Description

Several small and delicate braids interweave, forming a longer braid that drops down her back, to her knees. Her hair reflect a vibrant color of deep auburn and a single, snow-white streak is weaved separately on the right side of her face. The end of the braid is detained with a clip of pure gold, carved with the letters MVD. Her dark-brown, searching eyes mirror an unusual sort of intensity in the rare occasion where she will make direct eye contact. Her manner when she speaks is calm and her body is well toned. Her tidy apparels give out a gentle scent of jasmine which lingers momentarily after she passes by. If you could guess her age, she would appear to be in her early twenties. A tiny, black mole can be seen resting beneath her right eye.

Role

A Lucky Touch

Added Wed Mar 26 12:49:56 2014 at level 1:
The rumbling passion of Mount Kidana-Rah to the south echoed through-out
the lands, reaching to the small town of Arkham, on the day of Mellinoe's
birth. Born on the 13th hour of the full day, her father thought her to be
a blessed child. She was the youngest of three children and the child of a
well known merchant and a herbalist.

Growing up as a child, Mellinoe would spend half her year traveling with her
father to the settlements that outlined the town and a few times even across
the great sea to the west, to a massive city named Hamsah Mu'Tazz, where he
would do most of his dealing and trades. Mellinoe's brothers would always be
present as well, as they learned so they would follow in their father's
steps. Wandering, she observed many different types of beings, both of the
light and the darkness and saw many wonderful and also terrifying things
that taught her that one day, in order to see the world, she would have to
have a way to defend herself. Through her mother she learned proper manners
and herbal medicine, which she would often apply to her father and brothers
as they would journey.

Growing into a young, attractive girl, Mellinoe stopped travelling with her
brothers and father as much, becoming absorbed in painting things that
her heart sang within her. It was one afternoon when she walked across the
harbor, when she saw a man that was dark, clutching at his side, breathing
heavily. He fell to the side of the path when she hurried to him and saw that
he had been stabbed. No herb she had upon her would be able to heal a wound
like this she knew and it was then, when her desire grew fiercer, that
her eyes began to see the redness that enclosed him. Losing consciousness,
she placed her delicate hands upon his injury, trying futilely to stop the
bleeding and just then, time within her slowed as her fingertips tingled
and small threads of light escaped her and caressed the gash, healing
it fully. As the man opened his eyes and looked upon her, she found
herself blushing, while her blood-stained hands trembled a bit from the
rush of adrenaline within her. Taking both her hands in his, the man stood
and thanked her with a kiss on her hands, which sent a jolt of flutters
within her abdomen. He then vanished before her eyes.

Passions Explored

Added Thu Mar 27 10:11:26 2014 at level 5:
As the days passed, Mellinoe found that the healing threads became easier
to control and mending others came naturally to her. She devoted a lot of
her time at the temple with the old priest, where she would help him with
healing those in need, but that did not gratify the hunger that kept growing
within her, so she joined the Healers guild in Arkham, to perhaps learn more
about her ability. The fact that her "power" had stirred on its own, made
Oron, her guild master believe that she was blessed. She then set out and
made deliveries across Thera, beyond Hamsah Mu'Tazz, to Galadon and the
beautiful Voralian City, to the Halfling lands and Tir Talath and many, many
more. Her guild master in turn taught her many new things of being a healer,
and to her luck, she always learned well and fast. The weapon that the guild
had assigned to her she did not like, because she believed it to be more for
a male than a female. She was no warrior, so she sought out to also find a
weapon that more suited her and could also defend her.

During her search and explorations through-out the lands, every moment she
was awake, every second she was asleep, she always thought of the wounded
man in the Wharf, looking upon her with his penetrating eyes and igniting a
passion within her so strong, that it set her off into the world to perhaps
one day see him again.

