Description

Just over five feet in height this man has dark olive skin, and irises so dark that his pupils seem to disappear. His eyes are slightly almond shapped and are evenly spaced around a short, hooked nose. His hair is jet black and pulled back into a long braid. There are no visible scars upon his well muscled frame, though he does sport two angelic tatoos, one on the back of each hand. These are done in a blue ink that gives off a slight glow. His skin has a weathered look though not overly so, as though perhaps he spent much time outside, but perhaps in a more mild climate. Looking closer you see that....

Subject Clan Takanogoshi
Abstract: 

Takanogoshi clan resides on a hidden Island deep in the Dragon
Sea, that is hidden by strong magics.  They profess allegiance
to the Fortress of Light, but no direct contact has been made 
with those Light Blinded fools in years.  The father is strong
in the guild of conjuration and has three children who, if not
taken care of soon, will grow to surpass their father in power
within their respective guilds.  Immediate action should be 
taken to remove this threat to the Empire. The Takanogoshi clan
also employ a small group of mercenaries in their war against the
empire.

Subject one: 
Name: Yehiro Takanogoshi
Profession: Conjurer
Threat Level: Extreme

The father of the clan.  Blindly walking in the Light and
opposing the will of the Emperor at every opportunity. Should
be treated with utmost care when Intervening.  Able to call 
the strongest of beings from the heavens and additionally wields
some magics here-to-fore unseen in the Empire

Subject two:
Name: Rorin Takanogoshi
Profession: Assassin
Threat Level: High

Oldest son, devoid of magic, but possessing great physical
prowess.  This one would have made a great addition to the
ranks of our shadows were he not so blindly bound to the
Light.  This one is especially adept at striking from the
shadows.  It will make incursion by surprise difficult

Subject three:
Name Chaorin Takanogoshi
Profession: Warrior
Threat Level: Medium

The Middle son, also devoid of magic, but this one is extremely
intelligent.  His preferred weapon is the dagger, though he is
dangerous with any weapon.  His abilities combined with the 
others of the family make him a threat, though less than the
others.

Subject four:
Name: Miyo Takanogoshi
Profession: Unknown
Threat level: Unknown

The youngest son.  This one is the only of the sons to possess
any magical aptitude, however, it is unknown at this time to
what extent.  Being young, it may be possible to turn this one
if proper measures are taken.  However caution should be exercised.

Recommendation:

A two pronged assault on the Island, beginning with a group of
elite Shadows followed with an assault combining blades, and
divine sect to ensure that none escape.

A fathers last words

It started silently.  Miyo woke at the soft sound of fabric
moving across the hard wood of the floor.  More aware of
the presence than anything else, he moved quickly just as
the dagger fell into the his bed.  Quickly moving to a
safe range as his brother had taught him, Miyo assessed
the situation.  There was one attacker in the room, moving
with an obvious grace that told Miyo he was much like his
oldest brother in training.  Miyo knew he should should, but
the words would not come.  Fear held his throat tightly.

The man stalked in with a purpose, moving forward and thinking
his prey an easy one.  Miyo raised his hand and with all his 
might shouted the words he had just learned from his father.
Brilliant shards of light leapt from his fingers and struck
the man in the chest.  Just then the door slammed open and 
Rorin stepped in, moving with a cat like grace, Rorid stepped
forward and plunged his sword through the mans back. 

"Come brother, our father wishes you with him" Rorin said.

Miyo was stunned at the effectiveness of his brother in combat
and the ease at which he brushed away the death.  Blundering 
out the door then, the whole compound errupted into battle.
Men fighting everywhere.  The warriors of the Takanogoshi clan
fought well, but the numbers brought by the Empire, were almost
five times that of the clan.

The brothers ran through the fray to the main chambers of the
house.  There their father stood, flanked by a tall angelic
figure, and an tower of flames, that seemed ready to set the 
place ablaze at any moment.  Before him were three scrolls
on the floor of the room.

