Description
You come to rest your gaze upon a revolting abomination. Standing almost as
tall as a giant, this massive twisted creature has the head of a bull.
Bloodstained black horns come out of his bovine head to a jagged curve and
then a sharp tip a few inches over each of his beady little black eyes.
Tattered black fur seems to melt into skin as it reaches his shoulders,
leaving him with the muscular torso and skin of a man. From his waist, he
twists yet again to form sturdy hind legs that plant him to the ground on
heavy hooves. Under his various war worn armor, he is clad in tattered black
robes, just as torn and bloodstained as his armor. Around his neck is a worn
iron necklace, with nine charms. A broken pentagram, inverted cross, and many
other symbols not easily discerned at a quick glance circle the iron chain.
He holds himself with a commanding presence, fearless and confident in his
stance. At a last look, you can see that

A prophecy is born

Candles flickered in the large and cold stone chamber, sending shadows
dancing around the room. The room was void of any decorations, stone walls
and floor, with only a large arched doorway in one wall with an iron door.
Centered in the room was a golden slab, and an top of it lay a beautiful
woman. The chamber echoed with the sounds of her crying voice as she cried
loudly. Her hands and feet were bound to the slab, and she was pregnant. Late
in her pregnancy from her look, she squirmed with her bonds as she sobbed and
sobbed. The iron door opened, and twenty or so robed figures with their hoods
draped low over their faces marched into the room, single file. They all wore
the exact same robes and kept their heads low, making it impossible to
discern any of their faces. Chanting in a strange tongue, they filed in,
circling around the slab with the woman on it. Once they made a circle, they
began to chant louder as two of the robed figures stepped forth. All of a
sudden the woman was screaming louder, in obvious agony. One of the two
figures grabbed her by the legs and plugged her womb, preventing the baby
from being born out the womb passage. She twisted and screamed in agony as
the chanting got louder, the man still blocking her womb. Her eyes rolled
back in her head, and her breath slowed. As suddenly as the pain had began,
her stomach began to move, and then burst open, showering the mens robes in
guts and blood. Left in the place of her belly was a tiny baby Minotaur,
black horns and fur a mix with his human skin. The robed figure held the baby
before the others, high up for all to see. His words cut through the silence
like iron on elvish skin when he spoke. "And beast and man will lay, and the
child will be of both. And he will grow of both, and hear the call of the
Prince. And the Behemoth will come forth from the hells, and the sun will
flee the sky as the hells spit fire."
The Devil's massacre

Maugauth hastened his pace as he neared the end of the road leading to the
hidden temple. Ten years. It had been ten years since the last time the Black
Coven had met, and it would be ten years again until their next meeting. This
would be his second meeting, not including the one of his birthing. The
meetings were all robed men and women, mostly wearing masks but all
concealing their identities in some way. They could be anyone from the lowest
street beggar to the Empress of Seantryn Modan herself, and everybody
in between. The last meeting he was just a boy, but wiser than any of the
humans around him he quickly saw through the false curtain. The Coven claimed
to be favored of the Prince of Darkness, but it was hardly such. The
gatherings were an excuse for the rich and poor alike to dress up in hoods
and masks, and engage in erotic sex group gatherings while playing out their
fantasy for dark rituals. They spoke the words, praised the Prince...but
their words were as hollow as their souls. Maugauth was praised, worshipped
even at the meetings. It was foretold in their prophecy that a man beast of
their raising would be chosen, and they looked to Maugauth to make the
connection. He was raised in the unholy ways, learning of the pit of fire and
its nine circles. He could feel dark energy, channel it at times, but he had
not yet heard the voice of the Devil yet. As Maugauth arrived at the
gathering, it was as it was last time. Drinking and smoking, an orgy in every
room. He knew why they were there. The rage and fury built up in Maugauth as
he grew more and more disgusted with his surroundings. Just when he thought
he would explode, everything got quiet in his head. He could not hear the
sounds of the party anymore. Two words boomed through his head, and then
faded as quickly as they had came. "Kill them". Maugauth did not know exactly
how he knew where the words had come from, but somehow he knew the Prince had
called. Grunting loudly, he unsheathed his axe and began swinging, the sounds
of the party replaced with screams of terror and horror until the night was
quiet again. Maugauth stood alone in the temple, covered in blood and mangled
human remains. His condemning act only sated his hunger for sin for moments,
but it was enough to revel in. Maugauth knew he had been called, and he dare
not refuse such a call. He would serve the Prince, encouraging and pressing
others into such condemning acts that the Dark Prince could feast on their
souls in the hells for all eternity. Maugauth left the temple a bloody mess,
determined to connect himself further with the lord of the hells.
The Horned Herald of the Inferno, Imperial High Priest, Champion of the Empire
Added Fri Apr 29 01:48:33 2011 at level 51:
"You like giving orders then?" Very well. The words of the Emperor echoed
in Maugauth's mind as he left the throne room, freshly appointed the new
High Priest of the Empire. It had been a long journey, thinking back on
the road that led him here. It almost seemed in a distant life, the
journey. The massacre of the cult, swearing the bloodoath, learning the
ways of the Divine, the journey into the fires of the hell to stand
before the Prince of darkness. It was a well known fact that he was the
Empires strongest champion. Even the Emperor himself feared giving him
the seat of High Priest, and rightly so. But it was not because Maugauth
was plotting for the Throne. Far from it, actually. He had proven to be
able to overcome everything in his path. He had never fallen in battle,
and pulled his axe from the chest of countless foes he had left bloody
and broken in his wake. The throne would be his one day, as would the
entire imperial army. But Sivyh had proven useful for the time, and now
would be twice as watchful for betrayal. All things in time. There was
much work to be done in the pit of fire, for now. Much sculpting and
molding to do in the Empire as the High Priest. A king may rule an
Empire, but it is often his advisor that truly holds the power,
especially if trusted. It is in every intention to gain the complete
trust of Sivyh, then manipulate him to his own ends. It could prove far
more useful to play the puppeteer of the Emperor, rather than the Emperor
himself. Though it was important that the rest of the sect leaders fall
into line. Norrington was easy enough to use. He had made Maugauth rich,
and admires his strength, even fears it. He would be no bother. Oringus
on the other hand can prove to be an issue. If only he could find a way
to manipulate the Emperor into moving the Zaan into the seat of the War
Master. The muse had proven loyal and useful, and would be much easier to
manipulate than the stubborn duergar. As for the dread lord, it would not
matter. Both the necromancer and dark knight that could fill the position
no more than worship the ground his hooves stand on. And in his own sect,
none would dare oppose his power. He was the Horned Herald of the
Inferno, and their High Priest. Even the mightiest of Enlilths servants
trembled to his power. Invigorated with his new position of power, and
lusting for more, Maugauth begins laying his spider web of plans to
motion. The Prince of Darkness demanded souls to feed on, for his power
to be proclaimed. Maugauth would not disappoint his lord, each day, each
step coming closer to ruling the army that he would remain champion of.
The strong of the Empire may even be favored by his lord. The
weak....well, the weak would make great feasts for the Prince's hunger
for souls. Determined to bleed the Arch-Devils of the circles to prove
himself worthy of his own place of power in the Inferno upon his death,
A journey to the far north

