Description
You see an entity, horrible and beautiful at the same time. It's tall and
fully wrapped in bandages, except for the eyes. There, where a normal
human would have eyeballs, two giant-sized emeralds are pulsing with
unhealthy, sickly, green glow. In accompaniment to those 'eyes', bandages
on his face are decorated with hundreds of other rare gemstones. Those
gems are creating a royal-looking mask that reminds of a demonic mosaic.
On his chest, you see another giant, fist-sized ruby that seems to be
embedded into his bandages and probably his very body... if there is a
body at all, under all those bandages. This ruby is also pulsing, like a
heartbeat, and diamonds that surrounds this 'heart' are reflecting that
light.
He behaves like a ruler: slightly arrogant, confident, commanding and
demanding. His voice is literally booming in your head, as like he uses
no physical means to talk at all, projecting words straight into your
mind. And usually, those words are darker than black, ready to taint, or
even subdue, souls of the weak.
Role
Dark Awakening
Added Sun Jan 29 09:51:17 2017 at level 15:
Neferefre woke up. He had no idea why that happened, he should have been
dead. But he was alive, and darkness surrounded him. He could barely
breathe due to lack or the air. He tried to stretch his arm, but couldn't
- he was bandaged. Memories slowly were returning to his shattered mind.
He died, then he was mummified and buried, like other pharaohs. But why
his ba, his soul, haven't left his ka, his body, as it was supposed to
happen?
He managed to break bandages that appeared to be so old that easily
crumbled under his force. Stone lid of the sarcophagus was ancient and
shattered, and Neferefre managed to open it from inside. It appears that
many, many years, or even ages, have passed since his death.
He looked around and discovered some weird creature watching him from the
shadows. It appeared to be the Conservator, ageless being that turned
necromancers into the much more powerful beings - living mummies. Magic
that he has used in his catacombs awakened Neferefre, brought his ba back
into his ka. Sensing that, Conservator arrived at the Pyramid, where
Neferefre was buried, to meet the weird guest, and to instruct him.
Everything has changed since his reign in the desert city. No more
pyramids, no more pharaoh's dynasty or people. All that has gone
thousands of years ago, and instead, there was Empire. Neferefre was not
a pharaoh anymore, but just a weird, half-human, half-mummy, unfinished
product of the ancient necromancy.
There were only two options for Neferefre: to give up and die or to
become a student of necromancy himself, gain power and knowledge, and
become powerful mummy himself. Should he decline that, his body would
soon crumble into a dust.
No need to say that Neferefre, former ruler of the sands, former pharaoh,
wouldn't give up. Beside that, the mystery of his awakening, return of
his ba, puzzled him and he thought it might be a will of his ancient
gods, who has gone long ago. Perhaps he is one to awaken them, or perhaps
he is one to rule the new world, who knows. He'll know when the time
comes, but now, it's time to start from the beginning.
This is how Neferefre became a student of Necromancy, and, truth to be
told, he loved that new art and power that it granted him. This new world
was full of possibilities and who would benefit from them more than
Neferefre, who was a pharaoh himself?
Blood and Empire
Added Mon Jan 30 04:20:54 2017 at level 26:
The first thing that we must know about Neferefre it is his physical
condition after his awakening. He slept thousands of years and when he
woke, his skin was dry as an old, crumbling papyrus. When his ba joined
ka, blood began to circulate. But his skin was so thin that even a tiny
wound caused serious bleeding that could become lethal at any given time.
That made Neferefre a very repulsive - and very careful necromancer and
forced him to seek undeath with fervor.
But every coin has two sides. His devotion to the dark magic, his weird
and fearful appearance made him welcomed not only in higher ranks of the
Necromancy guild, but also in the very Empire. He quickly took the
bloodoath, realizing that it will be a perfect start for achieving what
he have lost - authority. He'll eventually take the throne, and he will
rule Thera as before.
Perfection, Ishuli and Shawtabies
Added Thu Feb 9 09:06:48 2017 at level 33:
Old Gods that Neferefre was praying were all gone. No one even heard
about them - Anubis, Ra, Osiris, and many many others. New Gods were
ruling the heavens and abyss, but none of them were of interest... until
new one made known herself. Ishuli, goddess of perfection and order,
knowledge and intelligence. She reminded Neferefre of Maat, goddess of
justice that he knew, and Nephythys, goddess-protector of the dead. He
worshiped them in his previous life, and decided to worship Ishuli in
this, newfound existence. Perfection in the art of Necromancy became his
main goal, and achieving final state of mummification would be the sign
of his success.
Meanwhile, his research in Necromancy was going relatively well. He found
a way to create shawtabies in this life, while other pharaohs could have
them only after they would die. Instead of carved stone statues, he used
dead bodies. Through his art, he managed to return their part of their Ka
to their corpses and tie it wit their Ba. Though not that sentient as
shawtabies should be, those were stronger. With unnatural fierce, those
shawtabies were serving their master Neferefre and protected him against
his enemies. Sometimes they were trying to speak, though not very often
and only when the Veil was thin. Their words have usually been a mystery,
and Neferefre treated them as som weird and unreliable omens. One of
them was 'Don't... ring... the gong...', and for some reason that worried
Neferefre, though the meaning of those words was escaping from him.
