An unusually thick dark-elf stands before you here. His golden eyes seem to be looking right through your gaze. His silver hair covers part of his face, yet you can still make out a slight grin behind it's whisps in the wind. He is draped with various armors and clothing, leading you to believe he is a traveler, or at the very least, is well traveled. A pair of scabbards hang from his belt, a finely hilted sword in each. A few other weapons drape across his back, and down his legs. At last glance you notice the quickness at which he moves, each effortless stride with purpose and conviction.

To understand where we must go, we must first understand where 
we came from.  Born in the darkness of the underdark, son of a 
champion warrior, and a lesser archmage, I come from a prized lineage
of my people.  Never having to worry of life meager things, I 
have always lived a life of comfort and ease.  The only thing that
mattered as a young warrior was my training.  At the side of my
father, I watched, learned, and sparred daily, striving to prove my
might in the eyes of my father.  Constant motion, constant judging, I
was excellent in all manners of the warrior.  Strength and speed, cunning
and knowledge, there was nothing my training failed to show me.  My father,
was the master of his craft, a life filled with blood and glory, and he
enjoyed it completely.  I rarely saw any emotion in his eyes, but knowing
that I could carry our line gave him some sort of pride I believe.  Upon my
growing to the age of a teen father told me that I must journey out, into
the realm, and learn of ways of the world.  I was destined to be great, to
be a warrior of lore, but first, I had to learn defeat, victory, betrayal,
and glory in the realm of man.

Defeat

Life in the Empire has shown me much in my service.  The forces of darkness must exist
with the purpose of order to achieve their goals.  I have witnessed many that stray
down the paths of chaos, neutrality, and light.  I often catch myself seeing all three
facets look to enforce themselves upon me, and my glorious Empire.  This....is what 
drives me, assures me that I do walk the correct path.  So many forces would not impose
upon me, if I was not living with a higher purpose.  This, gives me peace in times
of defeat.  It seems that one can learn many things, outside of battle.

Time has a way of changing things.  No longer am I the servant of 
a non existent singer, I am now his War Master.  I will take this opportunity
to grow the blade sect into an army, finely tuned, ready, and capable of 
dealing with any and all situations.  My first actions as War Master are seeking
knowledge of what my sect is comprised of.  A few eager ones have sounded 
the horn quickly, whilst others continue to slumber.  My blades must be eager, 
driven, and willing to do what they must in order to achieve their objective.
I will start with a few, learning their goals, searching for what drives them to
those ends.  The Blades will see me as one that is never satisfied with simple
subjugation, they will see my drive, and in this, will learn to harness what drives
each of them to become what they seek.  This will also lend me an eye into
each of their lives, and perhaps give me a glimpse of an ousting, or an overthrow.

Betrayal

I have long thought about the events within the palace that have lead
to my demotion, my defamation.  I have concluded that I have much to learn of 
politics within the Empire.  I so blindly sought to overthrow what I see as a 
failed emperor, that I did not see the whisperings from the shadows, seeking merely
to secure their own position, and defame mine.  It is likely that this was planned
from the beginning of the call to vote, merely to take power from me, or to eliminate
the threat I must have posed.  I will say I was completely blinded by the blow,
completely oblivious to what transpired.  A betrayal by those men that sought the vote, 
by my peers.  

It was shortly after I was thinking of what had transpired, when I was approached
by a shadowy messenger.  It bade me to return to the caverns of the underdark,
there was something that needed my attention.  It seems that fate is quite amusing
to those that can see what transpires.  Curious as to what required my focus, I 
slipped back into the caverns with a fluid ease.  Traveling in complete darkness
I expertly retraced my steps to my home.  I was greeted by the guard and allowed
to pass.  As I approached the square, I was beckoned to the school of war.  For those
that have not seen this sight, it is quite a wonder.  Lighted by flaming sconces a large
field lies in front of a hollowed out building.  The building is emblazed with an emblem
of a sword crossed with a mace.  Most of the stone within the matron's city is a pale white, 
much like the skin of my kin.  The stone of the house of war is stained red, a red 
that once you've seen it, you will never forget it's beauty.  The walls are as smooth
as silk, complete with windows and arches.  All of this is set next to the blooded field.
The Blooded Field is the training grounds of the drow, it is here that we are taught
how to fight, how to survive, and how to kill.  The ground is covered with a spongy mesh of
blooded dirt and root.  It was upon my approach to the school that a picture began to 
to become clear.  My father was flanked by a dozen royal guardsmen on the field.  As I
approached I was met with a nod and a slight smirk.  He said to me, "Nizrili the Cunning,
You have come to know of war and of victory, now come and take your rightful place."  
"Come, show our students what you have learned.  Take this seat as our Master of War,
and show us the way to victory."

I blinked calmly and said, "I still have much to learn and much more to prove." 
"I am not ready to accept this seat."  A hushed silence came over the field as
a voice hissed, "You will accept this seat gratefully, and you will do as
I command."  "For too long you've lived on the surface, for too long you've
wasted your talents on the idea of an order, of an Empire."  "Come now," hissed the voice.
Confused I said, "I will not leave my Empire unsettled, and I will not bow
to lesser men."

Betrayal2

As those last words were uttered, my father smiled quickly as the troupe of guards 
surrounded him.  Swords drawn, my eyes met with my fathers'.  "You will do as I command,
and you will do it, or your father dies in front of you."  With that, my father reached
for the guardsmen and drew a blade into his chest.  Such a death is so rare, 
instinct tells us to live, his instinct told him to die.  I vaulted quickly to the 
ceiling, evading attackers as they came.  As I made my way to the darkened caverns I could
hear a faint hissing, uttering tongues that I am not familiar with.  Upon my return
to the surface I felt weakened, I felt cursed.  I devise that a curse of the matron 
was the uttering I had heard.  Betrayal in both sides of my life, so very close
together, and so enlightening.  It was at that point that I decided to devote
what was left in my bones to my revenge.  I knew then as I do now, I must continue
within my sect, I must continue to climb to the peak, and I will find my time 
to strike, to be victorious.
