Description
Long, elegantly braided hair that changes from white to faded blonde as
it reaches to the mid of her back. She is rather tall for a human,
standing well over six feet tall. Her posture is graceful and proper as
she is immaculately dressed in expensive cloths a few could afford. She
is quite old, her pale skin is wrinkled, yet it is not weathered, and she
carries a kind of beauty of old age and noble original around her. Despite
the age her eyes are bright, and give off a barely noticeable silver hue.
Deep within them lurks a cold calculative mind. Pouty pale lips with dropping
corners give her face a somewhat grumpy expression.

New blood joins this earth

There is a kingdom called Sekhet-Rath in the farthest
southern region, beyound the mountains, that divide Oryx
Steppes from the the world that has been undiscovered. It is
inhabited by people, who live along the full-flowed river of
Zing. The social structure of Sekhet-Rath was similar to a
pyramid with the pharaoh on top who relied on the Council of
viziers and nobility to conduct his will among common
people. The kingdom prospered from the commerce of minerals,
rare sorts of lumber and wheat it exported to the empire of
Seantryn Modan. The nobility consisted of four most
influental families: two from the delta of Zing and two from
the high mountains. To indicate their nobility, each adds
the prefix "vas" to their names.
The House of vas Tao and the House of vas Djedefre emerged
from the mountains. The Houses of vas Hannu and vas
Rakhatshepsut sprung from the valley. The aforementioned
divided the Kingdom into sections and sent representatives
to the council.
These delegates would serve the pharaoh as his closest
viziers, although in reality they mostly pursued their own
interests via shrewd politics and intrigues.
As the Ages passed, this resulted in deceitful politics that
gradually shifted the noble family's bloodline toward red
auras. All four of the clans were vicious and bloodthirsty
by the Fifth Age. only motivated by differing degrees of
power lust and greed.
The balance changes
Added Fri May 17 13:08:17 2024 at level 35:
In the past, the House of vas Rakhatshepsut was the most
prosperous. The Rakhatshepsuts provided the mainlands with
some of the most sought-after redwood, blackwood and wooden
charms throughout the last Age. You see, the only family
ready to experiment with magic was and still is the
Rakhatshepsuts. As a result, three other families often
united against Rakhatshepsuts to lessen their power and
wealth. Their emblem included an owl, resembling those in
their forest, perched atop a tree branch, with the words
"Vigilance, Vengeance, Victory" inscribed beneath it. This
represented the family's commitment to the political dance
of the crowns. They are credited with being the first family
to noticeably exhibit a crimson aura.
Mehmet, the House's Patron, thought that one or more of the
other families were responsible for the spate of forest
fires that have challenged the vas Rakhatshepsut family's
power in this Age. Mehmet worried that it would take several
more generations for the vas Rakhatshepsut family to regain
their former renown, given their forests had been destroyed
and a large number of their citizens had perished trying to
put out the fire.
Unwilling to accept this as it is Mehmet made a decision
that will alter Sekhet-Rath forever. Just a year before, the
desperate Mehmet had turned down an offer. Now, he accepted.
an invitation to wed a stranger. An exclusively political
union. Something worked out with the people.
The other noble houses viewed this as heresy. However,
Mehmet was indifferent. He promised a substantial portion of
his power in return for riches and the Drowish trade routes
in the southern Underdark. He has divorced with his human
wife, and married to the fourth daughter of one of the
Matron's of a less powerful but still noble House.
The House of Vas Rakhatshepsut was once again prominent, but
it was also more transparent than it had ever been.
The Kingdom was about to enter a war.
The War of the Four Families
Added Fri May 17 13:37:40 2024 at level 35:
Politics was nothing new to Vexesia, the Drow wife of
Mehmet. She was aware of the need for patience because she
had witnessed how her mother and sisters conducted
"business".
Mehmet was a cold-blooded, calculating guy, but he was
nothing like his bride. Her strategy was straightforward:
force the man to submit before outliving him. For the Drow,
human existence was not even a season. Long after he turned
to ash, she would just assist him in sowing the seeds and
harvesting the results. She thus imparted to him her
knowledge of deceit and scheming. She gave birth to several
children and persuaded him of her devotion. She also taught
his children from previous marriage: a daughter Neheratha.
She sent her drowish spies to every corner of the kingdom to
spy on the customs and murder notable individuals. They
discovered that each had wealthy and well-known low-noble
families that were serving as flag bearers for the other
"vas" clans in the conflict.
They were all approached and told they would all get
promoted if they turned against their senior families in charge of
their district. As a result, the Djedefre family-their own
bannermenmoved into their enormous oak hall and formed the
House of vas Djedefre, overthrowing the Djedefre family
first.
And then the vas Tao's, the final mountain defenders, met a
violent end. But it was not for betrayal: their bannermen
fought valiantly at their side, rather, they were brought to
their knees by discovering that honor has a high price when
others disregard the principles of loyalty. The last family,
which suffered from cruel yet efficient politics of drow was
vas Hannu.
The vas Rakhatshepsut family's residence, Redwood Hall,
hosted a magnificent feast as a result. After celebrating
their triumph, the newly established noble households choked
on their wine. Each was tainted by the host. A combination
of Drow warriors and Rakhatshepsut bannermen quickly
dispatched the nondrinkers. There were public execution
shows throughout the course of the following few days. On
every path, there were men hanging from the trees, one on
each side, separated by dozens of feet. Everybody had a
placard with their crime around their neck. Signatures from
the House of vas Rakhatshepsut on each. The routes in the
plains and mountains reeked of weeks of decaying flesh. The
scent of Victory.
The Moment of Triumph
Added Fri May 17 13:59:04 2024 at level 35:
The council would not exist anymore and the pharaoh had to
face only one serving vizier, Mehmet, instead of four now.
But was that vizier SERVING?
The man himself was now elderly and weak, but hiw drow wife
was full of ambitions to unrestricted power and anxiously
awaiting his succession. Perched atop a tree more akin to a
vulture than a vas Rakhatshepsut owl. However by the kingdom
long established tradition it was not wife who succeeded the
ruler, but his children. That is why to finally clear her
way to the power the Drow had to get rid of Neheratha first.
She was aware that Neheratha shared her father's desire for
power and determination to achieve it.
She thus took the next action. She planned to slowly poison
Neherata with a specific drowish poison, which makes a
victim slowly die as if from natural causes. Thus, such a
plan allowed Vexesia to avoid blame of direct murder.
However, Neheratha was a true daughter of her father and she
studied magic for a few years before. She realized that she
has almost no chances of survival while staying in Redwood
Hall, and one night she fled from her home to the mountains
and beyond, where lied the northern part of the continent,
where the mighty Empire was established for ages as well as
large and wealthy cities of Hamsah Mutazz, Galadon, Voralian
and Udgaard. However, her goal was not only the survival.
Her goal was Vengeance. For this she planned to join the
mighty Empire, rise through its ranks, become a mummy (more on that later)
and return one day, heading the army strong enough to liberate
her former kingdom from opression of the drows.
Personality

