The greeting message to scions, to explain her belief. Other notes won't be used as role entries.
Added Thu May 3 16:52:49 2012 at level 26:
Narissorin said to send by messenger to you three the following:
What I believe is forbidden. What I will study. How this will benefit
the chasm. I believe nothing is forbidden. I already study, and I study the
ways to bring about the night through pain. I have learned that these portals
and links to the world of the night are fed with pain. The destruction of
this world will come when enough pain is caused to fuel the dark magic to
open the portals permanently, and I intend for those strong enough, those
of the chasm being the chosen few, to survive and rule, myself among them.
If the vast teeming thousands of beings die in the process, all the better.
And the icing on the proverbial cake is that I, we, get to inflict that pain
and suffering as we destroy those around us, and bask in the joy of that
magic fueling pain. Is it not glorious??
I walk the lands and learn and grow in my own power, and have only pledged
now that I have tasted the taking of life, so you would know there are not
only words, but actions. More will come, and only we few will know the end.
Has she found it?

Over here, my pretty, over here, says the ancient crone, practically crumbling
to dust herself as she holds up an impossibly old tome. Maybe this is what
you're looking for, child. Bristling at being called child and the hag's
tone, Lzenstiet holds back only because for now she may need her, and, after
all, the old bitch will be dead soon enough all by herself. Living with the
constant pains of extreme old age are probably almost as bad as whatever she
could do to her anyway. Stepping forward she mutters to herself that she
hopes this time will be different. She's been to libraries all over thera,
the lyceum, the Sultan's, libraries on other continents, even libraries in the
deep past, but none has held the dark arcane lore she seeks, the secrets to
imbuing her magic with the added misery and dark power to cause exceptional
pain, beyond the ordinary, beyond the already painful magics she learns.
She has strong eyes though, and even stronger emotions - twisted though they
may be - and aside from the expected disappointments, she is undeterred.
Disappointment again, but with a reward anyway.
Added Sat May 12 18:15:08 2012 at level 36:
Here you go young miss, I knew I had it somewhere! Lzenstiet takes the volume
and begins reading. After a few moments the ancient crone becomes impatient,
or simply cannot stand for that long, and shuffles off, leaving a stock-still
Lzenstiet standing and reading with total focus. Five minutes go by. Ten.
Thirty. Over an hour later she finally lifts her eyes and sighs, closing the
book with another frown. Noticing, the hag comes over and with unforgivable
cheeriness and optimism asks if it's what she wanted and does she want to buy
it? A deep, unfightable rage bubbles up in Lzenstiet, this latest failure
combining with the woman's intolerable attitude to touch off a super hot fire
in the already unstable drow, and throwing the book aside she changes her mind,
quick as that, and casts as she simultaneously decides to kill the ancient with
as much pain as possible. She twists the crone's already papery skin, she
doubles her up with pain as her muscles seize, she shatters her bones, and
relishing the screams and rictus grin she finally allows the crone the peace of
death with a final spurt of arcane power. Standing over the corpse she lets
out a deep breath, exhaling the rage with the air. With the instaneous ease of
the insane she turns around and leaves the shop, already forgetting her anger
of just seconds ago. Her mind is focused on her hunt for lore, her continued
study of the dark magics.
Success is built and will continue.
Added Sat May 12 18:16:13 2012 at level 36:
But not all has been tedious and unfruitful. She experience extreme pleasure
when she made good on her threat to the fool male priest Brindlebum. He of
course suffers from being a man, so he starts off at a disadvantage, but
then he calls her "chap", and dismisses her, thinking his eight guildranks
and healing powers will protect him. But she is crafty and knows her magics
far better than the bumbling 'Bum can ever imagine and she trapped him, taking
many hours to kill him as he was unable to flee or send himself away. When he
realized his doom and simply stood there, taking the punishment and pain, she
felt an almost sexual joy. Standing over his corpse, with him right there as
well, she felt his fear and hatred and it fed her like the finest of wines.
This is what she likes most, and though she fears death almost as much and so
is rarely reckless, she may sometimes overstep herself as any addict might.
All of these thoughts go through her head as she leaves the shop and begins
her search again. There are more libraries, more old magic shoppes, more
hidden nooks to search. And of course, more to learn every time she kills
things and people in thera, giving the guildmasters reason to teach her new
and even better spells. She has these very definite goals and so far she
has attained most of them in order, each step definite in the way only the
insane can. When she does finally meet with Daevryn she hopes he will
appreciate this side of her, and discuss with her the future.
Peak too early??
Added Mon May 21 10:04:59 2012 at level 40:
But I worry that I peaked too early, do you think that's too hard on myself?