Living Through Exploring

Added Wed Apr 2 17:02:40 2014 at level 17:
Through her journeys, she tried to avoid conflict as much as possible,
preferring to learn her abilities better by aiding others in their missions.
She continued trades and sells across Thera as she moved about, learning
of the world and its aspects of light, darkness and balance. She believed
luck was on her side, for there were countless times where she would triumph
in circumstances of life and death. An assault from a bandit in Voralia made
her decide that since sometimes enmity cannot be evaded, she would have
to use a weapon to defend herself better, even though her guild master was
teaching her to better guard her soul. On her return from Voralia, she found
a whip close to the Wharf in her hometown, which she believed was a gift
from luck, as she instantaneously favored it.

She did not care much for the politics that ruled the world, but she found
the company and relaxation of the Eternal star as a good respite when she
would travel. Many of her dealings transpired in her hometown and that was
where she encountered the first soul that fascinated her, a half-elven shadow-
dweller who had a manner of speaking that she found entertaining. He was
not exactly a 'friend' to her, but he was the closest connection she had made
besides her immediate family. His face became familiar to her as she would
come across him in other places and cities through Thera.

In her heart, she believed she was destined to become someone important.
She believed that through her gift, she was to find her true destiny. Since
she had felt the touch of luck many times in her travels, she believed the
time was nearing when she would seek out the lord of luck himself, for the
little she had read in books about him enthralled her and called to her
heart, almost like an unspoken bond. Through it all, her eyes still searched
for the wounded man in the Wharf.

New Pursuits

Added Wed Apr 9 19:00:49 2014 at level 23:
For a while, Mellinoe wandered the lands, gradually collecting possessions
she would find interesting and tending to her trades with merchants across
the lands. It had been years since last she had painted anything and that
desire was aroused within her again when the hidden one from her younger
years appeared before her one day and gave her a poem he had written for her.
The bond she felt inside for him grew more then and inspiration raged again
within her as he reminded her oddly of the wounded one she had saved. She
started painting again, her first subject after many years portraying herself
at the Wharf, with a hint of the shadow-dweller in the mists that surrounded
her and this she gifted to him when she completed, sealing the bond she felt
with him.

More than once, she had stood extremely lucky in her escape from certain
death, so her belief in the lord of luck grew stronger and stronger. Small
coincidences would occur, where the number 13 would cross her path in the
form of some object or event, which only enhanced the feeling inside that
urged her to seek out the hidden temple. She eventually found it with the
help of the Heralds, who offered her a place among them which she would
accept and seek out after she had perfected her gifts. Upon meeting her
lord for the first time, she was very nervous. She had never seen a deity
before and was uncertain how she was supposed to act before one, but she
truly tried to be as calm as possible. She found herself really loving her
lord, as he gave her a new pursuit to follow in life. She was to find 13
things that would be essential to painting and bring them before her lord
and so she set out, her eyes forever searching the shadows and the path to
the lucky Inner circle.

Adventures

Added Thu May 1 20:52:18 2014 at level 50:
Mellinoe was very easy going with others. She did not mind being in the
company of either those of the light or those of darkness. She did find
it more desirable and fun when she journeyed with those of a darker nature
though, but she did not realize the reason behind this. She continued
to draw when the situation stirred her, keeping some of the images
that held some sort of importance to her.

Before she even knew it, she had reached forty years old. Mellinoe did not
feel any different, and the years she spent focusing her healing energies
helped her keep her age entirely hidden from the eyes of the world. Her
skin did not look a day older than when she was twenty, yet she allowed
some strains of her hairs to become silvery, because she enjoyed the color.
It had been many years since last she saw Mavado, but she thought of him
often when she would travel. She had made some few friendly relations, with
the Wood-Elven Warrior named Hughli, who she assisted in many missions in
strange, magical places, Donatien the human shape-shifter who turned into
a beautiful cheetah, Pliclic, a very bizarre Half-Drow Shaman who looked
quite a bit demonic but strangely had a soft side and a few Heralds like
Eralsodiz, the Cloud giant chef that searched for the path to the moon, for
he believed that there are where his memories were veiled.

