Description

Covered in sleek grey fur, this fela is more shadow than living, breathing being. Her fur is sleek and shimmer slightly in the light, covering her from head to toe. Her eyes gleam yellow with the preternatural stare of the hunter. She is mostly silent, and there is a wild air about her movements, as though she is not as far removed from the great cats of her ancestry as some of her kin. Her claws are sharp and deadly looking, and for just a moment, they appar to shift slightly, taking on the size and deadliness of the great cats of ages past. As your gaze shifts away from her claws, her eyes catch an the yellow looks frighteningly flamelike for a brief second, but looking back the illusion is gone, and the silent unassuming image of a grey fela is all that remains.

Role

Clarifications, Addenda, and a Change of Heart.

Added Tue Nov 28 17:41:25 2006 at level 51:
Clarification: The previous role entry was my version of saying IC that I'd
lost interest and was planning on deleting upon my next full loot.

Addenda: The bit about Muuloc isn't meant to say Nefla isn't still a
follower/worshiper/disciple, just that she is aware in the IC sense that he
is dormant.

Change of Heart: Again my musing have found their way to paper, and yet it
seems fitting, as it seems the decision to attempt my experiment has reawoken
the joy of the hunt within. I suppose I will postpone my final shaping
indefinitely.

One Last Shaping.

Added Mon Nov 20 17:51:52 2006 at level 51:
I have never been one for spending time on internal musing, and even less to
committing them to permanent form, but as each awakening from the Primevial
Dream is more difficult than the last, I feel compelled to do so now. I am
young still, my body strong, the ravages of neither time, nor my adventures
taking any serious toll upon my body, and yet I weary of this world of
men....As my internal fire has waxed and waned, one constant has remained,
the strengthening of my animal-self. The part of me that is truly a beast of
the wilds, and this is the part of me that I shall wholly embrace. To change
not just shape, but become, truly, my animal-self. I believe I have attained
such mastery, but it is risky. Will I become one of the forms I know? Will
I become some hybrid of them? Will I fail and cease to exist? I cannot know
for sure, but when next I find myself naked, raised from by the ancients
will, I fear that the desire to discover the truth of what will happen may be
to great. Perhaps the gods will smile upon me as they have in the past, or
perhaps I will cease to be, but either way, my journey will be at an end.

Nefla Bloodclaw, Persistant Predator, Charnel Cat.

Mayhem

Added Fri Nov 3 14:45:47 2006 at level 51:
Cheetah: The fastest cat of them all. When Nefla heard the roar of the
Cheetah, and felt the knowledge of this new form, she nearly wept for joy.
While the tiger could pounce on those who turned to flee, the Cheetah
guaranteed that none could outrun her again. The fastest cat on the face of
Thera. Nefla couldn't have asked for more, though the form lacked some of
the deadliness of the tiger, for pure ability in a fight, it is unmatched in
her opinion. While cobra is a patient creature, lying in wait to strike, and
the tiger was like a slow rage building, waiting to pounce, the Cheetah is
pure impulse. To think is to strike, to run is to be gone. The wind rushing
past is the sound of pure joy.

Muuloc:Nefla feels somewhat abandoned by the God of Fire. Dutifully did
she try to send corpses to the forge, and to learn from her own forgings of
his teachings, but it seems it was not enough. Even as her inner fire waxed,
it seems the God of Fire's has waned. She is still a Charnel Predator, but
she does it purely for herself. No longer concerned with pleasing or
displeasing the Charnel Lord she has become free to act on the impulse of the
cheetah, and please her own Charnel urgings. To burn, to kill, to forge and
be forged by the shaping's. Much has been gained.

Master of Mayhem: Though the interests of Muuloc may have faded, the Master
of Mayhem seems to have taken special interest in Nefla's doings. Perhaps it
is the chaos she causes, perhaps it is a lack of options, it matters little
to Nefla. She does as she will, as she has always done, and that he delights
in her Mayhem is a pleasure. For even in defeat at the hands of the Tribunal
horde, new knowledge flowed into Nefla, and her magic grew all the stronger
for having pleased this enigmatic persona with her fires of chaos.