Notable psychological traits of Neheratha:
1) Strength was Neheratha' domain of birth. It controls and
molds every facet of her existence. To achieve strength she
only considers what is advantageous and lacks the whole
spectrum of human feelings. Her character traits could be
summed up as follows: cold, calculating, and stubbornly ambitious.
However, in her opinion strength does not come from winning.
In fact, winning comes from strength. Your struggles and
losses develop your strengths. When you go through hardships
and decide not to surrender, that is strength. And if you admit
defeat and rush into oblivion after a few deaths this is not
manifestation of strength, no matter how many victories you had before.
2) Neheratha has a systematic, conceited and malevolent soul.
She considers the evolution of civilization to be magical in
large degree. That explains why so many savages avoid magic.
They are afraid that civilization will advance and that a
strong-minded mages with its unadulterated cunning would
replace savagery and mindless, brutal strength.
3) Neheratha lives by her family's credo, which is
VIGILANCE - VENGEANCE - VICTORY. In keeping with her
beliefs about Strength and the basis of her own, the "Three
V's" seem rather straightforward to her.
Vigilance because great men watch all things. They see what
goes on even when it's out of sight, just like an owl. They
perceive more than just the moving piece - the entire board.
Vengeance due to the fact that a vas Rakhatshepsut never
forgets or pardons his foes. Victory since domination is
attained by abiding by these laws. She is now fixated with
war, and his methods of dealing with it could give the
impression that she is a general rather than a wizard.
4) It is this lust for dominance that has brought Neheratha
to the worship of Lord Rillan and Splitting Maul. She was
first introduced to the faith in the Academy and then again
after settling in Galadon. She desires to prove herself to
the Lord and to become the ideal Rillanian.
5) She acts as a nobleman, showing little regard for the
common folks. However she can be kind, suave and charismatic
to those, who are useful for her goals. Even in situations
when she doesn't have control, she exudes confidence and
believes that a prospective post in the Empire would provide
just the right amount of power over society. She has dry and
short speech and writing, and often likes to give advices or
or share valuable information to achieve double goal: make
the Empire stronger and get respect and admiration among
other Imperials (especially the Emperor). For the latter
reason she also tends to announce her victories over rebels
to all Imperials.

