Description

The graceful form a black figure is here looking dirty with splotches of deep, dark mud. Pale ivory claws gleam in the light with two piercing yellow eyes that sit motionless. He has armor protecting vital points on his body but little of it restricts his movements. The thick fur on his body looks to be very protective from the elements. It is not plush and soft fur, but rather damp and dirty holding a uniform black color with very faint spots of lighter and darker black that give him depth in surrounding terrains. Looking over him closer you notice his whiskers change from a white to black almost instantaneously as he breathes.

"Where are the others!" screamed the robed man. As he focused his fury at the
furry black form he lifted his head and motioned to another man in similar
robes. The second man placed a damp canvas sheet over the head of the felar
and began pouring water over the canvas. The felar writhed in convulsions and
his whiskers would stick through the canvas as he shook his head. The canvas
would be lifted and the question would repeat.


Over and over.


For hours upon hours.


After the second day the robed men threw the canvas and buckets of water to
the side and began constructing a large fire outside. One would gather wood
and the other would stack it in a particular order. The felar could hear
talks about a hot iron rod in a very uncomfortable place and decided now was
his time.  His arms were above his head and his paws were tied together as
his body was horizontal on a water logged wooden bench. The ropes were so
tight when they were wet, but the heat from his body was slowly drying them.
In his constant struggle to pull at the ropes he had managed to stretch the
fibers. The fur on his wrists was pulled off in the friction and the skin
beneath was raw and red. While the two men were outside he slowly pulled and
he could feel the rope give as he used what little strength he had left.

A beautiful vision

Nari had done it. He pulled the fur from his right paw in the process, but
one paw free soon became two, and then his hind paws were free too. There was
only one problem, the two men were outside and this building had only one
door. They were keeping him in an abandoned mill with a water wheel on the
inside that was slowly pushed by the stream below. It was the most horrific
contraption hes ever seen. He looked at the door and then back at the water
wheel.

"N-no, I-I cant!" he thought to himself. Tears started to pour from his eyes
and his breathing became erratic. He looked at the door and back at the water
wheel. He began to tremble uncontrollably. What little will power he had
quickly left him as he became incontinent all over the floor.  In that moment he
thought about dying and letting the pains consume him. However, he quickly
turned his thoughts to his family; his mother and father. These evil humans
wanted his parents and the rest of the felar of his village as slaves, but
the entire village escaped capture and was hiding out in Blackclaw. The
humans did not know this, but Nari did and had been resisting the torture as
best as he could. Now, in this vital moment where he cannot find the courage
to escape, he closed his eyes. When he closed his eyes he briefly saw the
image of a beautiful woman. It was a beauty he could barely comprehend but
when he opened his eyes his fear was gone, he saw the water wheel and no
longer feared its buckets of churning water. He held on to a bucket and let
it submerge him and calmly swam to the shore opposite the mill. He crawled
into the woods which soon became a wet marshland where he climbed into a
great big cypress tree and fell asleep.

above him in a cloudless sky. From high up in his cypress he could see a tiny

great growling cry filled the night air as Nari snarled and soon became
drowned out by the noise of cicada bugs, bullfrogs, and other marshland
creatures.  On his journey to Blackclaw, he vowed to himself to find the

cleansed him in a way, and he saw the world differently. He would spend the
rest of his days living off of the swamps and jungles of Thera. In the middle
