Description
You gaze upon a gigantic humanoid with skin the color
of charcoal, red streaks mark heavily muscled forearms.
Further examination reveals the red lines to be hairs
that make the arms look like deeply burned tree trunks.
The red hair is matched in a neatly braided and long
beard that seems like a waterfall of fire, below a
slightly parted mouth that reveals sharply filed teeth.
Beneath the maelstrom of fiery hair that crowns this
giant, purple colored eyes gaze about with great
intensity and barely constrained cruelty. As your gaze
travels further down the body of this giant you notice
a series of unusual metal tools and pouches hanging
from a leather belt around his waist.
Role
Step one, kidnap bard.

*Thunk* a loud groan of pain can be heard on the trail to the inn of the
eternal star. From the doorstep of the inn, the guard grimaces from seeing a
big fire giant wearing heavy plate mail throwing around some miserable bard
that was hoping to sing at the inn for some coins; unable to leave his post
to assist him, he resigns himself to hear as much of the conversation as he
can.
-Morderak say bard write Morderak story, Morderak art famous, art praised
Gods!- The giant says angrily as he lifts the battered bard by his tunic and
presses him again against the trunk of the tree *thunk*.-B-but I told you, I
am not a historian, I just know how to sing popular songs...-The fire giant
raises an eyebrow as he asks -Know write?-The bard, redfaced from being
choked by his own tunic nods furiously.-Aright, den comin wid meh-. The
guard of the inn grimaces again as he sees the giant grab the bard by the
scruff of the neck like a kitten, and drags him away somewhere to write his
life's story.
Morderak's youth was similar to most fire giant children in Mount Kiadna-Rah,
naturally gifted with physical prowess he was ordered to train with other
children that would one day get to become warriors of the village in the
volcano. To Morderak all his earlier life was a joyless physical grind,
which he navigated in an emotionless fashion; Used to following the orders
of his instructors like an empty-hearted zombie he just didn't want the
annoyance of being reprimended. Wake up, eat, train with the instructors, eat
and sleep again.
The biggest change in his life at that time, which came completely by
chance, was when he became an apprentice to the village torturer. Apparently
a particularly bellicose prisoner had slain the previous apprentice and
Morderak just happened to be walking by at the right time. The dumbfounded
young giant just went with it, used as he was (and still is) to following
orders. At first he just seemed confused as he learned the names and uses of
the "tools of the trade", but on a particularly bloody interrogation his
world turned from a lifeless gray to a volcanic explosion of captivating
colors, shapes and textures as he regarded open mouthed and saucer-eyed the
gruesome aftermath on the floor and walls of the torture chamber.
Step two, make bard write.

-Huh, so you are some kind of artist?-, asked the battered bard to his fire
giant "employer" scribbling on a small pile of parchment as they sat around
a table in an inn from Dagdan.*Bang* the table shuddered as Morderak banged
a meaty fist on it. -Morderak, nah sum artist!!, Morderak art seen Gods,
nah art like Morderak art-.-Alright, alright..., anyway why did you leave
the volcano?-. Shruging nonchalantly the giant says -Morderak need see moar
color, make art better. Only thing Morderak like in life be art, bettah art
den Morderak moar alive-. Nodding slowly and pointing with his quill in the
general direction of the fire giant he asks -So, why become a warrior?, and
why the swords?-. Shrugging again Morderak answers -Sumtime material fight
back, an sword good guttin an skinning prey. Also art nah pay well an
Morderak work guard caravan get coin sumtime. But dat afore, Morderak guard
city fah Spire now-. Throughly confused the bard asks -So...you hunt people
to make art with their corpses...but...make sure they are safe in the
cities....?-. Grinning widely and pointing a finger to his head Morderak
answers -Yah, Morderak smarts. City like farm, make material fat, teeth
shiny, skin soft an gud....Den outside city gut an skin good stuff fer
Morderak art-. Nodding slowly the improvised historian tries to follow the
giant's logic -Okay...,and you keep mentioning that the Gods have seen your
art?-. Smiling proudly, Morderak begins to absentmindedly monologue in great
detail on how he petitioned to join the spire directly to the Goddess Ishuli
by presenting to her a drawing "enhanced" with the remains of one of his
victims. Nodding constantly as he attempts to scribe the flurry of details
of this and the previous stories, the bard does his best to please his
employer with his penmanship.
Morderak's musings on muses

