Description

With a big mashed nose this filthy creature sniffs the air while two large black eyes glares at its surroundings, taking careful note of everything. The two black eyes are set deep within its eye sockets and a single thick eyebrow stretches over his forehead above both his eyes. This filthy duergars body is somewhat smaller than what is normal for his race, and his skin is also somewhat paler. However, the dirt and grease covering it, makes up for it in abundance. Thick muscles can be seen where the mismatching light armor doesnt cover his skin, but even then, despite the sinewy muscles this duergar gives the appearance of a frail being compared to his kin, and yet, the eyes are the unmistakable eyes of a predator. As you look further you see...

Role

When the darkness becomes dark...

Added Fri Nov 23 15:40:38 2012 at level 1:
Not even the eyes of the duergar child could penetrate the strange darkness
in the tunnel, cuts and bruises covered its arms and hands as it stumbled
forward into the darkness, bouncing off the rock walls.

Nizetr was terrified, living his entire, but short life in the dark tunnels
of the Underdark, he found himself in darkness impossible to penetrate. He
had been lost in the tunnels for hours now, stumbling through them. Tears
fell down his chin and he was but a breath from crying out for his mother and
father, but he knew that if he was found shouting and screaming in the
tunnels, hed be killed. No, he must find his way out of this on his own.
He wiped his tears, took a firm hold of his fears and continued to stumble
through the darkness, but now, without the sniveling and sobbing.

Three decades later a filthy creature silently crawled along side of the
tunnel wall, managing to find shadows to hide in within the darkness. In
front of him two dark shades moved over the tunnel floor, they moved with
absolute silence following a small and dark shape a head of them, quiet sobs
could be heard from the silhouette, as the shades and creature slowly moved
closer to the silhouette it becomes clear that it is a small child, stumbling
through the darkness, crying and sobbing, obviously lost, suddenly the
sobbing stops and the child turns around.

W-w-whos there?

The fear becomes thick as the darkness in the tunnel, one can almost see the
shades grow in size from the spike of emotions filling the air, and they make
the leap towards the child.
Without warning, a ball of steel, leather and muscle leaps down from the
ceiling, crashing into the two shades, bouncing back and forth between the
walls, tearing them apart, all with brutal efficiency, a battle without
sound...

W-w-whos there? P-p-please! H-h-help me!

The filthy creature rises up from between the spots where the two shades
disappeared, slowly walking closer to the child, circling around it,
breathing heavily now. The fear that lay thick in the air before are now like
a gel, halting any movement the child might have thought to make, as he can
hear the heavy breathing, smell the filth and refuse and sense the pure evil
emitting from the creature in the darkness...

Yer found yer way iner eh? Yer bettabe tellin me how ye goter, ye filthy
lilshit! Yer betta tell me how te git de farg home!

The sound of tears echoes from the walls along with chattering teeth as the
child beings to wail, both are abruptly cut short and replaced with the
sounds of tearing and gnawing...

When darkness bites back

Added Fri Nov 23 15:47:26 2012 at level 1:
This feast might have sated his bodys most immediate hunger, but Nizetr was
furious, well, for being him, he was furious, for anyone else, the feelings
inside him might have made them raise an eyebrow. Having spent three decades
in these tunnels had taught Nizetr a few things. If he were to survive he
needed to be cold, colder than the stones. Whatever these things were that
inhabited these tunnels, Cculgra they called themselves, they thrived on
emotions. Emotions and flesh, he had learned this early and also learned that
this was his only chance of surviving, tracking the Cculgra as they tracked
the lost children. This was something that he found odd, that so many seemed
to just be wandering around in these tunnels, obviously unprepared for the
hardships awaiting them, but Nizetr were pragmatic, he needed food, and they
provided him with that.

Two shades silently moved through outskirts of the crystal forest, seemingly
unaware of the danger that lurked in the shadows above them.
Diving out from his cover among the crystal branches Nizetr ambushed the two
shades, but before he knew it, he was surrounded. Out of nowhere several
shades appeared, moving in on him. Images flashed through his mind, almost
like a nightmare, but he realized it was them communicating with him, telling
him to surrender and come with them. An hour later Nizetr found himself
subdued, as surrender was not his way.
The shades brought Nizetr through shadowy forests and plains, to the great
city he had only seen the walls of, the city called Necropolis...

Nizetr found himself in the bottom of what resembled an amphitheater,
surrounded by pillars with deep shadows, too deep for even Nizetr eyes to
penetrate. He could sense immense power emitting from them, as shadowy
tendrils lingering out from between the pillars... He knew he was in trouble,
this was far beyond anything he had ever faced, and for once, he could not
constrain his fears, but at the same time, he felt something else,
anticipation.
The questions raced through his head, why was he here? Alive? There must be a
reason to why such beings had summoned him here, what was it? Where they
gods?

