Description
Large, and hulking with ebon fur, Mwauka stands a forboding eight feet and
three inches in height. One horn chipped, it only serves to menace with a
twin pair of jagged edges, later sharpened, improving the minotaur's natural
weapons by sheer happenstance. Void-black from horntip to hooves, this
minotaur carries himself with a tense restraint, straight-backed and
martial, exuding an air of vigilance. Tightly strung, his apparel appears
obsessively maintained and polished, gleaming when metal and oiled when
leather.

Misshapen Soul

Born a struggling whelp in the vicinity of Seantryn Modan as most minotaur
are, Mwauka grew through strife and conflict but was instilled with a pensive,
thoughtful nature from birth. Horn chipped from a squabble over food with
another minotaur, who nearly broke Mwauka's neck with his warhammer, the
experience brought Mwauka, at fifteen, into a contemplative mood. Why was
there so much fighting and death? Was there not enough for all to share? How
had Mwauka been born into this world? After study and research, inhibited by
illiteracy that took years of study to outgrow, Mwauka discovered the birthing
rites of minotaur. Shaken by the knowledge that he was the product of sorcery,
blood magic, and ritual sacrifice, he found himself with the strange urge -
the urge to write about it. He had read books of prose and poetry to teach
himself to read, and realised that - despite his misshapen mouth - he could
communicate through letters just as these books did. In shaky hand, he wrote
upon a stolen parchment - 'No matter which one. Who malformed my mortal soul?
I punish my birth.' His mind was clear. He wished to join the Battleragers, to
stop monstrous souls like him - which he had read were barred from heaven, no
matter his deeds in life - from being created through disgusting sorcery.
Taking up a polearm and joining the warrior's guild, and the Theran academy,
he trains to harness his bloodlust into true goals, living for a reason that
was not mere survival - to try and make a difference in the world by stamping
out the rot of magic. In like manner, he seeks to prostate himself before the
religion of Rarywey, to further his understanding of souls, the cycle of life,
and his newfound passion for poetry and writing.
The End is the Beginning

Venturing forth into the world, Mwauka quickly acquires the attention of both
the Divine and the servants of the Divine, two paladins. Due to their
kindness, and sparring with the storm giant, Mwauka was left with an
appreciation of these representatives of the Light that would show him grace
despite his origin. However, he was summoned by Rarywey, the goddess he had
propositioned in worry about the state of his soul, in the midst of the
paladin aiding Mwauka in hunting a necromancer for his Pledge in Voralian
City. His conversation with Rarywey brought him new perspective on both his
own existance and on what the Light was. After all, he would trust deity over
the preaching of mortals. Agreeing to write poetry about his first mage kill,
he departs the presence of the Drowned and hunts mages for quite some time, in
exasperation asking them to duel because of their prowess at being invisible -
and his very, very loud hoofbeats approaching them warning them to flee every
time! This was not accepted until Eyteliana, a new Herald pledge, quite
literally locked horns - due to her shapeshifting - with Mwauka under the
understanding he would seek knowledge of who EXACTLY created the minotaurs,
and HOW, and to place his findings within the Lyceum's library. While this
wasn't something he'd planned on, instead wanting to write poetry about
himself and his own experiences in life, Mwauka knew that he would probably
have pursued this research anyway at some point just to find which mages he
had to crush, and accepted, soon standing victorious over the body. He
returned to Tahren in triumph, and began to officially be considered an
Applicant, penning his poem - a triplet of haiku. The minotaur preferred
writing in haiku. The limited nature of the poems, forced to be constrained by
syllable, appealed to his dim grasp of fine arts. In restriction, he found
more freedom in his expression. He clutches the painstakingly written letter
in his hands, hoping to show it to his Goddess when next they meet, which
reads as follows:
Horns clash together
A mountain compared to hills
Equal, unnatural.
Eyteliana.
Shapeshifting scholar of lore
locked horns with honor.
Garden of Dagdan
Stained by a woman's pure blood
marks the covenant.
A Full Villager

Raising in title slow due to his appreciative gesture towards Tethnaruuk and
Gwendelya that he *wouldn't* slaughter a score of elves, Mwauka fruitlessly
attempts to hunt mages for many days. Terath continually reminds him that he
needs one more head to become a true berserker, and he replies with patience,
refusing the requests to join the scouts or defenders because Mwauka believes
in his own patience and that a mage will slip up someday. In the course of
this, he spoke with Terath about the Village and Mwauka's ignorance of it
beyond it being 'hate mages', and Terath coaxed out Mwauka's backstory from
him. Terath was so impressed by this that he let Mwauka join as a full
Battlerager despite not getting a second mage kill. Ranking with the frost
giant Mirkiga or the Herald assassin Darvel, he works on mastering his martial
skills so that he can seek the mysteries of minotaur creation and the death of
transmuters and shapeshifters, which remain the passions of his soul. He needs
more opportunities to write poetry, after all.