As birds whistle merrily from the crown of trees that surround a well-trodden
path that leads to a certain inn; a garishly dressed individual walks slowly
turning his head constantly in all directions as if expecting an ambush. From
the entrance of the inn, the guard watches amusedly until he notices a hulking
giant enter the forested path and heading in the same direction as the bard
and towards his workplace. With a grimace the guard whispers 'Not again...'.
Too late, does the bard notice the fire giant that is almost upon him. With
eyes like saucers, his knees fail him and stumbles to the ground, backpedaling
to try to save his hide from the beating that is sure to come, he whimpers'No...
not again...don't hurt me...ill write for you...you don't have to hurt me...'.
With a confused look in his face the giant just looks at him with an eyebrow
raised in confusion, 'Wut?, Morderak nah need sum bard...Morderak master art
scribe.'With that the giant continues nonchalantly towards the inn, as the bard
just stares in disbelief 'Y-You don't need me?...', after a second of thinking
about the situation in his head, he mutters to himself and yells 'Wait, I won't
charge you!, at least let me hear your story!'.
'And you say there were works of art all over the place?''Yah, many paintings
an sculpture ewhere...' mesmerized the bard nodded along as he drank deeply from
a tankard of ale resting on their table.'So...what did the God of Passion say
to you?'.Looking up from the sketch he was working on, his fiery eyes seemed
to get lost in the distance of his memories as he solemnly says'Talk long, ask
how Morderak Art begin...an what Morderak art mean tah Morderak. Think Lich
God Gaspare ppreciate Morderak Art, specially likes elf painting, bah wanted
know where in Morderak da Morderak Art born. Morderak dink Lich God Gaspare
sayin look where Morderak art come an make explode like volcano, dink wut muse
be. Morderak dink long on wut muse be...,dink muse mean where morderak art come
from.'

Taking a long gulp from the ale the bard nods and jokingly says 'Well, if
the quest that the God of Passion and art gave you, is to think on something like
this, then he must really like to inflict pain...'. Morderak just nods in
agreement, completely unaware that he was mocked, until a connection was made in
his mind and he turns sharply upon the bard and asks 'Wut last ting say...?'.
Fearing the giant had taken offense the bard just mumbles 'N-nothing just that
your god must like to inflict pain'. Nodding to himself Morderak mutters 'Yah,
inflict pain...pain...Morderak dink looong loong time wut all Morderak art have...
wut be dat Morderak art make Morderak art...An it be PAIN....'with eyes shining
with an unusual vigor he continues 'Da moar pain in Morderak art, da moar meaning
an da moar Morderak enjoy....It be like Morderak make pain last forevah an for
Morderak enjoy forevah...cuz Morderak Art for Morderak.' In noticeable uncomfort
the bard asks'So you are saying that your muse...the inspiration for your art...is
pain....'. The giant just nods in determination.'But what about the whole thing
about using body parts, bloods and excrement in your paintings?'. With a wink he
answers 'Dat jus Morderak genious'. The bard shrugs and continues 'Okay..okay..but
how are you going to cause pain for your art if you have to protect them in the
cities?. After a loud snort Morderak says 'Yah, Morderak best guard cities..bah..
Morderak kill all dem criminals in cities..an can kills dhose nah in cities when
wants fah art. An cities give coin Morderak fah guardin, Morderak buy material an
dhings fah makin materials' all the while hitting the palm of his right hand with
one of his hammers to make his point.
Shrugging and nodding the bad asks'So...,why did you choose maces as a weapon to
study?' Grinning widely the giant says 'Morderak walkin round farm an see farmer
hit cow ova head wid hammer, afore guttin an cutting hide. So made senses try do
same fah mah prey'. With the color draining noticeably from his face the bard
stands up 'Riiight...you know...I think I have to go..but...thank you for telling
me more about you...bye!'.
As the guard of the inn watches the bard leave hurriedly but unharmed from the
encounter, he says to himself 'seems like things are getting interesting'.
