Description

A tattered silk robe wraps around the emaciated body of a dark elf woman. Small patches of scarred, black skin are visible beneath her robe and the light armor she wears. Cruel fingernails sharpened like claws tip long fingers that betray the training of either a mage or a thief. Her hair is a dark grey, and eyes, while a violet color have a slightly-feral hint to them. When not in use, she seems to instinctualy wrap her arms about herself, almost as if hugging her frail body. There is an almost universal look of contempt present on her face, and while she seems to study everything around her intently, one gets the feeling she wishes she were elsewhere.

Role

The Dream

Added Sat Jul 30 19:15:21 2005 at level 41:
Mysterious beings of Smoke and Ash surround her bed the night after her
ascendance to the position of First Princess of the Third House. They
smother her and she breathes in the gases and a vision unfolds:

She is the Matron of the First House now, and sits upon a throne of
adamantite, a mountain of wealth surrounding her. A flash of blinding light,
like that from the Surface Sun fills the throne room. When it clears, her
throne has been turned to stone and the treasures gone, only sprinkling of
Ash and Dust left.

Furious, she orders the House to find the source of the light and her
fortune. A trail of Ash leads to a large, underground lake. Clerarly at the
bottom lies all of her wealth. She orders her slaves into the water to get
the wealth, but they refuse. Bending their will, she drives them into the
lake only to have them drown with the treasures in their hands.

Angrily, she prepares herself to breath water and steps into the lake. As
her knees descend into the icy cold of the lake, it changes suddenly, and her
legs are held immobile. An excruciating pain courses through her body and
she looks down to see the lake has changed into pure mithril. Her wailing
reaches no friendly ears and her torment is eternal.

She wakes to a cold sweat. Was this a trick of a rival House? A vision sent
by an unknown force? Or merely a dream within a dream?

Ruin

Added Sat Jul 30 19:16:28 2005 at level 41:
Years pass from the time of the Nightmare. She succeeds in placing herself
as Matron of the Third House, House Ul'Zetherah, a remarkable feat for one so
young.

Confidently, she expends much of her Houses resources in amassing a fortune
for herself. Such things do not go unnoticed in Teth Azeleth, however, and
the Matron of the First House takes it upon herself to attack while she was
weak.

She flees into the smoke of her ruining House. Mind blank with terror, she
finds herself on the Surface, sick and punished by the terrible Sun. Using
her magic to save her, she curses the Underground and the fate which had
befallen her.

Rebuilding

Added Sat Jul 30 19:17:54 2005 at level 41:
In the beginning, the very sight of coinage, jewels, wealth makes her sick.
She begins fading to a shadow of what she once was, emaciated and at times
delirious.

Slowly, she begins rebuilding herself. She starts again in the magic guilds
of the surface. She steals food to live off of, and secrets herself away in
dark caves when the brightest days come.

Dreams of razing walls and burning cities begin to fill her mind, and she
learns of the Outlanders of Thar-Eris from a felled foe.

Affinities

Added Sat Jul 30 19:19:16 2005 at level 41:
She is most comfortable with Air, Fire, Earth and Ooze. She delights in the
destruction acid lays forth, the flames of Fire, shattering stone, and
unpredictability of the winds.

Ice and Lightning are much less familiar to her. Though she pursues them and
uses the elements often, they are not something she understands nearly as
well.

Water. After the dream, she has feared experimenting with it too much, and
it is something she understands little.

The mysteries of Smoke, Ash, and Magma intrigue her, but she has had little
chance to learn much of them.

Thar-Eris, Greed

Added Sat Jul 30 19:24:52 2005 at level 41:
She pursues and learns of these Outlanders. She is skeptical at first, but
drawn by the promises of destruction and misery visited upon her foes.

She approaches the Nightreaver, a fire giant that, while dim-witted shows
surprising insight in some areas. She is welcomed into the Tree of Ancients
and learns new skills to survive on her own and visit ruin upon civilization.

It is difficult at first, but eventually she hits her stride, and begins
advancing in power rapidly. Wit this power, the desire for wealth and
fortune (of a different but persistent kind) grows. At times she realizes
this, and worries whether again it will be her downfall.

The Ancients of Venom grant her more knowledge and a primal urge to harm and
lay plague to the places where men exchange coins fills her, battling with
the desire for power and fortune for dominance.