Her search for the thirteen things continued and so far she had collected
only a few things that she had found near the Lyceum of the Eternal Star.
One more she thought of was that which inspires her, so every time she would
think that, Mavado would enter her thoughts. She was not sure how she would
be able to present him as the thirteenth thing, but he was definitely the
main source of her creative inspiration. So her search continued through her
travels, hoping that one day she would complete her spiritual quest.

Undertakings

Added Fri May 16 19:39:43 2014 at level 50:
For the next several years, Mellinoe moved quite a bit, assisting those who
requested her skills. She saw Mavado once during those years and gifted him
a golden pen she collected in one of her ventures with Hughli. After that
day, the shadows grew silent and that sent a sad feeling inside her heart
that she would try to shake. She did not understand why she felt this way
for this man, but she could not stop feeling the way she did.

One of her most unforgettable undertakings took place south across the Araile
desert, where she journeyed with Pliclic through the sands of sorrow in
search for a mythical pyramid. Another was with Hughli, who ventured through
more wild, forested areas, fighting giant rats and pure-bloods at a dwelling
where cow-like beings roamed in swamps. She kept some distance from the
Empire with the passing of Ooglarr and enjoyed the company of some dark
Elven Scarab she assisted in Seantrynn Modan.

Not long after, she heard that Pliclic fell in combat. The news disappointed
her greatly, because Pliclic often kept her company when she would wish to
explore and she knew with him she could always be entirely herself. She
even drew an image of them when they fought against a giant spider, which
she was lucky to show him before he passed. She continued to wander after
that, often going to temples across Thera and offering Thirteen cakes of
bread in the name of her Lord for those in need, still searching where she
could for the remaining items she required for drawing.

Twists and Spirals of existence.

Added Thu Jun 5 09:58:29 2014 at level 51:
As her thirst for exploration and knowledge sustained, Mellinoe started to
become a little less afraid to explore on her own. Hughli often took her
on explorations when she was not protecting the Tree and she had formed a
new close friendship with Eralsodiz, the legendary, cloud-giant chef of the
Eternal Star. Together they went on many pursuits across Thera, some more
unsafe than others, yet all gifted her with the knowledge that she desired
so much. Occasionally she turned to the shadows and occasionally they
whispered back to her. Mavado had found a way to hide his aura from her,
but that did not make her feel fully safe around him. In fact, if anything,
that made her question his intents. She knew he was dangerous and of a
dark heart, but that did not keep her away, for there was always something
about him that drew her near.

When she was younger, she read the story of the sirine in the small books
of the Inn. She was fascinated with the story and that made her leave on a
new mission, to explore the oceans until she found the island of the
Sirines. Eventually she found it, along with other mysterious beings that
resided within the strange dwelling.

She continued to paint, of course, and had now completed five paintings.
She tried to make each painting completely different than the next, each
offering the observer a glimpse of the story hidden behind the image. The
news of the High Heralds death reached her not long after, which saddened
her and Eralsodiz asked her if she would be willing to create a painting
in the High Heralds honor. Mellinoe gladly accepted.

The terrible news of Mavado's death crushed her. For days she roamed the
darkest places, hoping the whispers were mistaken. It did not take her long
though to realize that the whispers were true and overnight a streak of her
hair grew completely white. A part of her heart died with Mavado, for he was
her passion and her creative inspiration. She did not know how to awaken a
passion like that inside her again after this loss and decided that in order
to endure, she would have to search for a new source of passion.
Yet her eyes never stopped searching the shadows.

Weighing of the Heart 1

Added Thu Jun 12 11:41:10 2014 at level 51:
And so she searched and searched, hoping that something would kindle the
passion within her once more, yet she found nothing. Joining with the
Heralds gave her the opportunity to develop her painting skills and the
company of the Inn helped her feel less lost. She felt the need often to
turn to her lord for guidance, but was hesitant because her shyness would
overpower her actions every time she would be in the presence of a divinity.
She did not hesitate guiding others to the temple of the Lucky Lord though
and often she would aid new Heralds that would come. Eralsodiz was around,
but often he would be gone days in search for fresh meats and rare, cooking
ingredients. Mak was fun to be around, but quite often his mind went absent
and Mellinoe would try to help him rest comfortably when he would pass out
from all the drinking. Being a bookworm herself, she found great pleasure
being in the company of the new scribe, Nayarn and hoped she would continue
to spend time with her when she was tending to the Lyceum.

