Description

You see a tall and robust man dressed with the armaments of a warrior. Long unkept dark brown hair contrast a pair of deep blue eyes. His facial features are sharp and severe, but his pale skin seems very smooth and you notice pointy ears peeking through the hair, possibly a sign of some elven heritage. Several light maces and hammers are strapped around his belt and long shafts and spears are attached on his back.

Nolyek travelled, trained, has made friends as
well as enemies but spent most of the last years
taking care of his dying priest mentor, who
eventually died. Nolyek knew the time had come.
Now a mature and well trained warrior, he decided
he would join the Holy Brigade of the Fortress.
For many years he has seen them fight in the name
of the Light. For many years he has wanted to join
them but also felt the need to take care of his
mentor.

A few days following the death of the priest,
Nolyek sent a missive to the Fortress of the Light.

In Nolyek's mind, things evolved and he discovered
following a path of Light is not easy. There is one
particular moment when he realized it: One day,
a thief knocked him out and robbed him of everything
he was carrying, then engaged combat. Nolyek fought
back and eventually killed the thief, who after his
return to his corpse, explained that he was robbing
to feed his kids. After the incident, Nolyek fell
into some deep meditation and went to his priest
mentor (he could never call him "father", some sort
of hommage to the real father he never knew) for some
insight.

The priest had said:

"Anger is in everyone, Nolyek, and many will take
the easy path and succumb to a life of murder and
violence. Your heart is pure, my son, take this
incident as a lesson. I know you, Nolyek, I am sure
you will realize it did not happen for nothing."

Fate, again. Everything has a Fate. Nolyek doesn't
know what Thera's Fate is, but he knows it can be
influenced. He knows his Fate can influence the
world surrounding him and incidents like the poor
thief's attack only happen to help him refocus on
the Fate he decided to follow.

Background

Nolyek was born from the forced union of a human
(the father) and elven (the mother) slave. His
parents were part of a dozen slaves working for
some wicked duergar priest in Aran'gird. At the
age of 5, he was sold to a dark-elf mage who on
his way back to his city, was himself struck and
killed by an adventuring group of Marans. Nolyek
was escorted out of the Underdark and brought to
Voralian where a priest of the Voralian Order
looked after him and raised him.

Nolyek now trains in the Voralian warrior guild.
He strongly believes his past happened for a reason.
Slavery was not his fate. His history gave him a
purpose and a reason to live. The forces of the
Light that saved him now influence his every action.
He realizes his fate is to defend the Light in every
form it takes in his life.