"My sons, each of you, I love more than life itself.  Now is
the time.  Something that I have seen coming for years.  I
have done what I can to prepare us, but to my sorrow, the 
Empire has grown much too strong for just our small family to
be able to battle.  I have prepared a scroll of instructions
and my last words for each of you.  I will hold off this hoard
for as long as I can, so that you may get to safety.  Each of
you will then read your scrolls and understand what is next for
you.  Make ready."

Miyo watched as his brothers moved forward and each picked up
a scroll, to Stunned to move.

"Miyo, come boy, gather your scroll.  I will take you first."

Miyo stumbled forward and picked up his scroll.  His father 
reached down and placed a hand upon his shoulder, a blinding
flash then, and when he was able to open his eyes again, Miyo
found himself standing in the middle of a city that he had 
never before seen.

"Read your scroll son.  Know that my love will always follow you."

Another flash and Miyo was alone.  Moments passed, and Miyo broke
the seal on his scroll and began to read....

A fathers last words

Ahh, My son.  The youngest, and often times dearest to my
heart.  One of my greatest sorrows is that your mother did
not get to see you become the young man that you have.  Most
would think that the youngest might be pampered, or even
perhaps a bit jaded.  But you were not.  You took everything
in as it came and perservered in the face of so many trials
that our family faced.  You have grown strong, and among
my sons were the only to receive some of my talents.  I say
some, because if you are reading this, I may not be there to
determine the full extent of your potential, though the father
in me wished you to be great, the pragmatist says you must be
yourself, and only time will tell what greatness lies within
you.

I have done my best to raise you boys to know the Light from
the Darkness.  I have taken your brothers into battle with me
and seen first hand the power of the Takanogoshi family. If you
have even a spark of that power, you will be great, and I believe
your flame may outshine all of ours combined.  But enough of the
proud ramblings of a father.

If my plans have worked out, you will find yourself reading this
standingin in front of the guild of Conjurers in a city known
as Voralia.  I have made arrangments for you to apprentice there.
This city is a bright beacon in a dark land my son.  You will
do well to make it your home.  Learn well there and one day
you may find your true potential.

I know it will be hard on you.  Losing your family, but you must
persevere.  You will feel alone at times, but know that we will
always be with you in spirit even though we cannot be there in
body.  Your brothers have other tasks before, them.  Very dangerous
ones.  Likely you will never see them again.  Do not fear for
them, they know what they fight for.

I would not have you walk the lands alone however.  When you are
old enough, you should make your way into the mountains to the
northwest of your new home.  There you will find a great Fortress.
Standing before this place make your pledge.  We Takanogoshis are
warriors at heart, you will do well to bring your talents and 
powers to the Brigade.  Seek them out son, and you will have the
family that you need.

Lastly son, you should take up your name into battle, the Empire
grows daily and their taint spreads across the land.  Never let 
your guard down.  Understand that everything you have been taught
up until now has been in preparation for this day.  Make your
way my son.

Subject Raid of Clan Takanogoshi

Abstract:
Our raid was moderatly successful.  Preliminary reports are that
expendable casualties are greater than originaly predicted, however
Clan Takanogoshi is now without their leader.  Estimates are sketchy
however, we believe that two hundred blades, fifty, divine, and 
30 shadow were lost in the battle against overwhelming odds.  It 
is expected that the force on the island was more than one thousand
strong.  Targets specified in the scouting report were all taken
with one exception.  Target four was able to escape through magical
transportation as the battle began.  Though not thought to be a 
significant threat, this target should be sought out to ensure that
the job is finished.  It is believe that the target will be found
in the vicinity of Voralia, though our current forces are unable
to give chase at the moment.  Of note, should be that before succombing
to our forces, Master Takanogoshi was able to destroy all but the
most simple of items within the island.  Nothing of worth was left
to return to the Empire.