She continued meeting beings that walked through different paths, one being
a Fire-Giant named Tralgdar who served under the Empire. Through him she
came to meet other Imperials as well, such as Nizrili and Drem. She quite
enjoyed watching Nizrili battle as he had a gift for it yet she was not so
sure of Drem's intents. She was aware that Tralgdar was possibly using
her for her healing skills, but she did not mind much as the journey was
always exciting enough to avert her thoughts from Mavado. Many, like the
dwarven Paladin Cionadh and Mak did not approve of her occasionally aiding
the Fire-Giant, but being a creature of the balance, Mellinoe could not see
anything wrong about her actions and she could not consider one an enemy
if they never did anything to make her believe it. Tralgdar never hurt
her and most Imperials she had met through her life like Vael and Ooglarr
never gave her reason to believe they were her rivals as she herself was
never an enemy to the Empire.

Weighing of the Heart 2

Added Thu Jun 12 11:43:13 2014 at level 51:
The darklings though were not the only beings she encountered, as she had
quite a few times enjoyed discussions with those who walk the path of
light, such as Corwyn Vitalis, a human Transmuter who feared a bizarre
crack that he felt when he would travel through dimensions and Rylium
Yerd'inas, an elven warrior of the Spire who liked to unwind at the Inn
when things were calm in the cities. During some studies, she came across
a passage that spoke of a place that one could go and enter the abyss. The
notion intrigued her deeply, but Mak told her that there no longer is a
path that could allow one passage to the abyss. He did speak of some cards
though, magical in their use as they would bring strange outcomes when used.
One of the effects he believed was a teleportation that would bring one
within the terrors of the abyss. The thought fascinated her to the point
where she wondered, even for just a second, if though a painting one could
open a portal to the abyss, or to any enchanted, extraordinary place.

Wishful thinking aside, Mellinoe continued her endless search, occasionally
turning her attention to the shadows, where her heart always remained.

The search for Inspiration

Added Tue Jul 1 14:12:08 2014 at level 51:
The years went on, bringing new memories and experiences to Mellinoe that
she never thought probable when she was a child. Her hunt for the thirteen
things needed for painting was not going as well as she hoped, and her years
were passing fast. She went on many explorations with Eralsodiz around Thera
assisting others in their missions or just drifting about. This occurred for
almost a year, before she decided her grieving for her lost passion would be
over and the time to create had come again. She went behind the Lyceum,
staring at an enormous, white canvas for days before her hands even reached
the brushes. She thought and thought, searching for her new source of
stimulation, when the image of her chuckling Lord came to her and her hand
moved on its own, reaching for the first brush. It took her days, but she
created a picture of the Lord of Luck so large and stunning, that she knew
instantaneously in her heart who she would gift her great painting to.

While on a venture with Eralsodiz, Ruakao and Kwoalewei, the news of Hughli
falling in battle reached her. She had been with her that very day and she
felt especially lucky that she got to spend some of her more final moments
with her. She knew she would miss Hughli greatly, so she painted again,
dedicating the portrait to her good friend who had passed on. For a while
she remained at the Inn as she found out that she could drink forever and
not get poisoned. The times when Mak would be there were rare and
few, but she enjoyed all of them none the less. She also found a new
addiction with gambling, in which even though she knew she was winning a
good amount of times, she felt somehow that the gambler was cheating her as
her peered with his mischievous grin from his deck of cards.