Shattered and Pulled Together Again
Added Tue Feb 14 11:25:17 2017 at level 41:
Emperor became totally insnane. Childish, sore, he was ruining Empire
from inside, turning best members into anathemas. Same fate fell on
Neferefre. For years Emperor was plotting and planning how he would
anathemize him. He was giving Neferefre ridiculous tasks that no one else
would complete, but each time Neferefre managed to pull it out. Finally,
emperor got a reason: someone told him that Neferefre stole some artifact
and he, without any investigation, instantly anathemized him. And since
that moment, it was done with the career of Emperor.
But, to the great surprise of Neferefre, he felt himself... much better.
He felt as a giant mountain fell from his shoulders. No more serving to
that ungrateful little boy on the throne. No more listening to his
nonsense, no more his annoying presence. Finally, Neferefre could do
whatever he want. But... what did he want now?
He wanted revenge. but not just kill that fool and his lackeys. Unlike
other anathemas, he didn't turn away from the Order. no, he wanted
Justice to prevail. He wanted true Order to rule in the world. True laws,
not those ineffective jokes of the empire. Laws that would protect
citizens and would guarantee punishment to those who break them, even if
it the emperor himself. Especially emperor, yes.
And Neferefre pledged his allegiance to the Spire. He'll bring the true
Order to the lands. Now, when he was not just a scholar, but a powerful
Necromancer, he'll make it... perfectly. And imperials, who put their
laws above the true Order, will regret. There won't be any exceptions,
even if he'll have to destroy Empire totally.
Vision of the modern Empire
Added Sun Feb 19 10:46:53 2017 at level 44:
Neferefre thought a lot about Empire and what happened there. He decided
that those who serve corrupted megalomaniacal emperor are the same.
Because would they serve such a person if they would seek the Order?
Would they tolerate his manipulations with Codex and Laws? Would they
spread his spoiled will? Of course no. True imperial would leave Empire
and fight against it to cleanse it until it's too late. Neferefre, the
former black, had enough knowledge and wisdom to understand: the very
Codex was is in danger now: used the way emperor was using it, it was on
the edge of its capability. If not stopped, emperor will destroy it, as
did arcanes earlier. Only some those who were known as anathemas were
true imperials, true to their beliefs and real Order. Neferefre not just
been seeking the Spire, but uniting and leading those true citizens
became his side project, promising interesting results.
Saku-Pharaoh
Added Thu Mar 2 14:50:49 2017 at level 47:
Finally, he woke from the dreams where his Ka was traveling the distant
worlds. This time, it had enough lifeforce to reach the God's domain in
the afterlife, and he almost got there but... he was awakened. Awakened
with the great pain, and realized, that he became Saku. His Ka, the mind,
his soul, has united with Ba, his mortal lifeforce, and remains of the
body - an anchor that wouldn't let him, the true Saku, to leave this
realm... for now. He turned into a new, powerful entity, into the
sentient undead, into the alive mummy. Rare, horrific being, that what
was he now.
He recalled his mortal life and recalled his goal. Goal to build the new
society. Better, stronger, wiser than before; resistant to the
temptations of Chaos, that won't fail to the hunger for power as happened
with Azhanians earlier. He is what he is now, and he will dominate over
those who betrayed him - corrupted imperials, and emperor especially.
This time he, Neferefre of the Spire, will proclaim the new Order, where
Empire will be just a part of the greater society. Of course, they won't
accept his leadership without the proper lessons. Why do we kill? To
defend and to teach. Yes, time to learn their own lessons has come.
The Undead's Worst Enemy
Added Thu Apr 6 08:30:38 2017 at level 51:
Neferefre was working hard, restless, to make his new socium - the Spire
- powerful and fearful. And he succeeded. Spire became a dominating
organization of Thera. His goal was achieved but... he still was not even
in a position of power. He, the most powerful archmage of Thera, was just
an only regular tribunal, or regular city. The longer he was thinking
about it, the bitter his thoughts were becoming. And, bound by the
policies of the Spire, he couldn't even touch one of his main enemies - a
lawbreaking, an ignorant paladin named Aelekai who, for some ridiculous
reasons, was Provincial Magistrate. This angered Neferefre greatly.
But his worst enemy was... boredom. He was so powerful that there was no
challenge for him anymore. Even his previous patron, the Emperor, was
hiding in his Palace quickly, like a mouse, as soon as Neferefre was
crawling out of his sarcophagus.
And, finally, Neferefre made a decision. All or nothing. He will become
Provincial, and if it won't happen, it will prove that the Spire is same
corrupted as the Empire, and shall not be protected, but... destroyed?
Bitter thoughts were filling Neferefre's thoughts. Something, something
will happen soon. But, undoubtedly, something terrible.