"Line them up in the center of the town, on their knees." The imperial
soldiers pushed the men of the village to the town square, herding them
together like sheep. With rough kicks to the backs of their knees, each
man was brought to his knees on the cold mud. The weather had been
particularly harsh in the far north of Thera, and Maugauth despised trips
to the far north, short of the visits to the Fortress in the mountains to
slaughter their soldiers. He could feel the cold of this day in his very
horns. Surveying the men before him, he spoke out "Bring the women, and
the children. They are to witness this." As the imperial soldiers prodded
out the other villagers to witness, he cocked his head to the side and
eyed the first man on his knees. "Worthless human, I offer you a choice.
Take the bloodoath, or have your head on a pike outside the village." The
man trembled as he spoke up, "We are but simple farmers and peasants, not
soldiers. We are loyal to the Archon lord. Our praises go to him..."
Before he could finish speaking, Maugauth raised and dropped his fist,
ordering the solder standing behind the man to swing down his axe,
decapitating the man instantly. Maugauth moved on to the next man on his
knees. "And you?" In tears, the man just looked at the dirt, shaking his
head. "May the lord of archons have mercy...." Maugauth raised and
lowered his fist again, and another head rolled free to the mud. As he
moved to the next man, the man gazed up at him and spoke, "My heart, my
soul, my life for the Empire." Maugauth pointed to the freshly
bloodoathed man and said "Brand him." The man cried out as a hot iron was
pressed to his neck by the imperial soldiers, branding the mark of the
imperial codex into his neck. As Maugauth moved to the next man, he too
took the bloodoath, and the next, and the next. All the rest of the men
had seen enough, their wills broken, and swore allegiance to the Empire.
Each one after the next felt the hot iron of the branding stick on their
neck, reminding them of their oath. Maugauth ordered the Imperial
soldiers to tie the bloodoaths to the back of each of their horses, so
they would keep pace as they traveled. He looked to the rest of the
villagers, and spoke to the imperial soldiers. "Gather all the young
women, and have them placed in that hut. I will leave my mark here." The
children stared in horror as their sisters and cousins were dragged off
into the hut by the soldiers. Maugauth looked at the remaining children,
all young boys and barely men and spoke to them "I will return for you in
a few years." Maugauth then disappeared into the hut for near an hour,
the screams of the young girls drowning out the cries of the freshly
bloodoathed men and young children left to listen. When he came from the
hut, he said "It is done, they are seeded. Onward north now, we have

three more villages to stop at before nightfall, and our return to the
palace with our slaves." The soldiers all bowed their heads and uttered
various forms of "Yes my High Priest." Maugauth stretched a wide
stretch, and began his march, leading the convey of soldiers to the next
village. Behind him, he left only a group of crying boys, two heads on
pikes outside the village, and a tattered banner bearing the imperial
codex in the center of the town circle, whiping and blowing in the frigid
winds.