It was one night at the Inn, when she was in the company of Eralsodiz and
some wandering explorers, that the Emperor stepped forth from the shadows
and collapsed in the alcove. He spoke to Mellinoe's mind, asking her if
she was willing to restore him. Mellinoe knew the shadow lord Niji to be
merciless as he had assaulted her unseen before he was Emperor, yet she
went to him and healed him fully. He was a striking man and she got
especially nervous when the incident she was reliving was nearly similar
once more with the one in the Wharf when she was just a young girl. He
looked upon her with his intense, blue eyes, nodding and vanishing once
more. His last words to her that day were "I shall stop subjugating you
for now".

Another Embrace of Good Fortune.

Added Tue Jul 1 14:15:51 2014 at level 51:
She had reached sixty by the time she decided that she would go to her Lord
again for guidance. She did not wish to appear before him in the great
temple without what he had asked of her, but she really wished to gift him
the painting she had made, so she took the journey. Her Lord appeared and
from what she could tell, he was very delighted with the portrait. She was
then made a priestess of the Lucky Lord and named by him the Premiere
Painter of the Eternal Star which made her joyful beyond words. Her Lord also
gifted her with the ability to perfect her healing powers, which she was
grateful for beyond words.

As she worked on her new healing abilities, she wandered about helping
those who asked for her aid. It was one peculiar day in Hammsah Mu'tazz
when the Emperor invited her with him for a walk. The idea terrified her
and thrilled her at the same time and although she was hesitant at first,
the Emperor assured her he did not seek to harm her. She journeyed with
him across the desert, through the sands of sorrow to the pyramid she had
visited so long ago with Pliclic. There he summoned forth an army of
awakened shawtaby creatures, that followed them back to Hammsah Mu'tazz
where he thanked her and she returned to the temple. It was not every day
that one would spend time with the Emperor, mainly one that was not
an Imperial so Mellinoe was fascinated and thrilled that she got to see such
a man beckon forth an army who titled him Pharaoh as they bowed before him.
Mellinoe however never wanted for such power, but it always excited her to
see new phenomena that were veiled within Theras realms.

Passing Years and the coming of the Menagerie

Added Wed Jul 16 13:37:31 2014 at level 51:
By the time Mellinoe reach her 70th year of age, she had made a portrait
of Erighan, who had now become the Commander of Battle and several commissions
that included a portrayal for Mak and a painting for the Imperial Priest,
Ashmon Valaise. The Inn had a few collisions which Mak had caused with the
Emperor Niji, who placed Centurions upon the road while Mak continued to mock,
which Mellinoe did not think was appropriate as the dispute placed herself and
Eralsodiz is awkward positions, as they did not generally have problems with
those who served the Empire.
The flow of luck felt like it had taken a downward spiral all of a sudden.
Mak had done something very unwise as he aided the Fortress in an attack
against the Imperial Palace, which resulted to his retirement from the
Heralds. She met a human druid upon the main road that lead to the Inn, who
spoke to her in a manner she had never before experienced, before stealing
from her, her first kiss. Affection flared within her with this experience,
sending a flutter within her abdomen. Beings from a bizarre place known as
the Menagerie started appearing within the Inn while Mellinoe and Eralsodiz
were on an ordinary exploration. The first of them that arrived was named
Ainaele, who was sent forth before all the others started emerging. She
seemed to be their leader, known to her own kind as Chatelaine. She did not
remember what had transpired before she awoke within Thera, but she was
searching for a Caravan that was to appear upon the open plains near the Inn.
The Caravan rejected her when she went near, then materialized upon a few
other places in Thera before disappearing. Mellinoe was not present at and
the account was given to her by the Emperor Niji. She believed that collecting
that moment information and sharing it with the other Heralds was vital, so
she gathered all she could while she met a few of the Menagerie and shared
it with the rest. All seemed thrilling an fascinating and she met beings of
remarkable traits and talents, as an elven maiden who could foretell the future,
a very large giant who could not sate his hunger no matter how much he ate, a
very peculiar gnome named Diri, who she became fond of because of her cheery,
fearless spirit, a man named Ignatio who played with fire and an arial acrobat
who gave her a magnificent, small performance. At first arrival she was excited
with the coming of those from the Menagerie.