Nexus: Nefla blames changes to the magical fabric of the world on this
group. Slightly diminished in power for a time, or wholly robbed of her
ability to use her magic, this group is to blame in her mind. To her, they
are little better than the slavers of the Spire, or the Empire. They fight
her without any semblance of honor or pride. They have no rhyme or reason to
whom they fight. Normally Nefla might rejoice in this force of chaos, but
they seem only to be against her, and her causes, never aiding, only
hindering, then expecting to be except from her revenge when they deign to
decide they are no longer, or worse, never have been, her enemy.

Nefla the true Predator

Added Mon Sep 25 19:46:05 2006 at level 51:
Muuloc:A creature unlike any Nefla has ever encountered. Her brief visit
and conversation with the God of Fire, was frightening and fascinating. The
fear and longing, the unholy power of his presence, the knowledge that every
breath might be her last. It was everything she hoped for and more. Though
she had no real purpose for seeking his guidance, much wisdom did she gain
simply by speaking with the Charnel Lord. In their talks of forging, Nefla
even discovered anew that which she though she had always known.

Magic and the Predator:In speaking with Muuloc, Nefla was forced to
reevaluate her hatred of magic. For so long she hated the magic that had
made her physically weak, while ignoring the fact that it had made her
mentally strong. She had viewed her shapeshifting skills as a poor
substitute for the great cat she imagined she should have been, but in a few
simple questions, her beliefs were turned on their ear.Was she not stronger
than any tiger? Was she not a greater Predator than the great cats she
idolized? Was she not a more cunning hunter? Yes. The magic that made her
race physically weak, and robbed them of their heritage as great cats had
also given her the insight to become at once a great cat, and so much more.
She is a Predator more powerful, more cunning, more deadly than anything she
could have hoped to be.And just like that, her self loathing was gone, and
the magic she hated, and the predator she loved merged to become greater than
either was apart.

Nefla the Tiger

Added Thu Sep 7 19:59:45 2006 at level 49:
Muuloc:Nefla has only one brief run in with the Fire God, and sadly it was
over her own corpse instead of that of one of her enemies. She gathered an
important lesson though. Learn from every failure, every death. She has
made a conscious effort to analyze every time she has fallen to determine
what she should have done different, despite the predator side of her wanting
to strike without thought, even the beasts do not strike the strongest of the
heard, but rather cull the weak from the pack.

Tiger: Nefla's goal realized. The Predator rejoices in the pure joy of the
strength and power of the tiger. The ability to pounce on her prey to
prevent escape is perhaps the greatest pleasure Nefla the predator ever
experiences. So much was sacrificed in attaining this pure form however,
that it is a bitter-sweet victory. Nefla the tiger may be nearer her
predatory ancestors than any felar, but it is through the magic that
destroyed her race. Even in victory, she is defeated, for as strong as the
tiger is, more and more magic is necessary for true power. She has found
wands to create magical barriers to protect her, scrolls to invoker the fury
of the gods, and much more. She may be the tiger, but she is a magical
tiger.

Frost: Like the yin to Nefla's yang this person is everything Nefla hates
and loves. He loves the cold, and abhors the flames that draw Nefla's eye.
He revels in his magic, even as Nefla wallows in hers. They initial meeting
was tense, him demanding, her unyielding, but Nefla believes a mutual respect
was earned, and she find him fascinating in a way that felar men around her,
and even Agga never did. Nefla has only seen him once however, so while her
curiousity is piqued, it is only a minor thing for the moment.

Fire of the Soul.

Added Sat Aug 26 20:40:25 2006 at level 43:
Agga: Though Nefla was fascinated by Agga, and her demise before Nefla's
planned One Hunt was unfortunate, Nefla does not mourn her passing. The way
Nefla sees it, Muuloc started a fire in his soul, and because she did not
embrace, and draw strength of this fire, it burned her up, instead of
strengthening her. Nefla wishes to test her own soul in much the same way.

Muuloc: The fate of Agga, who was turned to the dark by Muuloc, and shortly
after took her own life, has actually increased the draw that Nefla feels
towards this god of fire. Though Agga's soul burned away, Nefla's
fascination with fire and power has give Nefla the prod she needed to
approach Muuloc directly.