Subject: Raid of Clan Takanogoshi

Abstract:
The Blade Marcos will report to you that our raid was successful,
and insomuch as most of the targets were eliminated he will be correct.
However, it should be noted that our losses are at least double what
he has reported, and the size of the enemy forces were no more than
a tenth of what is being reported.  Additionally, target four was 
allowed to escape the island.  This is of some concern to the sect, as
this one seems to have had some potential to achieve the level of mastery
over magic as the father.  If this is the case, he should not be allowed
to live.  As for the imbicil Marcos, he should be executed on site.  This
one is a fool, and wasted much of the Empires resources with foolish 
tactics.  The shadow sect will begin immediately the search for the
one known as Miyo Takanogoshi.  We will report when this threat has 
been eliminated.

Roleplay Summary

Miyo is the youngest of three talented children, though
only he possessed an aptitude for magic.  He spent much 
of his life wishing he were as physically adept as his
brothers, looking up to them in many ways.  Never truly
realizing the powers that he might one day wield.  Never
the jaded boy, never truly spoiled as their life was too
austere to permit such.  

Dedication to what one learned was paramount in the family.
Being the best, and learning from mistakes were how one 
grew.  Kindness was an intrinsic trait in Miyo until the
day of the raid.  Now, he struggles with the visions of 
that day, and the though he doesn't know the outcome of
the rest of the raid, he strongly suspects he is the last
living Takanogoshi.  This puts an immense strain upon him to 
live up to the family name in all things.

He will follow the path of strength, purity and fire, knowing
that these three things are what can forge a man to become
more than what he might otherwise have been capable of.

A strong undertone in Miyo's life will be that all those
he has loved, he has lost.  He will do anything to protect
those he comes to feel are like family.  Including sacrificing
himself to do so.  Strong regret will come if there is ever
an opportunity to do so and he is unable to aid.

The Dream

Miyo's sleep was fitful that night, tossing and turning
he finaly feel into the dream not long before dawn. 

Standing on the beaches of what used to be his island, 
Miyo was a child again.  This time, instead of the sweeping
compound that he remembered from his childhood, all that
was left was a barren desert.  Looking up he saw his father
standing next to him, reaching down to take his hand.

"Miyo, this is not your home anymore.  There is nothing here
for you.  Come, let me take you to your new home, your new 
family."

In a flash, they were standing before a large fugure dressed
entirely in gray metal, standing before an emense white
Fortress.

"This Miyo will be your place.  Here you will find a new
family.  You will stand with them, and they with you in the
battle against the Darkness.  Ahh, here, the Lord Twist has
granted me one wish before I pass beyond."  Miyos father 
nodded towards the door.

From within the depths of the Fortress came a light brown
Plains Coyote, walking nimbly to stand next to Miyo.

"He will be your companion Miyo, treat him well, and he will
be a guardian and help to you for all your life." Said his
father.

As Miyo looked from the Coyote to his father, he noticed that
his father was starting to lose substiantiality.  Becoming as
a mist.

"Remember Miyo.  Remember who you are.  Remember your heritage.
Remember why you are here."  Said that ghost of Miyo's father.

"Remember!" 

And he was gone.  A slight tugging at his sleeve caused Miyo
to look down.  The Coyote had grabbed the sleeve of his shirt
and was tugging him towards the Fortress.

Miyo and the Coyote walked in, never looking back.

Roleplay update.

Miyo has been inducted into the Halls of the Fortress.
He has fought many battles thus far, won some, lost some.
He has learned more about tactics and the use of judicious
withdrawl.  Something he struggles with still, but is working
on.

As a memeber of the Fortress now, Miyos actions will be guided
by the following standards:

1) Retrieve the Orb if it is not within the Fortress
2) If the Fortress holds the orb. Hunt the Dark hearts, 
in this order of importance for Miyo
A) Imperials
B) Scions
C) Other Dark hearts
3) If there are no targets to hunt, and it is possible to do so,
gather the Codex, and the Scepter.
4) If all else is complete, he feels free to complete other 
Activities.