Suddenly a voice echoed within his head.

Yes, there is a reason to why you are here, child. Why you are alive and not
torn apart. We have seen your potential, we have seen what you might become
in your future, if we were to nurture you. We wish to make you our hand and
will in what is to come. You will be ours and ours alone. Your life, soul,
mind and heart now will belong to us. And by serving us, you will gain power
beyond what any other mortal have ever seen. Perhaps even immortality...

When darkness bites back, part 2

Added Fri Nov 23 15:51:06 2012 at level 1:
The voice went on, like thunder it echoed through his head for what seemed to
be hours, days, perhaps even years. Repeating the same message in thousands
of variations. Sometimes images flickered through his mind instead of the
voice, images of himself, both broken down into nothing, and elevated into
the heights of the gods.

When it all ended, he found himself on the ground in a dark tunnel, not
unlike the ones he had spent so much time within... But now he knew things, he
knew a lot of things. He knew he was no longer in the plane of shadows, but
in Thera, the prime plane. And he needed to find a way to tear up the fabric
of time and space and make way for the eternal night, and to do that, he
needed to find those that called themselves Scions.

The birdsong echoed into the dark cavern, outside the sun was shining, and
the putrid stench of the orcs that lumbered just outside of the cave made its
way into the darkness. The dark creature took no notice of either, he just
glared out from the darkness at the accursed light, sensing the fear and
excitement from the orcs just outside, his mouth watered by the thought of
them, filthy creatures with no sense or purpose in this world. But for now,
the light out there protected them. He would have to wait for that glowing
ball in the ceiling to disappear, he needed to study it more, as it seemed to
move in a cycle of some sort... No wonder that his dark gods wanted to change
this world before they could conquer it.

Nizetr was born with an inherent connection to the Shadow Plane, and thus he
got lost as a child in the underdark tunnels, ending up in the shadow plane.

Spending so much of his youth avoiding and tracking the Cculgra have made
Nizetr extremely apt at suppressing his feelings, he rarely shows any emotion
at all, because he doesnt allow himself to feel them. He way of tracking the
Cculgra to find suitable sources of food also made him apt in sensing others
emotions, not anywhere near the level of the Cculgra, but still quite some
compared to regular Therans. Spending so much time within the shadows have
given Nizetr the ability to find shadows within the shadows, in return, he
shuns the sun, referring to it as the "glowing ball in the ceiling". He will
avoid letting the rays of sun strike him if he can, and will only travel in
the daylight if he must.

During his contact with an unknown deity he gained a lot of knowledge of the
Cculgra, shadow planes, and a basic understanding of the different planes of
Thera. The promise of great power and immortality has bound him stronger to
this deity than anything else and he worships it as most worship their gods,
he will do their bidding and see to that the eternal night is brought to
Thera, preferably without giving the Scions any protection or leverage.
Nizetr sees himself as his deities hand in the shadows, he longs for an
eternal night, to finally eradicate that glowing ball of pain.

Seeking approval

Added Sun Dec 9 03:58:52 2012 at level 40:
Complete darkness, that was what most wouldve seen in this place, but the
well developed eyes of the duergar easily penetrated the shadows.
The dark alcove was filled with small pebbles and yet it almost looked
inhabited. A small bed carved out of rock could be seen as well a small
chair.
A few stones had been placed as some sort of makeshift altar near the back
wall and on the bed a very old skeleton could be seen. The filthy duergar was
kneeling on the floor, quietly mumbling prayers about shadows and darkness,
behind him, at the entrance of the alcove, a dark shade with vicious claws
hovered, fiery red eyes watching the duergars every move, and for those who
could sense emotions, one would almost sense fear emitting from the shade...

Nizetr has achieved his initial goal, he has managed to become a respected
member of the scholars that calls themselves Scions. He is now allowed to tap
into the powers of the Scepter and to learn their secrets, some of them at
least. The Chancellor is very secretive with his plans, but Nizetr is
determined to figure them out, while at the same time building up a fake
thesis about how to gain leverage over the Cculgra. Either way, he must help
the Chasm to open a rift or some sort of portal, so that his master, or
masters can cross with their vast armies.
Deep within the bowels of Thera, in the darkest of places, Nizetr has found
it safe enough to worship the powerful being or beings that has sent him on
his mission, and in both fear and long for the day he gets to meet with them
again, he is eager to please in hopes to gain the rewards he believes that
they have promised him.

The years he has spent on the surface of this plane now has forced Nizetr to
move under the sun, even though he loathes and hates it and will do what he
can to avoid it, he knows that he would not be long lived in the Chasm if he
doesnt learn how to work under the burning rays of the sun...

The research linked to the totems and Thar-Eris intrigues him, but it is
something he only regards as a side project, because his masters goals are
far more important.