Nreisshe and Outlander:In her talk with Nreisshe learned quit a bit about
herself, and her purpose within the Outlanders.Nefla respects Nreisshe, but
feels that overall, the Outlanders are far too passive in their war, and part
of this is that they draw so many rangers who cannot fight outside the woods.
hopes to learn all she can from Nreisshe being one of the few (only?)
other Reavers, and apply that to drawing more strength within the tree,
especially on the Reaver side. Some of her already doing this is her
depositing excess equipment in the tree for others to use.

Forms:

Snow Wolf: Nefla disliked the feeling of dog forms from her experience with
the coyote, and this form did nothing to improve her disposition. The dog
form is already a uncomfortable experience, and the worthlessness of this
form did not improve the situation for Nefla. She may know the wolf, but she
has little use for it.

Cobra: Nefla was wary of this form at first. Her experience with the
Scorpion told her that the mind of the cobra would be an alien experience for
her, but the strength of this form quickly overcame her reluctance. In fact,
since spending so much time as the cobra, she has found that her mind is
subtly taking on some of the alienness of the cobra's, and simultaneously
making her time as the cobra more comfortable, and her own mind an
increasingly strange and unknown place.

Nefla's Desire

Added Mon Aug 14 18:11:58 2006 at level 31:
Speech:Nefla speaks little most times, allowing her natural felar accent to
come through, and keeping her sentences simple and short. This is not some
deception, to appear stupid or uneducated, it is actually a reflection of her
desire to be a true predator, an animal of instinct, incapable of high
concept speech. However, she has trained too long as a spell caster to not
be able to pronounce things correctly. Too many complex spell castings to
truly hav the felar accent. So in times of duress, or when more complex
thoughts are being conveyed, she lapses into more skilled speech. It is
something she hates about herself, but failing in her goals is less
acceptable.

Agga: A druid of Muuloc, this creature interests Nefla greatly. She
traveled briefly with him. He takes flesh from those who would seek his
prayers. Giving flesh willing is an unacceptable proposition to Nefla (the
predator) but the draw is too irresistible to Nefla (the person). She has
come up with a proposal, One Hunt, to satisfy both needs. Basically a
singular hunt, where Agga is prey to Nefla's predator, and Nefla is prey to
Agga until oe of them falls. No duel, it is about who is the greater
hunter. The desired result is to gain both Agga's prayers by fulfilling his
requirements for flesh, and to get him to introduce her to the Dread
Sculptor, a draw of intense strength to her.

Forms:

Coyote:A passable form for Nefla, she was never quite able to master the
dog form, but she found it useful in her early travels.

Scorpion: This form pleased Nefla greatly. While far from her the "true"
form of her desire (being an insectoid) it was powerful and deadly. She got
great use of this form and feels entirely comfortable with it.

Cat: This form is another contradiction for Nefla. The cat she desires, but
it is a domesticated cat form. So while she is the predatory beast she
sought when assuming this form, it is weak and ill-suited for the hunting she
seeks. Well suited for sneak attacks and surprise (in civilized areas) it is
a form that is both loathed and loved. Its full use not known, while the
abhorrence of it is so laid bare before her.

Moth to the Flame.

Added Wed Aug 9 19:19:28 2006 at level 5:
Nefla always resent the magics that created the felar. More than resented
actually. She hates it with all her being, and yet it offers the only path
to what she desires. To be what she was meant to be. A pure predator.A
beast of pure instinct. To hunt for pleasure and kill for food. To be what
she would have been if not for the meddling of magi. Nefla was drawn to
shapeshifting as a moth to flame. The forbidden, the hated, the path to
realization. he sees the path. The path to Thar-Eris, where all fela might
return to their natural, beastial roots. She sees the path, and like the art
of shapeshifting, it repulses and draws her in.It is a path of fire and
destruction. The repulsion, and the alure pull, Nefla BloodClaw, moth to the
flame, the predator of the night, the beast of instinct, the calculating
hunter. She begings her journey.
