Description
Makdran is a sturdy and robust dwarf, standing only five feet tall. His stout
build and stubby frame exude strength, power, and endurance, with large
muscles on his arms and legs. His aged, tanned skin reflects the years he has
spent braving the unforgiving mountains of his homeland. With a magnificent
fire-red beard cascading down to his chest, also covering part of his
voluminous beer belly, intricately braided and embellished with small
trinkets and mementos from his various daring exploits. His small, piercing
amber eyes, which glow with wisdom, insight and determination, are hidden
behind a pair of goggles, protecting him from the elements.

Makdran is a dwarf who lived for several years in the deep mines near Akan
until some events caused him to stop mining and focus on new paths. His
father and uncle were ambushed while transporting a shipment of precious
stones to a ship that was to anchor at the docks of Hamsah. Not only were all
the gems looted, but they were killed and their bodies dumped on the side of
the road connecting the two large cities (Galadon and Hamsah). He spent a
long time reflecting on what had happened, not knowing what to do. He knew
that he was very angry, but angry at whom, for no one knew who the culprits
were, for many travel this road daily. He went to talk to the elders who
reside in Akan in order to find a reason to continue living, for he did not
see much reason to do so. First they told me to look for more information
about who had committed such horrendous crimes and then, after finding the
culprits, it would be better for me to cling to the gods so that I could have
a better life and that they would somehow help me make sense of my existence
in this world. Such conversations reassured me and then I went out in search
of information.
Makdran making choices.

After incessant searching, Makdran concluded that it would be difficult to
find out who was responsible for the death of his father and uncle, so he
decided it was time to start doing something more. He returned to his
homeland to speak with the elders to see if they could give him some more
guidance. After this he was very thoughtful and came to the conclusion that
the same way his father and uncle thought he had never bothered to learn ways
to defend himself with weapons or other skills, so he decided that he needs
to train long and hard so that if one day he needs to, he will be able to do
so. He clings to the religion of combat because he knows that if he prays
with a lot of faith the gods will answer his call when necessary.
Preparation to the War against dark forces.

While Makdran was preparing himself to fight better when needed he was also
thinking of how he could help others, since he could not do anything to
defend his father and uncle from the onslaught of the evil ones. He noted
that many are going over to the side of the Empire and that the number of
necromancy scholars is also increasing. This is giving him the strength to
better prepare himself to fight these growing forces of evil that will
probably at some point turn against the innocent, such as his relatives. He
now has one focus in life, to become strong enough to fight for the innocent,
defending them with his own life if necessary. He knows it will not be easy,
but that if he is well prepared, nothing or no one can stop him.

During his training, Makdran sought guidance on how to further develop
himself in order to protect the innocent. He approached various travelers,
who shared tales of a Fortress where kind-hearted individuals with similar
life aspirations congregated. Intrigued, Makdran delved into researching the
Fortress and the requirements for becoming a member. Through conversations
with newfound friends he had made during his training, he grew confident that
he could join the Brigade despite the inherent risks. One fateful night,
Makdran had the opportunity to engage in a lengthy conversation with the
Captain of the Brigade. Eager to impress, he offered thoughtful answers and,
to his surprise, was extended an invitation to join the Fortress as a Squire.
After this significant breakthrough in his journey as a protector of the
innocent, Makdran felt a deep desire to receive a blessing from a deity,
hoping that it would further strengthen his confidence. After finding the
sacred place he devoted several days to fervent prayers, whenever he needed
guidance he would travel from different locations and there at the shrine and
spend hours, sometimes even days, in deep communion with Lady Baerinika.
Finally, his perseverance paid off, as he was granted the honor of an
audience with the Goddess. Overcome with relief and satisfaction, Makdran, a
dwarf who had gone through great suffering, bearing the burden of the loss of
his father and uncle, found himself in the presence of a divine being. The
experience left him amazed and filled with joy. At that moment, a wave of
strength and power coursed through his body, invigorating him and confirming
to Makdran that he was indeed on the right path.
New discoveries

Makdran Rakgnison continued for several years the search for the culprits for
the loss of his father and uncle, he talked to many people, one of these
people was a priest and told him to remember what state the bodies were in
when they were found. He looked for the guards that patrol the eastern road
and managed to meet with the guard who found the bodies and asked him several
questions that made the guard have a very strange memory, because there were
no bloodstains where they were or nearby. As it had been a few days since
this happened, the guard thought this was very strange, but as he was late
for his rounds, he went back to work. After this conversation, Makdran
returned to the priest and told him what he had talked about with the
patrolling guard, then the priest turned red and raising his hands upwards
asked forgiveness for what he was about to say: My friend, I can't say for
sure because I didn't see the scene of the crime, but from what I've heard
there have been other cases similar to yours, and the cause of these events
were vampires. So, as there were no blood marks where they were found, I
conclude that they were killed by vampires too. And I am sure that you know
where you can find them, either in Chasm or now more recently one is guarding
the big cities as a magistrate.
Makdran, the Maran of Holy Brigade and the future

After discovering the tragic story of his father and uncle, Makdran, an
honorable member of the Holy Brigade, embarked on a journey that
took him to many distant lands. With his courage and determination, he earned
the respect of many allies and even some adversaries. Recognizing his skill
as a leader, Makdran feels the desire to hone his combat techniques to
confront the cruel and protect the innocent. Although he is admired for his
bravery, Makdran still does not feel comfortable confronting enemies in large
cities unless absolutely necessary. However, he does not hesitate to
intervene when one of his fellow Fortress members is attacked, as in the case
where he faced a Reaver who was threatening a colleague. For Makdran, it is
essential that those who harm the innocent feel the weight of the hand of
Light's justice. He is dedicated to protecting others and, to be more
effective in this mission, he constantly seeks knowledge. He realizes that
the possibilities of fighting enemies are endless, always discovering new
approaches and strategies.The memory of failing to save his father and uncle
remains etched in Makdran's mind, strengthening his resolve in his mission to
protect the innocent. This painful experience drives him to continue the
quest for new knowledge and skills. As time passes, new goals begin to form
in Makdran's mind. He realizes that the Fortress has been without a Marshal
for several years and harbours a desire to become the next to hold that
position, should no other candidate be appointed. He sees this position as an
opportunity to lead and protect those who depend on the Fortress for their
safety. So Makdran continues on his journey, committed to honoring the memory
of his father and uncle, protecting the innocent, and constantly seeking the
knowledge and courage needed to face the enemies of the Light.