Oh, yes, of course, I'm sorry, I forgot. Reaching down Lzenstiet pulls aside
the human male's bloody gag. Bound to a slab of broken and cracked granite,
itself a cause of constant pain, his body shows only some of the horrors she
has inflicted upon him, much only happening on the inside. But even so the
horrible disfigurements, the bones jutting out, the flesh strange shapes and
colors, all scream undeniably that he has undergone extended unthinkable
torture. Kept alive only by her crude healing magics, he cannot speak
coherently so when his gag is pulled aside all that comes out is a weak groan
and bloody saliva. What was that my dear, what did you say? Oh, yes, of course,
I haven't told you the whole story so you said you aren't sure. Forgive me,
please, and let me tell you. Pausing a moment to order her psychotic thoughts,
she casually inserts some glass shards into his abdoment and rubs them around,
smiling as he shrieks in pain.
Well, it's certainly my finest moment so far, bringing down perhaps the second
most powerful imperial dog - worm? - all by myself, without shedding a single
drop of blood. A lesson there, by the way. Not all pain, not even all the
most painful pain, is physical. I fooled this imperial high priest Kheorr,
tricked him like he was a six year old fool child, and after safeguarding the
Scepter, after having him run all around Thera doing my bidding, I tasked him
to bring me things, and thinking I was a God, when he failed, his great shame
and pain was too much, so much, that he took his own life, forever! Imagine
that! I, Lzenstiet, far down his guildlevel, not only killed, but forever
killed him and removed one of our sworn enemies. His shame, his embarrasment,
his pain at the realization of failure must have been exquisite, and fueled
the portals well. I only wish I could have been there at the final moments to
see his face and utter despair. And the final destruction. So sweet.
+ No, of course not!
Added Mon May 21 10:06:23 2012 at level 40:
So do you see now, my pet? I worry it will be difficult to achieve something
greater. What was that you said? Speak up! Responding to absolutely nothing
at all, Lzenstiet continues. Yes, you're right of course, I am being too hard
on myself. There is so much more to do, so much destruction to enjoy and so
much pain to absorb. If nothing else I can match the quality of the priest's
death with quantity. That will be entertaining and useful as well. You are
very kind to help me through this, my sweet. Restoring the gag she wiggles
two fingers and speaks a short few words and the poor man's body arcs up, taut
with an almost electric pain, his neck veins and arteries bulging, his eyes
wide with agony. Far too short for Lzenstiet and far too long for him, a loud
crack! is heard and his body collapses, his bowels void and this throat emits
a slight rattle. Ah well, playtime is over, I must return to my hunting for
lore and prey. Lore and prey. And Daevryn of course. He eludes me. I wonder
why? I will find out soon enough, I'm sure.
But wait, there's more!
Added Mon May 21 10:07:35 2012 at level 40:
Wiping her hands and moving out she completely ignores the setting, the body,
the room, her mind already on to other things and her insane pass-time of
total insignificance. She is focused, she's seen hints here and there in
the libraries and loremasters of a Mistress of Pain, a mage who, like herself,
sought to enhance her magics not for show or great power like a fireball or
giant shape to take, but rather increase the pain caused by her spells.
Dead these many centuries her existence is mostly forgotten, her work mostly
lost. But Lzenstiet is nothing if not dedicated. Single minded some might
say. She has already begun having wider success in bringing the destruction
of most all that walk the lands, using her spells to kill with pain, and
it is satisfactory. Sometimes even better. But she will and must improve.
Practice, practice, practice. And oh so pleasing is the practice, even if
they sometimes escape before death, bleeding and twisted both inside and out.
As the Omens and her research have shown, that pain can be channeled and used
to fuel the portals. Her summoned Ccul'gra have communicated in their base,
halting manner, confirming that they feel slightly stronger when they are with
her and she plies her trade upon her enemies (most everyone).
Turning around quickly and facing the body once more she yelps out oh! I
forgot one thing my darling! A meeting with a God! How could I forget??
Speaking to the corpse as if it could hear or care, she goes on to describe
an unpleasnt few hours spent as a sloth, (dis)courtesy of Enlilth. His
initial anger was fearsome, and not entirely unexpected, and understandable,
but after some discussion he began to see the truth of her words, that her
efforts obviously served her own interests, but also served to show Enlilth
that his lackey was unfit, weak, and good riddance. He really should be
thanking me! Still, I won't hold my breath. Of course meeting any Deity is
worthy of note. Perhaps Enlilth's anger will be matched by equal praise from
Mergulla and Reksah, though I won't hold my breath for that either. With that
she turns again and walks away for good.