6) Neheratha admires all things magical and she likes to
6) encourage other Imperial (and even non-Imperial) mages to
work together. Quite often practicing spells on each other
makes them learn faster. Sharing knowledge makes you
stronger and/or more respected. In general, cooperation is
part of civilization, while savages tend to work on their
own. Since coming to the mainlands she has taken up the
trade of the necromancer as she finds the power over the dead
the dead to be as appealing as power over the willing.
Within the dead he finds the ideal workers. Those who are
eternally loyal. Those who would never betray their betters.
She also seeks one of the most ambitious goals for a necromancer
- to become undead. In Sekhet-Rath there is a tradition to bury
pharaohs as mummies. They are not undead, of course, just corpses.
Neheratha wishes to become an undead one. Manifesting herself
as such to her former people will put them in awe and obedience
like nothing else.

Career
Neheratha has been a constant presence in the Empire, rising
from a low-ranked Oath to the Elite Imperial Witch. In
general she is satisfied with the speed of promotion, and to
guarantee her the spot of an Elite she informed the Emperor
of failures and misdoings of her Sect 'camarades',
particularly Kullam. Still her promotion to Elite was
slightly delayed and she was second to get the spot, which
led to a mild anger against current Dread Lord. Now the next
career task would be to replace him, but it looks beyond her
capabilities. For now.
Cooperation
Neheratha was pleased to find out that most of the Imperials
actively cooperate on doing many things, besides mandatory
duties. As it was stated earlier, she belives cooperation is
a cornerstone of civilization, while animals and savages
rarely do something together. They may hunt in pack, but its
something that is coded in their instincts rather than a
rational choice of mind. It is not something she does out of
'kindness' (irrational feeling). Cooperation allows you to
get allies for getting the wands or corpses and informants,
and establish a good reputation needed for political career.
She established good relations with many Tribunals, namely
Kurrukuh, Prossyn, Azrik, Oultuun and others in order to get
information on roaming assassins and thieves. She
established good relations with a few freebooters like
Shalendra, who is being an air shapeshifter often helped
Neheratha to find her enemies.

Man of the people
She found the Emperor the most benevolent, graceful and
mighty person in Thera. Among the mortals, of course, for
noone could beat Lord Rillan in that regard.
Its not about only his personal strength in combat, but also like
he leads the whole Empire towards his goals and organizes it
to make it stronger instead of just being awake. Neheratha
wanted to do something sensible and meaningful for the
Empire to strengthen her importance and reputation. Her
first idea was to become a royal gambler and provider of
curiosity purveyors from the Inn. However, the new project
of the Emperor requires to gather sixty thousands of gold
and therefore spending gold on gambling is out of the
and therefore spending gold on gambling is out of
question. Perhaps, the expedition organizer? Turns out,
showing others how knowledgeable she is is quite pleasant
thing. Is this a Vanity?
What bothers her however is that Emperor's entourage looks
rather pale in comparison with him. The Dread Lord seems
strong as well as the High Priest, but others are much less
so. War Master Ahbichruz, Priest Kolgrek, Shadow Lord Vrolah
are barely worth to occupy Elite spots not to speaking about
Sect leading ones. Oh, the first two are helpful indeed, but
is that enough to become a good Sect Leader or an Elite?
The path to undeath
She has mastered most of the necromantic spells taught to
her in her guild as she pushes through toward her Becoming a
mummy. This thought consumes her night and day and to finish
this is her main goal for now. She stepped to a sideway and
gathered 500 gold to donate for the Imperial Monument, but
the rest of the gold will have to wait.
